I definitely preferred the 15 in this demo. Thanks for this, another great demo by you as always.

AC15C1 sounds phenomenal. The somewhat rarer C2 version sounds even better. But both are loud enough for small gigs and with a PA anywhere else. No doubt the 30 sounds fantastic cranked, but you'll never be allowed.

a little amp is always gonna sound better in a little room, but everything changes from night to day when you play in a mid-large venue, in that case the AC30 wins, the AC15 has enough volume and to spare, but 2 speakers and larger cab give you a much better projection, range and fuller sound, where little amp tend to go flabby and lose a lot of their warm freqs without some walls that reinforce them, just to say that these comparisons in little rooms are almost next to useless IMO

Honestly once you start playing bigger stages they usually have a bigger PA meaning you're not going to be using half of those 30 watts while a cranked ac15 will sound great. It's about headroom, if you want more distortion get a 15. Cleans get an ac30.

Not true and people mic them these days anyway.
@chojinkid
@chojinkid 2 года назад
@@ushnicyuvnikof2748 it is true, it's simple physics, miking makes up for lack of power but doesn't make up for a loss of amp tone, don't forget that ;)
@chojinkid
@chojinkid 2 года назад
@@firemarshal2629 it's a matter of tone here not power, you can have the best and most powerful PA system there is but if your amp sounds like crap your monster PA will just reproduce the same crap, a good guitar tone starts from the amp, if you're gigging outdoor and your amp is too little it will lose bass, mids and projection, and the PA is going to pick up exactly that tone, no matter if you mixer has an EQ it'll never make up for the original amp EQ, a 30W 2 speakers cab will always push with more muscles moving more air, maintaining a better bottom end, where the little amp will get flubby and harsh soon gettng lost in the air, Vox amps are also well known to be beamy, and the smaller the amp is the beamier it will get if you're playing outdoor. It depends of what music you're playing anyway, if you just use cleans you're pretty good with an AC15, if you dig a good overdriven Vox sound a fuller sound will give you more benefits in a large venue.

AC15C1 sounds creamier and has lots of power, also lighter to carry and can be mic'd.

Surprisingly prefer the 15 in this demo. How do you like the v30's compared to the stock greenback

I think the ac 15 is perfect! It wouldnt be my first choice for chugging death metal, but for most styles, you can dial it in, without even using a single effect. It's easier to carry, and there is always a pa to mic up to, if you have a singer. Just a little 200 watt 6 channel pa with 12" speaker is going to help throw that amps weight around a fairly crowded place. I played the same room as big pro band with thousands of watts. You couldn't hear what the singer was singing, just the chairs rattling, and my teeth. Clear tone cuts, and vocal processors add dB to a low powered pa. I think at least a single mic in the center front of a drum set can help alot, if the place is big enough and noisy enough to start to over power drums. I get that a big pro band want 1000 watt power amps and they might be better off with a 5150 amp, roadies and guitar techs, but for most people that 15 is going to be great.

AC15C1 Celestion Speakers- Chinese. 1960's UK ones are old and unreliable but they do sound great if they don't break down. ;)

it doesnt have a drive channel right? i remember playin on ac30 it has pretty high gain drive.
@tabormorin4526
@tabormorin4526 4 года назад
you could get some mean overdrive by jumping the channels and diming both channel volumes, but there is no designated 'drive channel'.

You had the same settings for both?The AC15 gives a much better tone, I can't figure out why, really.

smaller amps don't need to be as loud to sound as good, and also smaller amps sound better in smaller rooms.

Ac15c1 or Ac15c2?
@MrKadidle51
@MrKadidle51 10 лет назад
Just so everyone knows 30 watts doesnt mean its twice as loud as a 15watt amp. More like almost the same loudness. Maybe not in this case since you have an extra speaker as well. May be a little more difference than normal.
@Mikee535
@Mikee535 9 лет назад
Joe Schmoe FYI, Technically speaking, The loudness difference between a 50 watt amp and the 100 watt amp is only 3 decibels (dB) which is not really a drastic difference. For other reasons in a guitar amp 2 speakers always sounds better than 1. Helps widen the high frequency beaming you will get with just one speaker for one thing. And the lower freqs couple for more bass response.

A 15 watt amp with a speaker that is 3db more efficient is as loud as a 30watt

The current 15 reissue is a modern day classic that's why. Best bedroom amp currently that's not boutique.
