I went with the gold pin JJ's tube option. They excel with clean to moderately overdriven tones offering a bit more chime and harmonic complexity (compared to the non-gold pin variants). This setup uses that exact output/power setup plus two standard gold pin JJ ECC83S’s, one balanced gold pin ECC83S for the PI and one gold pin EF86. You can find it right here: www.eurotubes.c...
Overall these tubes sound warmer when compared to the original tung sol 12ax7's.

Thanks for the video. The sound after the re-tube is definitely warmer and smoother. Nice job!

Hi! I recently bought this amp but the seller didn't say that there's no sound on the EF86 Channel 1 circuit. Do you have any idea as to why it's not working? Dead tube? What's the stock EF86 did VOX use for these? Did they use EHXs? Channel 2 sounds fine and fab though. I don't have that much knowledge about tubes that's why I asked for your expertise!

Great question! I suspect the tube is shot (either by use or in transit). I would reach out to the folks over at Eurotube to see what they suggest for a replacement. www.eurotubes.com/store/pc/home.asp
