"Voulez-Vous" is the sixth studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released on 23 April 1979. The recording sessions for this album were the most lengthy: no other ABBA project threw up so many unused recordings.
On April 24, 1978 the group finished their first song: the track "Lovelight". The next day, "Lovers (Live A Little Longer)" is recorded. A month later, on May 29, the quartet began work on the track "Summer Night City". On August 17 one more song is recorded: "The King Has Lost His Crown".
After many discarded songs, the group delays the release of the album to early 1979. Work on the album progresses, on October 25 "If It Wasn't For The Nights" is completed and on November 26 they finish recording "Angeleyes". However, as time goes on, and the group has no more than five songs finished, the release of their album is postponed again for the spring of 1979.
At the end of 1978, the group is invited to participate in the concert "Music for UNICEF". By December 13, ABBA got the ideal song to present to UNICEF: "Chiquitita". After the concert, ABBA takes advantage of their visit to the United States and records the track "Voulez-Vous" at Criteria Studios in Miami.
Work on the album accelerates and back in Sweden, on February 6, ABBA records "Does Your Mother Know" and the next day "Kisses Of Fire" is finished. In the next month, the last two tracks of the album are finished. "As Good As New" is recorded on March 14 and "I Have A Dream" is completed on March 15 with the help of the Stockholm International School Choir.
Shortly after the release of Voulez-Vous, the group returns to the studio to record a song to promote their North American and European Tour. The track "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" is recorded in August 1979.
