~ 0:14 "Alleluia- Tropus" from "Adam's Lament" ~ 5:55 "Most Holy Mother of God" ~ 10:42 "The Deer's Cry" ~ 14:32 "Drei Hirtenkinder aus Fátima" (but i think that when i heard it they repeaded this several times? Being there was stunning)
zing that someone in the 20th and 21st century can or would want to(I certainly don't i don't even consider it an option) write such calming music. Is it meditative? Roberto Gerhard,Husa or Druckman it ain't. i've seen some of his orchestral scores and know there is much rumination ,sophisticated use of contemporary tropes and techniques but is there ever a cry,an note of indignance? He must be very much removed from the fast-paced city life. Hadyn was in the farming country but his wit saved him and his penchant for musical surprise. I wonder in 25 years will this still be as amazingly popular as it is. I guess people expect calm from classical music not civilized digression ,violent disuasion or caterwauling.I prefer the latter obviously .There is room for all thankfully .Thank god for Pintscher,or if it must be minimalist Sikorski, JohnAdams ,Ades,Rihm .now I wish i hadn't written any of these.who needs it.Opinions.Gorecky and Prt are fine.I prefer more contrast, conflict and life.
