Antoine Bandele yeah, it's kind of obvious that this fight wasn't going to be easy for either of them. not to mention that Anakin's right hand is his Achilles' heel, if sith lightning were to be featured in any fights w/sith.

NakedSnake1836 Heck yeah this fight wouldn't be easy. Galen would NOT be able to beat Anakin with his dueling abilities, he simply was not as skilled and his Juyo/Soresu combo would be outclassed by Djem So. The only way Galen wins this is with the Force. I'd say in 10 rounds, Galen wins 6/10.

I still think galen would win, having said that, remember anakin had no training and was raised by a single slave, he was stated to be too old by the jedi because most if them train from like 2 years, galen on the other hand had two jedi (we can assume they were at least knights) available to train him, so yeah it isnt really a fair comparison

That's generally how it goes down in any sport (basketball, boxing, football, etc). LeBron James' prime (peak) was 26, but it started at age 20 for him. He's only recently declined slightly and he's 31.

If Anakin worked as hard as he forced Starkiller to, in both saber combat and force abilities, Obi would have had no chance whatsoever, therefore he never wouldve fallen into the lava with his limbs cut off.

Does not seem like you've read the novel. Galen is far more grounded there. He beat Vader once and he did *not* defeat Sidious. Obi-Wan did not defeat Darth Maul. He killed him do to plot-induced stupidity but he did not defeat him. Obi-Wan did defeat General Grievous somewhat decisively. His mastery of Soresu would take him a long way.

Alright let us discuss Galen and his dueling skills one by one starting with Kota. But of course, this is one of Marek's earlier duels and we know that throughout the book he gets stronger so we could surmise that he surpassed Kota's abilities by the book's end. Let's examine further into the fight. BEGIN CITATION: Anger made [Galen] eager to attack, but he knew better than to give in to it. He hadn't been humiliated. He had successfully tested Kota's defense. Now that he knew a direct attack would probably fail, he had to find another way to get closer to the man. Or to make the Jedi come to him. END CITATION. This indicates how smart of a fighter Galen was. He knew how to dissect someone else's fighting style and strategies, making an extremely skilled duelist. Let's continue. BEGIN CITATION: [Galen] drew his blade close around him, forming a tight defense in deliberate imitation of the Soresu style that Obi-Wan Kenobi had favored. Another solid feat for Galen's dueling efforts. Again, let's continue. BEGIN CITATION: He caught the general in a choke hold and maintained his grip even though it turned partially back on him. He had been ready for this; his lungs were full. The general, however, clutched at his throat with one hand while barely managing to parry with the other. The apprentice let the first in his lungs fuel his lust for triumph. Even as darkness crowded around the edges of his vision, he sent objects hurtling at Kota's legs and face, battling him on all fronts. END CITATION. So we can see, even while being Force choked himself, Galen was able to hurtle objects at Kota, eventually breaking Kota's defenses. This is another good feat for Galen's combative use of Force powers, even while being hindered by his opponent. And let's look at the final bit of their fight BEGIN CITATION: Finally a fragment of smoking debris stuck the general's knees from behind. With a cry of frustration, the flailing Jedi went down, his face purple and eyes bulging. The apprentice relented slightly, letting them both have a little air, but before Kota could scramble to his fee he was on him, pressing down on their locked lightsaber, which sizzled just millimeters from their faces. Kota strained but couldn't force the red blade away. END CITATION. Clearly a decisive win for Galen. Not just because he was younger than Kota but because he was more skilled. And he didn't beat him with Force powers only, he widdled him down as a duelist as he could not penetrate him outright with the Force. First, he softened him up with Force attacks, "testing his defenses." Second, he let Kota come at him with vicious attacks, but he batted each blow away with his proficiency in Soresu. Lastly, he hit him with more Force attacks, eventually bringing him down into a forceful saber lock. So I'm not sure how one comes to the conclusion that Rahm Kota overpowered Galen or that Galen resorted to Force powers to win. Galen is highly underrated as a duelist. I'll continue analysis with his other duels too.

As I said before, if you look closely at the cutscenes or read the FU novelization, then you would see how he was struggling against duelists like Shaak Ti, Maris Brood, or Kota until he began using force moves. If you want to go by he was "weaker" during his dual with Kota, then why did he struggle so badly against the likes of Brood later on, who was simply a fallen Padawan and is virtually feat-less. What I am pointing out is, you're discrediting the fact the Anakin was one of the top duelists in his era, he fully mastered Djem So to the point Dooku himself said he never seen a finer practitioner. What style exactly did Galen fully master? Just compare the notable people they have dueled, Anakin: Obi Wan, Ventress, Count Dooku, Cin Drallig. Galen: General Kota, Shaak Ti, Maris Brood, and a version of Vader weaker than ROTS Anakin. Now tell me who has fought the more powerful opponents. I fail to see how Starkiller can even be seen as a "competent" duelist when all his battles were won through straight up force attacks. Anakin also has above average showings with the force, like hurling around stone pillars around casually as a Padawan during the Clone Wars and moving so fast he is seen as a blur. Unlike, Galen who has flashy gameplay mechanics to back him up. Lastly, I don't think you took into consideration Anakin's force rage(if he even needs it here) which would further enhance his physical capabilities to outmatch Starkiller with ease.

leon kennedy When Anakin became Vader he became stronger in the force (Mostly the dark side) but due to his uncomfortable suit he was physically limited so he couldn't keep up with Starkiller's speed & agility which is how he lost so easily. Even if Anakin haven't lost his limbs or gotten the suit when he fought Obiwan in Ep 3 Starkiller most likely would've still kicked his ass since he is far powerful than Anakin in the force, Vader even said so himself in the beginning of Force Unleashed when he killed Starkiller's father. Plus Starkiller has performed feats that no other force user has ever done before I mean seriously the dude pulled a fucking Star Destroyer from the sky by himself.

+Lyrekem First, Vader pre-suit is not the same Vader with suit.And at the end of SWTFU Starkiller could also go toe to toe with Sidious (not saying he can beat Palpatine, just put on a fight, as he did before the Emperor showed what is to be THE Dark Lord). So, following that logic, he could be a rival to any dark sider... That is a bold statement... Bottom line, on my first reply I said I wouldnt discuss the outcome, just the means... I still think Starkiller could beat Vader, but not crushed under a tree, and not with all limbs intact... I think this fight would go down on a clash of light sabers than a showcase of force skills... But again, thats my point of view.

It is certainly plausible that Anakin could lose. I am not disregarding that possibility. However, I tried to bring to the debate more alternative scenarios where Skywalker could win. My purpose was to ally with the apparent underdog, because from what I see and read, many people think the Chosen One would have no chance. That is why I wrote an ending where Skywalker WINS. The reason galen won against vader was in large part due to both vader's limited range of mouvement AND high sensitivity to force lightning given by his prostetics. However those weaknesses were given to vader by sidious to not be overpowered by him. His right arm most likely didn't had that weakness or at least not in the same level which would ultimately take away from galen his biggest advantage against anakin and result in his defeat against the chosen one.

Michael Griggs fair enough. Provided the other categories between the two combatants are close to equal, the force edge will push one to victory. Grevious had such a massive dueling advantage over those Jedi that their force abilities were null.

Martin Gamer Talking about force feats? Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 3 Episodes 16-18 show exactly how powerful Anakin really was. He was able to restrain two celestials (the Son and the Daughter, considered to have godlike force powers) and prove his force dominance over the both of them simultaneously. Keep in mind these two were in the realm of Mortis because they were so powerful that they threatened to imbalance and disrupt the galaxy from their incredible power, and Anakin managed to restrain them with raw force power. That's a way bigger feat than just redirecting a Star Destroyer. Sure, Galen Marek definitely has the edge as far as application is concerned, but in a straight up force vs. force duel, Anakin would win, due to his superior raw power.

Then combine the huge raw potential of Anakin's ability to defend against Force powers and you have a perfect natural counter to Galen. Although I truly believe that this is why Anakin cultivated his style in such a fashion due to the fact that he knew that it would be the most effective against other force users. Anakin knew his biggest threat was fellow users of the force (more specifically Sith), therefore the necessity to dedicate more time training for this specific tactic. Nunayo BizNas I actually believe the opposite. I believe someone like Galen, who has a lot of Force potential, would have heightened abilities when faced with impending death. Anakin has shown an oversight in regards to his Force wall (see his duel with Dooku where he's shocked with lightning). But he most certainly would defend with his lightsaber (in regards to lightning). It'd be a bit more difficult to defend against a repulse.

I'm assuming the situation you are referring to is the duel that occurred towards the end of AoTC (episode II). If this is the case then you're basing Anakin's weaknesses on events that occurred prior to reaching his maximum potential. Using this logic I could say that almost everybody is more powerful than Galen since he could be easily dispatched in a vs duel when he was a newborn baby. The only dual that you should focus on is the one that occurred at the beginning of RoTS (episode III) where he easily dispatched Dooku since this is just about the best example of Anakin in his prime. Therefore it's my belief that you've underestimated Anakin's defensive Force capabilities. We may have to just agree to disagree on this one.

Nope. Vader in Legends is way stronger than Anakin ever was according to George Lucas. He destroyed an entire Planet by crashing its moon on it. He also wiped out an entire fleet by making the Ships crush against each other. And was equal to Palpatine. He even almost killed the old man a few times

It was also intended to creatively demonstrate that the fight was in Starkiller's control, just as the author illustrated. Anakin needed guile, quick thinking, & reflexes to "flip" the momentum of the duel. Skywalker drew upon natural raw ability to break Galen's force wall on his lightsaber.

nick daulizio galen was practicing every day since he was a child with vader in intense sith trainings.... the diffein experience isnt all that much and idk wym barely a match. Galen beat vader multiple times

No. Sidious states Anakin *could* have been more powerful than he. However, by ROTS, pre-suit Vader was not yet powerful enough to overthrow Sidious. He had no formal training just yet. And the Jedi Anakin, which is the one observed in this video, certainly would not challenge Sidious, he couldn't even make sense of his moves when he fought Mace Windu. Galen was not "allowed" to beat Vader. He beat him by shear skill and insight: Let's analyze the Galen/Vader fight: BEGIN CITATION: [Galen] knew the intimacies of [Vader's] refined version of Djem So, a fighting style that incorporated elements of Ataru, Soresu, and Makashi. Galen hits Vader with some lightning, yet never giving in to the dark side, realizing he does not hate Vader, only pities him. Eventually, Galen finds a break in Vader's defense. So yes, Galen did have some issues with Vader in the beginning but he quickly took up ground against him and finished the fight. Once Galen got over the initial shock, all Vader could managed was to skid the fabric on his clothing.  Now this does not mean Galen beats Anakin in a dueling scenario. I still think Anakin takes it in that regard but it does show Galen can defend against astounding strength and precision, enough to which, I believe, he can employ his more skillful use of the Force against Anakin. Also, you underestimate Maul. Maul could easily contend with Anakin Skywalker.

Thanks for stating your opinion, though I don't see the need to reiterate the entire Vader/Galen fight. Personally I think the Force Unleashed games were highly exaggerated and the idea that Galen could contend with Vader or Sidious conflicts too much with the movies, as it would largely make what Luke did pointless, but that's not the point of this video. Lucas has said himself that Vader, in his suit, could have beaten Sidious. He did, in the end, though he died. There is no way Galen's Force lightning was as powerful as Sidious' and so Vader could've been more likely to deflect it with his lightsaber, as Obi-Wan did to Dooku. I simply see no way someone trained as a mere tool of Vader could be strong enough to beat both him and Sidious.

Kaleb H Really? I don't remember Lucas saying Vader could beat Sidious (no sarcasm, being serious). Where is the source for this? I was not following the game feats, but Galen's books feats. I think the issue most people have with this is well . . . Galen. Most people just don't like the idea of him. But yes, he was a strong Force user, mostly due to the fact that both his parents were Force-sensitives.

I can't remember the source, but I do remember Lucas saying it later on. The main issue was that Vader's suit would essentially cause him to die too if he tried to kill Sidious, and the fact he was unwilling to do it and basically didn't believe he could. My problem as I said is that Galen is from a video game in which they specifically exaggerated his Force powers, which they said they had to do because the video game media is bigger and more visual. Also, my problem is that it makes Luke seem far less than he really was.

No, not even close. He trained for about 20 years and was struggling with ANH Vader who is a far less formidable foe than ESB Vader, and ROTJ was Vader's prime. He also had knowledge of Vader's style. The only true measuring stick we have of Anakin's true potential is EU Luke, who is so much more powerful than Galen it is not even funny.

Galen wasn't trained with a lightsaber by Vader, vader taught him the dark side, proxy taught Galen. Anakin was trained by obi wan one of the greatest Jedi ever.

Not to mention that Sidious and Vader purposely hampered his training to make sure he didn't grow too powerful.

Ah, but you are discounting Galen's defensive abilities. He wouldn't be nicked by Anakin because Anakin was trying to nick him, it would be because he'd sidestep the blows so he would not be bisected.

you stated Anakin bladework is faster. Now he has more power & speed off his counters which typically catch the opponent off guard. Even if Galen sees the attack coming he will be out of position against a faster opponent therefor he wouldn't have time to block or sidestep. Anakins mastery of Shien/Djem So is death for reckless attackers which Star killer is. If Galen spends to much time engaging Anakin in this fight he will lose imo.

That is the mainstay for Juyo. Offense. All his other opponents have had major weaknesses in their duel style; Vader his equipment & lack of speed, Kota his stamina, Shaak Ti styles (2 & 4) lacked strength. Anakin doesn't have Vaders physical limitations. His style is worst case scenario for Juyo specialists. Changing between 2 styles isn't instantaneous. Counter attacking would keep him off balanced & uncomfortable having to switch between form 3 & 7. Crippling his offense & his power strikes would break his defense.

B Keehn98 Juyo offense is not synonymous with recklessness. Vader did ultimately lose by lack of speed, but only barely. Kota did *not* lose because of lack of stamina, he just was straight up outclassed. Shaak Ti was out-fencing Galen the whole time, Galen won by luck (he says it himself in the book). I agree that Anakin's use of Djem So puts him above Galen. Switching between two styles is certainly no good against a form that is dedicated to counters. But I do think Galen's Force abilities would put him over that top.

@@charliebaker1427 Nah he wasn't. He was more refined and a more complete duelist due to the nature of his disabilities. But he was definitely not more powerful. More practiced and less arrogant possibly, but not more powerful. His connection to the force was severely weakened after becoming Vader and his Lightsaber style was weakened too as he couldn't raise his arms above his head and his style had to be a lot more closed and defensive to protect the console on his chest.

And let's look at the fact that anakin had way more experience in combat than star killer, even though anakin was head strong and rushed into combat he was able to hold on his on against count dooku several times. Starkiller never really faced a strong opponent, the video games make him way to powerful and everyone else weak
