Add a 3 prong grounded power cable to fix loud 60 cycle hum and relocate flimsy wall wart adapter inside cabinet.

Also could have taken the transformer OUT of the wart, wired the new plug to the PCB and ground to the chassis. A lot cleaner install.

Thanks for making this video. Thinking of buying one for 50usd. The electric is pretty noisy where I live so maybe its not a good match for me.

@@micksterminator3 it's still a good lightweight amp for the money. See comments below about noise reduction. Probably worth trying it.

Read the manual there’s an adjustment just for this. It’s called noise reduction. You have to press bypass, push one button down while turning a knob. Or something along those lines. It will dial out that noise as you turn the knob You’re Welcome

This!

@@JonWilliams-r4n good to know now after the fact! 🤣 However that is still masking a design flaw. A proper ground makes more sense IMHO. Why "reduce digitally" what you can eliminate physically?

I just took a 10’ grounded cord and cut off the female end, exposed and stripped the ground wire and attached it to the ground screw then removed the power prongs in the male end keeping the ground plug. Works great but does involve having two lines. I do like your solution to only have one line though.

great idea I was thinking of doing this but adding an IEC connector to the back (computer power jack)

That would definitely be better!

@@LanceJordan I just did it and it looks great. I tucked the original adapter in the top part of the chassis by removing the plug terminals on the AC adapter (wallwart). Then I soldered the remaining portion of the terminals to the IEC socket. I ran a ground from the ground pin on the IEC to the same spot you attached ground. I zip tied down the AC adapter inside the chassis so it does not rattle around. Thanks for the great video.

I’m wanting to put a brand new chassis into an older British Racing Green edition. Does the chassis come out easy? Is the speaker wire soldered on? Thanks.

I'm not sure how easy unfortunately as this was awhile ago and I didn't attempt removing. My guess is that it can be done without great difficulty. The speaker wire has normal connections and can be easily disconnected without tools, no solder.

@@LanceJordan Just got mine last night! Definitely notice the ground noise, and the 12V plug and short cord are annoying. The speaker looks like the connectors have shrink wrap on them, helps support wire, but haven't tried to remove them yet. Definitely will be tossing this speaker. 5 ohms?! Hopefully 4 ohms won't draw too much.

@LanceJordan

You can find a schematic for it online. That should tell you what you need. Good luck!

It is like watching the blair witch project. I really wanted to watch this but well poor video technique fixed that.

There's got to be an easier way to fix the grounding buzz.

There's no ground with the wall wart. If you have w better idea, go for it.
