No.....that's like saying every car is fast if you drive it right. Some martial arts style developed in isolation and were rarely combat tested. There ARE specific human biomechanics that yield the best results. There ARE specific kicks and punches that deliver the best results. And there ARE martial arts styles that are most effective in true unarmed combat.

If it is used by the VC, it is effective. The demo stuff...is demo. But, I do like the ying/yang duality.

IMHO it's just as effective as the experience stacked. just like many South East Asian traditional martial artists in _new imperialism_ era, originally it was used by Vietnamese freedom fighters to ambush French patrol in guerilla operations. the downside of this art is that it needs to finish the opponent immediately because normally one wouldn't have enough stamina to prolong the fight using Vovinam. but that also the benefit per se. no one would want to waste time and energy trading strikes in a fight that can be ended quickly.

In my opinion Hapkido is one of the best martial arts ever made. I like Krav Maga, I'm just now seeing the martial art Vovinam from this channel and I'm loving that one and kajukenbo is great too. Karate is alright but although I know there's no such thing as a superior martial art, I put Hapkido at the top of my favorite martial arts list. I'm currently training in it and look forward to improving it, become a high level Hapkido fighter and using it against other formidable martial artists.

I was taking free Vovinam classes at my college just before COVID hit and shut down all campus activities. I had a really fun time practicing it even when my instructor used me for demonstrations and I ended up flat on my butt (I always thought it was super funny how he was able to throw me around without any effort). I'd love to get back into it.

It's not surprising that you've never heard of it. This martial art isn't very well known to the outside world compared to other martial art because Marketing is very expensive and Vietnam isn't rich enough to have spare money to do it. It mostly relies on word of mouth method to market.

As a 5 year practitioner of vovinam k14michael you are right XD no one would ever pull that move in a street fight, day one of learning vovinam "learn the basic techniques everyday, because thats all your body is going to remember in a street fight"
@tavtav3526
@tavtav3526 6 лет назад
Mayquayqua123 my teacher teach me that too. When in the real situation, just use the most basic technique cause it's fastest & easiest. Forget all that throwing technique & jointlock. Just focus on how to get out from your current situation.
@jonahblessum4372
@jonahblessum4372 4 года назад
@@tavtav3526 well if you get into clinching/grappling range maybe some simple, intuitive throws like a hip throw would come in handy. And there's a difference between a street fight - someone trying to kill you - and a liquored up guy in a bar who could be handled with a sternum arm-bar. But yeah, no scissor kicks in a fight...unfortunately XD

so unsurprisingly, when it turns to an actual combat situation as in competition, it just looks like kickboxing. Why waste time with all the extraneous bullshit you know doesnt work? (dont say thats not the case, because otherwise you would use the techniques) Just do kickboxing. You'll notice the wushu-sanshou teams of vietnam don't waste their time doing taolu and all that nonsense, they are in the gym drilling the techniques they will actually use in combat, meanwhile the guys and gals doing talou don't fight. Ever. Big surprise.
