VR Cover Quest 2 Review. If you SWEAT in VR you NEED something like this!
If you exercise in VR or generally just sweat a bit you need to get something to cover your facial interface OR replace it all together when you exercise. The Quest 2 interface is made of foam which will soak up all the sweat and eventually stink really bad. So by covering it with a cloth or silicone cover like this you can avoid this. I'm not saying you need to buy from VR Cover, but you do need to get something.

For ultimate comfort they should sell a silicon cover without the nose flap light blocker. The fit kit even has lens covers for light blocking that would totally complement this idea. Does anyone know if they exist?.

You are way smarter than me. I just got one of those, and I never even considered removing the clip-on shroud. I just tried installing it on the whole Quest unit. Took me 20 minutes.

I think the design of the silicone cover is at odds with itself. By including the nose flap it removes any air flow that existed so it actually causes you to sweat more than when you're not using it. It does a great job of keeping the sweat out of the foam padding but without any air flow it gets very hot very fast, and if you're wearing glasses they'll fog up, which had never previously happened before using this. Considering this is meant for working out I don't know why they included the nose flap. It does a good job at removing any light bleed but I bought this for working out, not for comfort and fidelity. That's what I'll get the other one for. I'm going to cut that nose flap off of mine and I think it'll be more functional.

VR Cover is amazing. I've been using their products since the DK2, and they have options for every major VR headset. Every time I've gotten new VR hardware, my first purchase is a new VR Cover for it. They are essential to sanitation and comfort when using VR.

The silicone covers helped a lot with the fit of q2 as well. It stays on better and it’s not as blurry.

Both. Silicone protects the foam interface, and the cloth over it wicks the face sweat if playing intensive stuff (eg. fitness stuff). Having only the silicone leads to the sweat dripping on my face in my mouth during workouts. Ew.... Not to mention the extra fogging caused by a more hermetic seal by the silicone. Obviously, if you can find stock of it, the pu leather interface + the cloth extra for intensive workouts are the best combo, imho. And ditch the sorry ass foam original, or the silicone cover.

I think they both look a bit pointless, silicone will make you sweat as it isn't breathable and the cloth cover only covers two thirds of the foam... IMO You're better off just removing the facial interface, rinsing it in warm soapy water, a quick dry with a towel and you're done :)

I doubt a quick dry will cut it. I was sweating quite a bit and the foam was fine under the cloth one. A lot of people really like the silicone. You sweat more which annoys me but it all stays off the Quest.

Silicon covers do become moist much quicker as sweat stays on the surface but it is very easy to wipe.

Yeah. The pro and the con. The ou one I use is a bit stinky now as some does remain inside it. I could wash it but since I only use it for exercise I don't mind too much.

@@VRCauldron That was Tyco Tech (another youtuber) killer combo for the Quest One. That one needed some slight modification to make it work, but that was his recommendation for the best of all worlds (silicone + cotton).

Quest 2 has a leather face part and it's weird. I don't sweat because I'm hot. I swear because the leather just covers my entire face so it can't breath and suddenly I feel cold liquid running down my face 😂

It’s the PU Velcro one that looks the best option, I put a microfibre towel on my head and put the Quest on top , works a treat.

I bought a charging stand GEN1 that holds all the parts. I swear ALOT! Especially with Supernatural. Anyhow the other day I went to grab the headset and it charger face down with a wireless bit so I nebver have to “plug” The bottom of the tray that cup holds it was wet. Not moist but a puddle. Seems like the sponge slowly drained, I use supernatural and the have a silicone one, ad I have a few others since I ren w the membership gladly. I bought a fan and it required a face piece that the silicone is not quite right fit. Long story short I am not seeing as much but I noticed that the overhead band, the back skull band and the front are culprits. The VR survived being face down in a small pool of water. Miracle? Maybe no tech right there? Maybe sealed? My next move it to wear a headband and with a supernatural Monster session I might have to rotate 4 of them. If I end up killing it I will have to get the latest and a mega warranty. Thanks for the video. I’m just not sure it cover sweat from an actual fitness app vs beat saber. Which no doubt is a calorie burner and sweaty one too but not like SN.

I received my VR Cover silicone cover last Thurs on Nov 12th after placing the order for it from VR Cover directly on Nov 6th. It is worth it. The stock foam interface and even the VR Fit kit upgrade foam is really gross after playing Beat Saber. On the plus side I have a lot of spare interfaces, I suppose.

I loved my VR Cover cloth cover on the Rift-S, but I had to quit using the Quest 2 version because of the change in design. I tried everything and couldn't get the wire to stay in place through even a medium session. It would always come off and usually ended up against my eye, which is bad for a lot of reasons.

@@VRCauldron your’re not wrong my friend. Still waiting to get a RTX 3090, controller straps for Quest 2 and the elite battery strap just to name a few things that have been delayed in 2020. Damn scalpers. This year has been a total dumpster fire for a techie. At least I got my Quest 2 the day after launch so that’s one plus to this dreadful year. I hope those facial interfaces come back into stock soon because the foam is OK but I know it’s going to get messed up after a while and it’s a sweat magnet.

My 'knockoff' silicone cover from China arrived today. Already a lot better with Beat Saber. Not sure if it's 'medical grade' silicone - I'll let you know if I break out in hives. ;-)

Is it possible to use the cloth one over/on top of the silicone one? Wondering if combining them would get you the comfort of the cloth and the full sweat protection for the foam that the silicone gives. Probably not worth it unless you already own both (or if you sweat to much for just the cloth one and cant stand having the silicone in contact with your skin).

I know that this is not about the video, but I have a problem with the casting on the quest 2 to my phone, it says to check my wifi connection after I click cast, on my tablet it just shows audio, I have a good router and my phone/tablet are in same wifi as my quest 2 . Do you have any tips ?

Hmm not sure. Make sure you're on the same wifi ssd with quest and phone. Also try casting using phone and try doing it from the headset too.

In comparison with the leather VR cover, what's the pros and cons of silicon ones? As I don't find the comparison in your vids. Would you prefer the silicon one to the leather one ?

I know I'm 3 years late, but in case anyone scrolls by this. Leather is porous; silicone is non-porous and hypoallergenic. So all in all, silicone is better for your skin, but you'll definitely feel the sweat.

another great video, thank you! Please forgive me but I do have a question - the facial interfaces for the Quest 2 - are there any wider ones available please, as my glasses are too wide (140mm across) to fit comfortably inside the shape of the facial interface.. I have to slightly bend my glasses backwards and that's puts more pressure on my nose. I tried a replacement kit from Esimen and it was too small and I'm still waiting for the official Oculus facial interface pack to be posted and I'm HOPING they will be wide enough, otherwise I'll need to get prescription lenses made overseas so I can actually use my Quest 2 properly. Would you please mind measuring any facial interfaces you have and letting me know if any are wide enough to allow a pair of glasses 140mm (measured across the lenses and including the arms on each side) to fit please? Maybe someone has made a custom 3D printed facial interface to allow wider glasses? Thank you.

I had the same problem so had to use contacts but luckily I was able to get the fitpack and the wide interface helped a lot. I haven't tried any replacement interfaces yet sadly but if I do I'll make sure I measure them as I need the same thing.

@@VRCauldron thanks mate.. yeah my OQ2 elite strap arrived a month sooner than I expected, but they still haven't posted me the fit pack yet.. hoping it'll help with the wide face and glasses I'm blessed with :) If I'm going to get contacts or prescription lenses I think I'll be lucky to do so before end of year.. I have been looking at 3D printed replacements as I know someone with a printer I could possibly pay them to produce one for me. Cheers and have a good one!

Any silicone cover for quest 2 will most likely be the same but they all take a long time to arrive. And like I said in the video I haven't seen a cloth alternative. There is a replacement facial interface by amvr on amazon I could test that. Not sure how long it takes to arrive.

I haven't lost tracking once in beat saber, maybe you had a dodgy unit. Quest 2 was far better than my rift s for tracking.

@@Dreadpirateflappy as soon as it leaves the fov when doing extra large movements for full points it does. It leaves the fov of the game but not the camera fov in pass through. So I dunno.
