as someone whos using standabke and about to get a quest 3 for this exact reason this is WAY better. standabke is AMAZING for upper body tracking but COMPLETELY breaks with legs. all it can do is tell when i sit or stand and cant track my waist at all. thegsaid in a future update they will fix the legs but its been a while since then and nothings happend so im not sure if itll even happen especially considering it was just some highschool kid's side project. stillamazing for upper body tracking but leg and hip wise its nothing much more than normal half body.
youtube wont let me edit for some odd reason, but some additional thoughts i have standable is 13.99 i beleve so this price is very worth it for the better tracking. id rather virtual desktops worse upper body tracking to be able to get my legs in vr any day. i really wanna see if i can combine the two for smoother upper body tracking though if compatible. should prove to be an interesting experiment if it works.glad to see that fbe is being more accessible to questies and more work done on it. tbh i think it could be the future of vr tracking as its cheaper more accesible and doesnt require a jungle of tracker straps and cables and putting trackers on everytime. if anyone has any questions id be morethan happy to answer. it would be interesting to see it run on headsets with better sensors too to unlock the softwares full potential and see if it makes any difference though

I wonder if that might push VRChat devs into improving their own IK system, since Standable seems to be doing a similar job to this without the need for cameras tracking lower body movements. Though seeing so many new cheap options for FBT/FBE makes the default VRC IK kinda obsolete, it would be nice to see it improve aswell since it has been shown that it could be so much better without the need for actual trackers!
Yes this is much better than standable. I have used standable and its cool for upper body stuff like fixing the elbows but for lower half in it's current state its not great. this is miles better for lower body tracking
As someone who has gotten Standable to work very well and has tried this method too, I prefer Standable no contest. You can play in dark environments and look straight up and down without losing tracking with Standable. You can lay, roll and turn your hips/chest/head to look behind you with it too ALL with no cameras. And with 2.0 around the corner with mixed tracking, VD needs to get off the starting line compared to Standable already cleared hurdles. People saying they can’t get Standable to track their lower body well is the definition of “skill issue.”
@@syl-does-games be sure to set your height in VRC correctly. For the first session I had my height too low and Standable thaught my feet were my knees and my hips were my chest.
Well sadly as a standable owner I'm pretty appalled with, the developer works for himself as he makes you buy the first edition which is worse than his updated beta bundles which you then have to buy again on his patreon so I couldn't tell you how good that one is because of that reason alone. The 1st edition is garbage compared to this but I've got index and legs now so it's not a problem anymore just a warning to future buyers.
I'll definitely try this out once i get a quest 3. I'm also very much curious on how index controller will work, so uhhh yeah just gives me more of an incentive to get the quest 3 Edit: i found out index emulation is basically just finger tracking
wish there was a option for the quest pro honestly and the av1 codec as well (edit) tried on my quest pro but i have foot and waist trackers and it's so broken with it i turned it off
I'm having an issue when calibrating on VRChat, my elbows and shoulders are always misplaced, no matter how good I T pose, or if I put my thumps up or down. How is right way to calibrate it?
I figured it out. I'm using a Quest 3, and when calibrating FBT on VRChat, you need to put thhe controllers facing down, twisting your wrists down. A quite unnatural posture but that way it works.
Y'know I don't know what's wrong but I set it up, made my desktop and vr headset the same version. And turned on the Emulate Steam VR Vive Trackers. I open VRchat and at first the arm trackers are working well but the legs, they are stiff and haven't moved at all. Then when I tried to close and open vrchat again the Emulated trackers are all on the floor clumped together and I don't understand why that is or how to fix it.
it works alright but is there a way to fix the shoulders being so stiff? when im using it when i put my arms down it forces my avatar to go down and the shoulders are really stiff
Is it actually comparable to what vive trackers can do? I already have 8 vive trackers and would love to get rid of some of the burden that comes with keeping elbows/chest in place and charged… and be aware that once you try something better than 6 point - there is no going back (for me at least)
I installed virtual desktop and made sure on my app its on beta and i downloaded the beta of virtual desktop, it somehow doesnt show the option to emulate vive trackers or anything. just basic options. Am i doing something wrong?

it doesn’t fully track your legs, like lifting, but it’s actually just taking a estimated guess of where they would based on your hips! So it is not full leg tracking, but it’s better than nothing imo
So if anyone else is having issues, my steam VR was launched in safe mode after crashing cause of VD, so what you have to do is, unblock Virtual Desktop on steam vr and it should work. That’s all I did and It worked
Quick question, this is Standalone right? I get that you have to link to your pc and all , but- I want to know if the games I play are gonna be running on my pc (like pcvr) , or on my quest? I'm asking because my pc is god awful, and I really hope I can get this type of tracking without having to actually use my pcs performance
@@myaveta it doesn't. Virtual desktop utilises a feature on the quest 3 called iobt (inside out body tracking), which obviously uses the cameras located at the bottom of the quest 3
Technically a lot of people already have virtual desktop because it's better than airlink for pcvr (and also doesn't need a link cable) so yeah for all of those people it would be free compared to something like standable where it is sold seperately and not simply an added feature.
