A great introduction to different Vox amps for $50US each!! I have to be honest, I do have a problem with all the control layout but I imagine that if you take the time to learn it, it makes it easier to use. Great tones!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🎸🎸🎸🎸

Years ago I had the first gen amPlug Lead and I loved it! I even bought the mini extension cabinet and took it outside all the time. It took 2 years of playing every day until the pots became very scratchy, but it still worked. Back then I saw people putting them inside stomp boxes and playing clubs direct to PA. This is all very nostalgic to me and I'm happy they continue making new ones.

Awesome demo as always Shane.. I bought the boutique and I really enjoy it. Vox not including a useful manual was a mistake - even a QR code to a video would have been better, because it sounds great but I had watch your video to understand the FX/Drums toggle, I don't think that's intuitive at all. Aside from that, I love that guitar your playing! What a cool design and finish.

I used two older models of these (AC30 & Clean) for several years before Fender released the Mustang Micro. I still prefer the Mustang Micro (though I wish it had adjustable gain), but these new Vox versions are a significant improvement over the previous incarnation. I hope they're using better roller pots, as the old ones had a tendency to get scratchy/noisy fairly quickly. Also, I wish Vox had redesigned the articulating plug; as it is, it allows the hard plastic case to easily make contact with the guitar body. On the Mustang Micro, with Strat-style jacks, it's nearly impossible for the amp body to hit the guitar, and there are rubber strips and a rubber knob that help prevent damaging contact with other jack/body styles. Still, at $50, these represent a good value, assuming you don't have to buy too many versions to find the sound you like. Shane's video is a valuable sevice, in that regard.

Good morning from upstate NY and the Adirondack mountains my man..bitter and sunny 15* f this morning..lol..good day to play my Les Paul 🤘🎸. I have the ac30 version of the amplug and it's pretty great for what it is..that and the mustang micro are my headphone amps when I'm in the mood

OMG the tremolo sound at around 20:21 is so sweet (reminds me of The Cure). Is that effect possible to achieve via the Modern Bass unit or only the standard Bass Vox? Thanks.

How we can use two effects together ? As mentioned in 14.53. I have the boutique one, cannot combine the Delay + Reverb as mentioned, although i tried many combinations of buttons and looked online too. It is not explained, no instructions how to do it, here or in the manual Please let me know, would be highly appreciated Thanks

14:52 Reverb and delay both on? So you can stack the effects? Or just one at the time 🙄 And i’m curious how we get the sound presented in this video. Straight to your you tube recording or over a mic/ amp setup. When its over an amp what amp are you using and is it a neutral clean channel? Tnx in advance. I just hope they make a more proper amplified cab or power amp for this generation of Amplugs, either a rechargeable desktop sized stereo 5w cab (with a speaker out to use on other cabs), or an MV50 sized power amp to use as a gigable head. That'd make these much more useful and fun.

Oh gods....... I have to upgrade - now! I've been using the Amplug2 Clean through a 10W JVC bluetooth speaker, via it's aux-in - and that's been at my local clubs. It's sufficient volume to round out my Crafter FX550 sound - and it confuses the sound guy because he can't plug it into the PA - but it's more that good enough for the venue. What I now need are the Boutique and US Silver models and I'll have all the sounds I could use for jazz, blues - and a bit of pop/rock...... Oh - and with my main amp being an Orange.... I love the dirty channel on that plug - it's actually dirtier than I can get out of my current amp - without driving it silly!

I have an old style Vox one. Very limited. There is so much choice in this market now. I think a drum beat is almost a must. Not so sure about the "hit & miss" button. I'd like to know what I was using. Being a clean player. I thought I'd prefer the Silver, but the Orange was excellent.

I was just wondering about something like this. I travel a lot for work and I'm always trying out different rigs I can take with me on the plane and in the hotel. Currently I'm using Positive Grid Riff through my laptop and some small desk speakers, but the power adapter from my laptop puts off crazy amounts of RF noise that get picked up. I think something like this would give me a bunch more luggage space and get the job done of giving me something to practice with.

Investing in a Beat Buddy Mini, or Mini 2,to go along with the Vox, is an excellent choice, if you want more Rhythm tracks to play along with. Just plug it in to the Auxiliary, and Rock on.

Thank you for such detailed overview. What would you suggest for acoustic guitar? I have Vox amplug 2 Clean and it works almost good for electro acoustic classic guitar. The 'greeb' clean channel gives the sound of the guitar almost as is, but other channels cut the high pitch. Anyway. Which one would you suggest to have clean and, maybe some crunch as a second channel for acoustic guitar?

Keep playing bass with your thumb if you want. John Myung of Dream Theater uses his while playing his track "Solar Groove" and he is one of the best bassists in Metal.

Are you sure that the Boutique version is Orange? I thought Boutique replaced Vox Amplug 2 Blues which was inspired by Fender Tweed amps. Even the official review on the 'Vox Amps' RU-vid channel introduces the Boutique version as 'Californian-style tones'. Orange is surely not Californian :)

Hello. As a beginner who just wants to practice with headphones, does it really make a difference which brand I choose? Vox, Blackstar, or even the cheap Xvive? I'm still practicing to play chords properly, so my needs are just to hear if the cord sounds good or if I placed my fingers incorrectly. THX

Yes, it does. I've bought cheap JBL headphones for almost the same amPlug and now I don't know how to get rid of these headphones. They sound terrible and I don't actually know what I was thinking about when I decided to buy them. Now I've got Marshall Monitor II A.N.C. and they sound way better (but not enough bass for me).

I just received the amplug3 AC30 in the mail today. The good: IF this is what an AC 30 really sounds like I robbed myself for years. (I'm a Marshall fanboy from years ago.) The clean is crisp and articulate the dirty is well good. for what this thing is better then NUX or Fender.It's easy to use It's a keeper. BAD: The controls are hard to see even with glasses on and my Pixil for a light source No Good Vox! I am getting interference from something (It's more then 60cycle hum,i have that also) I'm sure it's my expensive headphones. Just bringing it up so others know about it. I really like to tones from it. My Gretsch and Tele sound really good. Like I said It's a keeper. may get another one if I can figure out the interference.

for my money 💴 i’ll stick to the Fender mustang mini better construction and more durable and no batteries 🔋 cause it’s rechargeable i use mine with my Boss pedals for even more versatility

Nah, had mine for months now. It will last of you treat it right, like anything else really. It plugs straight into the guitar so if you're smart you won't sit and rest your guitar on something that would break it by pressure. You can throw the thing around and 8t would be fine

The Amplug 3 hasn't been out for that long, so I doubt there is much evidence of durability issues. My Modern Bass is definitely lighter than my Amplug 2 Bass, so I don't doubt that there are problems with it. Just treat it with baby gloves and hope for the best.

@@allend3127 same. I only upgraded to the 3 because I wanted a sharper tone for my bass, plus the 2 didn't play well with Active hardware and I needed to turn down my onboard Preamp. So far the 3 hasn't had that issue.

Also it's on the underside of the guitar which seems pretty awkward of you want to adjust it. That being said, the sounds are pretty good!

I still got my Clean and Bass versions of the 2nd generations. I think you have to be careful of how you place the plug in and your guitar on the stand..
