I dealt with severe depression all of my life up until October of last year when I took 9.5g of Psilocybin mushrooms and had the most profound night of my life. I let go of a lot of pain that I had built up over my life and I have never dealt better.

Re: the "War on Drugs" ... one of the things that has always bothered me is that, all throughout my childhood (graduated HS in '99), the phrase was "drugs AND alcohol," when in fact alcohol is one of the most dangerous of all drugs, physically and statistically.

I recall taking Ayahuasca as one of the most wonderful experiences on my 30 years being alive. It was on this small town in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon Forest, took a 3 day boat ride to get there. It was just me and my girlfriend at the time, so it was much more personal I feel. If there was a symbol that embodies the trip for me, it's a heart shaped symbol as I only felt pure love, gratitude, joy and other wonderful feelings for everyone and everything on my life. You think of almost everyone who has influenced you, and it's amazing how the brain relates everything. The ceremony lasted around 9 hours, where almost the entire time we were meditating on a hammock. Left alone with our thoughts, some soothing music set up by our shaman and only got up to go to the bathroom. Visually, I saw many shapes, especially from any light source when it was almost dark (such as a flashlight, or any light pole). I literally could see the light waves emit from the light source, it's kinda hard to explain, but very similar to the guy that makes the album art for Tool (I'm aware these are DMT/Ayahuasca inspired). It is something I'd recommend to anyone who is experiencing some kind of life issue, those being job-related, family, love, any thing that involves how we feel. It is NOT for everyone though as the experience is very strong, and sadly not all people can handle a psychedelic experience such as this one - or even LSD, or magic mushrooms. But in the end you really feel like any issue you may have inside, unties. I do not recommend if if you are simply looking to "trip balls", instead you must have a purpose. A question to be answered by yourself (concerning any issue on your life at the time). It is really amazing how this substance can help you understand everything around you and the effect it may have afterwards on your life.

my father did ayahuasca and he's told me crazy stories about him facing his deepest fear, he himself doesn't remember what it is. he said it made him a stronger person mentally. he told me how everyone around him was laughing at him. people were holding him down too. i wanna try it one day!

Vsauce meets Psychedsubstances

Not wanting to feel forced is a huge deal with psychedelics, especially dmt or ayahuasca. The dmt you smoke can hit almost instantly if you do enough to break through, and if you don't dose it yourself or know the dosage you can be thrown into a very very intense trip. Speaking from personal experience. You can't control the dmt or the trip, however you can control your environment up until you take the hit. Surround yourself with your favorite art, a trip sitter, and calming music or none at all.

Just came back from a 3 day Ayahuasca retreat in Orlando, FL. WOW! I had obsessive compulsive issues including the need to urinate hourly, excessive alcohol consumption, and over all anxiety. I no longer wake up to pee 3 times a night, no caffeine or alcohol, and best of all no more anxiety. Like fucking none!

for me, I cant take psychedelics because I’m prone to anxiety and severe depersonalization/derealization, and it lasted for MONTHS. Make sure you’re mentally well enough before you try anything. I wished someone told me before.

I went to ayahuasca first time today, i am 24. I can honestly say this changed my life,i never puked,i was smiling,felt like a child,felt so much love and gratefulness for everything nature has given us. I also saw "bad" things of my personality sort of,melt into dust and disappear. And so much more,just really too much to describe,there aren't exactly words to describe these emotions, people who have tried it will completely understand.

I've yet to take Ayahuasca, but shortly after medically discharging from the Army 3 years ago, I underwent an theraputic DMT experience, and few months later, an LSD experience (no knowledge/experience of entheogens prior to these two experiences), and they were just, indescribable; beautifully tragic, profoundly terrifying, blissfully reality-shattering and reality-rebuilding, was crazy. Can certainly relate to Timoty Leary as far as, I learned more in my 2 psychedelic experiences than I ever learned in any amount of schooling or the military lol. I had the "social baggage" feeling when I first started smoking weed. The first time I smoked I was with some friends. We got caught by a cop. My parents had to come get us and my mother was raging pissed because im black and the "war on drugs is a war against people of color" (true). Did not smoke for years after that, but every time I smoked I was SUPER paranoid. I had to be in a super secure place, I had to know who i was with and I would NOT go anywhere else outside of the planned smoking spot. I felt like a drug addict or some junkie because I would through great lengths to not get caught or smell like weed or "look high". I would have to hide and smoke in secret where no one could find me until It wore off, I felt like I loved smoking weed because I had these awesome thoughts and feelings, but I hated feeling of paranoia and shame for having to hide it...social pressures definitely made the early experiences much worse for me. Once I got my own place and my girl was cool with me smoking in the house, the anxiety was much better, but it was still there. Then one day my girl just came into the room, sat down and simply told me to chill out. She said no one was going to hurt me or judge me and I should just smoke and enjoy it. After hearing her say that its like I gave my own mind permission to just lay back and enjoy some weed and not feel pressured and relax more. then obama said publicly that he smoked weed... and then lots of celebrities admitted to smoking...Now Martha Stewart and snoop dogg have a weed cook book!? then the states started decriminalizing weed in mass (federal needs to let it go and remove schedule 1 status!!). I feel so much better now that all the popular closet smokers have come forward and opened up about how they have been smoking weed for years, but never could admit it because it would hurt their career. I think psychedelics can help a lot of people suffering with mental disabilities and people with deep rooted issues.. They honestly could help some of these power hungry crazy people take a step back from the grind and just see things differently...I honestly feel like it would make the world a better place if people could go to a place, pay money to have these psychedelic experiences in a safe and comfortable environment and not feel like they are breaking the law

It warms my heart to see more and more people opening their hearts and minds. It gives me hope. I can't even find proper words to deliver this feeling. We have the future right in our hands. Respect psychedelics and all life.

People don’t realize, you can have a bad trip, without literally taking any drugs... Set up your environment so it would be a good trip even if you weren’t on anything, and you’ll have a good trip with your boosters...

Lsd helped me to heal from my anxiety and depression by allowing to see the world in a different perspective. I was able to analyze my trip to better understand myself and who i am. Through my experiences with psychedelics and meditation, i now love myself and i feel so much happiness and satisfaction. I am grateful to be alive and on this earth. I am not perfect however i am perfect the way i am.

Man i love this guy

Just wanted to share that I’d begrudgingly been taking an SSRI for 15 years. This year I went off them temporarily so I could take only 2 grams of mushrooms. I didn’t expect much of a response and I had no significant psychedelic effects. It could be coincidence, but I went 6 months before I restarted meds. I haven’t gone that long without an SSRI for 15 years. I’m bumping up to 3 grams soon. I’d love to hear about anybody else’s experiences with psychedelics for depression.
