Great video, thank you. Reminiscent of early Uncle Doug videos. Amp sounds very nice and sparkly when clean. Be interesting to hear how it breaks up when cranked a bit more. Liked the gentle leg-pulling about 'valves' :-). We also drive on the 'wrong' side of the road in the UK.
Mmm. Maybe the rest of the world is driving on the wrong side of the road. Who knows?! Thank you for your comment, appreciate your commendation! And ….Uncle Doug is still the godfather of amptech videos. Greetings from Germany
@@martinstubeampworkbench2299 It's all good mate. I grew up in Florida and usually call them tubes myself, but moved to Australia in 93 and everyone here calls them valves. Keep up the good work. Cheers M
I would have…..but I am living in Germany, so I assume, that won’t help you. But it’s a 10 watt 80 ohm cement resistor . A 100 ohm resistor will do the trick as well. I don’t know, where you are located at, in case the US try mouser as a supplier for electronic stuff, or browse eBay. But if you decide to stick your fingers in there, beware of the high voltage. Make shure the HT capacitors are discharged.
All four powertubes chair one cathode resistor. So they are selfbiasing. No need for a trim pot that you find in fixed bias circuits. I increased the resistance to cool down the plate dissipation, that is way too hot from the factory to extend tubelife. In these amps, that are cathode biased it’s not even necessary to pop in matched tubes.
