Such a complicated situation. I started learning russian because I'm totally against this nonsensical war and I wanted to find a way to communicate with people beyond geopolitical interests. This is the only way I could find to, at least, symbolically resist against warmongers and the absurd hatred we've been led to against our will. I find it soothing to listen to you on your channel. Your videos have been a peaceful ground on which I can grow a seed of hope. In such confusing and anxious times, I'm very happy to know there's a Russian guy like you for whom I feel some kind of brotherhood. And brotherhood we shall need my friend.

Greetings from Poland. Take our Duda or Tusk and give us someone like Putin. We’re in Europe are getting poorer and poorer. They close our mines and power plants. They close our factories. They ban heating. They ban cars. The prices are growing exponentially. The housing ceased to be affordable. The relentless influx of foreigners is overwhelming social services, healthcare and school systems.

The efforts of the people are not in vain. The many people who have been persecuted and martyred for their country will not be in vain. I heard the people chant at Navalny's funeral. The day will come. Russia will experience a tremendous spring, a golden age of peace, the world will stop and admire its greatness. It reminds me of a former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. The day he died, Cubans in Florida celebrated. An old lady made a great effort to get up from her wheelchair and dance. Some Cubans however did not live so see the day that dictator died. A famous singer by the name of Celia Cruz expressed homesickness for her country throughout her career. I read an article in which the famous singer went to Guantanamo Bay to kiss the ground because she said it was the closest she could get to her country. Like the quote you shared, I agree, "It is not the end". ❤

Im an american who is trying to learn russian, and most of the russians that I see online and talk to online have the opposite opinion that you share here today, and it was very discouraging and disheartening. I am very glad to hear that you don't share their opinion and have even tried to peacefully protest for a cause you believe in, it makes me very happy.

I'm glad to hear most of the Russians don't share Sergei's views, but who exactly are you talking about? All the Russian language learning channels are carbon copies of each other in this regard. Also, have you made an effort to understand why so many people are on the other side? Are you able to even discuss these issues with an open heart and mind?

It is difficult for me in the U.K. to understand the situation in the Russian Federation but I sympathise with you and your family and friends. The democracy in the U.K. has evolved over time, and still needs improvement. It will take some time for Russia to recover from a regime such as Putins. The war in Ukraine is a difficult problem to resolve, and needs peace talks to willingly start on both sides, which will be a challenge for Putin to accept. My thoughts and prayers are with the Russian people for a peaceful resolution from the current situation. JohnB

I have always liked you, Sergey, so I encourage you to take the hard road, and don't be like all of the other Russian bloggers who are just as brainwashed by Western propaganda as the people "in the villages who watch tv all day", that they constantly criticize. Be different, be genuinely original. Instead of going with the herd, be fair to the other side and see the world through their eyes. Give a voice to their arguments, to why they feel so strongly in favor of Putin and why they don't trust the West. In other words, be FAIR and JUST. Here are some angles that you could have considered with regard to everything going on, but your allegiance to the Western narrative blinded you to. The fact that the Russian people can adjust to keep someone that the majority highly respects in power for a very long time is a sign of the FLEXIBILITY of the Russian political system and a sign of true democracy. It's ridiculous that someone who has over 60% support cannot be elected for life. How is this democracy? A person cannot consider themselves an adult if they don't always ask the question: "Who gains?" Putin only loses from the death of Navalny, especially since it was on the same day as the biggest victory on the front line since the beginning of the war and it was a month before the election. The West gains everything from this event and Putin only loses, think like an adult who is most likely to be responsible. Western governments have perfected the craft of manipulating young people to destroy their own countries. Western propaganda makes young people feel extremely self righteous and better than the older generations. Self righteousness is a very powerful drug, for many, it's irresistible. What, is it written on the side of the atom that governments need to change every four years and that letting children chop off their private parts is what truly enlightened people do? Finally, please think, if people are studying ypur language, even after two years of this war and all the anti Russian propaganda, it is because they LIKE your country and probably find many good things in it that they don't find in their countries. Instead of using your channel to signal that you're a good guy to other Russian bloggers and people in the West who hate your family just because they're Russian, you can be brave and use it to provide the West with a view on Why Russians ARE NOT evil and crazy and why their decisions and preferences at least make sense.

Totally agree. I am so sick of Russian vloggers who whinge about Putin, but never, ever show any gratitude or cognisance of how he has transformed their country's fortunes since the dark days of the 1990s....whereas people in the West have witnessed a terrible deterioration in their living standards and well-being since that time, due to the poor calibre of our politicians. I've never seen any of these vloggers provide a cogent criticism of Russian domestic or foreign policy, needless to say, or any understanding of how difficult it has been for Russia or other countries to protect themselves from predatory Western hegemony. Moreover, when someone genuinely seems to believe that everyone standing in a line to vote is going to want to vote in the same way, it makes me seriously doubt their critical thinking skills.

@@Jane-xk7sp I was talking about this with a former liberal minded Russian girl yesterday. The main sign that there is brainwashing going on with Russian Liberals (and liberals in general), is that they are not only incapable of calmly discussing the issues like adults, but it is clear that they feel and know that they cannot defend their views without hysterics

You should be ashamed of yourself, this is very shallow. People like you should not talk about politics. Get some knowledge first, read some history and other books so you learn about the world you are living in. Only then you might become aware of the danger that your country and the rest of the world are in. We finally get someone who has courage to say no and stand up against the elite whose plans and actions should be obvious to everyone now. By fighting evil, he fights for you too. Sad that you don't see that. If you get pissed on your head and you think it's raining, well then no point explaining anything to you. There are hundreds of good books, and most of them written by western authors, read them, get educated and only then talk about politics. New Zealand citizen

@gummaray Well, I guess living in New Zealand and reading books entitles you to criticise a Russian citizen who comments on his own country's situation. Can I suggest the next book you might like to read could feature the topic of how to be civil and polite to people. As for putin "fighting evil"!? Words fail me.

❤ I agree with you. I love President Putin, he is a Christian. Everyone I knew voted for him. An Independent poll from America gave President Putin an over 80% approval rating, it matched the end results. Plus foreign observation from all over the World was there. It was the most honest and fair election. It was NOT fake or rigged!... Navalny was a traitor and a CIA puppet.

Russians are very lucky to have such a president: he got Russia in a very bad conditions and and led it to be an economic power. I live in Italy, here many people went to vote and they went to vote for Putin. Heremost of people would have a leader like Putin, instead we have a servant of United State, we don't want to go against Russia, we don't want to fight with Ukraine but government must do what USA want. We are living under a dictatorship. I should prefer in a free country under a free president.

As much as I like listening to your channel for the purpose of improving my Russian, I was sorry to hear this viewpoint. I am a 53-year-old American who is considering leaving the United States forever because of my disgust with my country's purportedly "progressive" anti-God, anti-family, anti-decency trajectory. I'm sure Russia is far from perfect, but at least the Russians (and Putin) are standing up for things such as genuine marriage and time-tested values. Perhaps there would have been no war if Ukraine hadn't chosen to become a puppet of the U.S./NATO Axis. Anyone who thinks that the U.S. and other Western nations are bastions of liberty hasn't tried living here as a God-fearing person. Our president (Biden) and his kind show favoritism to criminals over respectable citizens, they're destroying our economy, and they lie constantly. Those of us who try to speak out against them are cancelled; our media silences us. Our judges don't even know what a woman is anymore. For all of Putin's faults, I'd take him over any of the Western "leaders." When Putin says that the West presents an existential threat to Russia, he is telling the truth. On other matters, I can't say how truthful he is. But on this point, he should be believed.
