Here is a new-players guide on how to play VRChat!! :) This is a great video if you’ve never played the game before, or maybe you played but got overwhelmed. I've realized UI interfaces require prior knowledge due to the fact that if they were easy for new people to navigate, they would be clunky AF to people after a week or 2.

ye I used to spend all my time in the hub so I could teach new people how to use their menu. Good way to make friends. But with all the quest users that just scream at you or get touchy I just stay away from the hub now.

I've been trying to get into VR Chat (desktop mode before investing in VR Hardware) for years but every time I open the game: I walk around, somebody says hi to me, and I bloop back to my default spawn point because I'm scared that something creepy or traumatizing might happen. But this video helps me feel more safe and confident. I think I will try to get back into it again. Thank you so so so much!

@@wills242 To be completely honest with you, I don't think real socialization is goanna help there. I do just fine in IRL crowds, but VRC has a special way of creeping me out. Maybe it's the prepubescent Anime Av with a 40-year-old male voice coming out of it, but it's all discomfort, all the time.

same. it’s not like i’m a big talker either but i have no problem walking up and starting a convo with strangers irl. on the other hand, in VRChat this is completely flipped - i am deathly afraid of people talking to me, and if they do, i can’t say a word back. it just makes me feel shitty about myself. i don’t have a problem with the voice on the other end, i think i’m scared of people hearing my own heavy accent? needless to say, i’ve only played it two or three times before quitting.

I'm not sure if I missed it - but another small change that can give you 3-4 frames in a crowded world - is disabling anti-aliasing. Yes, you will see jagged lines, but at least you'll have a few frames to see what is going on. (safety settings -> performance -> adv graphics -> multi-sampling anti-aliasing (select disabled))

7:00 Would have loved if you would have explained a few of the more confusing options like lights and particles , shaders, and custom animations. That are the options no one knows what they do. Also Anti aliasing option under "Security" (Why?) is very important if you pc is slow!!

A very well made beginner video. I have a friend that might be getting a Quest 2 soon so I'll definitely point them to this video in the future. Hey it's only been covered and maybe like one or two places on RU-vid and hasn't worked very well for me (or even outlined properly for that matter) but do you think it would be possible to do a tutorial video on how to port a Tilt Brush creation into a VR Chat world? Things have changed quite a bit since Poly was discontinued, but even on the Quest 2 version, you can export your creations into .glb it's importing/exporting them that I have trouble with. I've seen some really good worlds made in vrchat with Tilt Brush. Even the effects were ported over somehow.

Dude I just got into vr chat 4 days ago and its amazing. Im playing on the lowest rez, windowed mode bcs my dumbass apu has issues with its drivers and inverts colours when full screen but theres no fixes bcs i'm using straight up junk ware no one uses. Regardless, its still an amazing experience

Tnx! Even after half a year of having a quest, making a few avatars and uploading them, I still kinda feel like a noob in VR Chat with pretty much no friends and only occasionally popping into some public rooms (like the black cat) and being surrounded by screaming kids and teens... Still don't really know what else to do in there and I'm not exactly a social butterfly either lol. Are there like 'open' worlds for people with certain hobbies and interests where random people can join to talk about those subjects? and if so, how do you recognise and find them when looking for such worlds? That's something I'm very interested in knowing lol. Eg, I'm interested in stuff like sewing, bushcrafting, gardening/farming, fighting, dancing etc. But yeah.. xD Also, how do you start talking to random people, without feeling like a total outsider butting in on others conversations, when not knowing them LOL

I started off in 8 ball pool worlds for a long time. Took me quite a bit of practice to get any good, but the point was that it made the perfect excuse to be stuck in a small room with strangers. Just hang out, shoot some pool, eventually you'll end up in a conversation with someone. After a while of that, i've got enough friends that i hang out with regularly, so i pretty much just join on one of them whenever i log in

LOL. I know exactly what you mean. I jump into Rec Room or Gorilla tag and there are screaming kids and I'm like, "Yeah, that was fun for three seconds. Hmm, I guess back to Beat Saber and Pistol Whip." There needs to be a wallflower area for people who are sort of shy in VR.

i would recommend rec room. you might be able to find places where you can actually do those hobbies in vr. i know for a fact you can find fighting and dancing worlds. but i have to give credit, you can dance in vr chat too.
