Samantha Hill is as good and pedagogical as Roger Berkowitcz ( who I respect the most and consider excellent). Why this presentation by Samantha is unique? 50% would be fair.
Does Arendt conflate facts and truth? I think she probably does because Ardent’s views on politics and identity (according to the teacher) discounts truthfulness as a part of the conversation in the first instance. “Facts” are those symbols we use as place holders on the maps of measuring and making our identities.Truth is a thing that has staying power, it is a thing that exists prior to, concurrent with and will succeed me. Truth is the measure of me. Truth is that which I contend with by choice. Truth is the good. Lies have no power(.); ergo, they are neither hot or cold. Socrates ever has a guest for tea in the teller truth and together they host the throng of liars. I have not read the work but if it is more sophistry I would rather not bother. Pipe up fans of Hannah Arendt before I find the damn thing and read it.
