Most hard fought race of the weekend, also the last one for me. Had a great battle with Dave Amys. He has me at the start - watch to see how it comes out. We both set 2:50.xx lap times, personal best for me. We were pushing each other hard!

“I paid my entree fee. I get to use all the track” 😂. Great racing and video as always! What an exciting finish!

Nice driving. Do you know why the track layout graphic showing your position was out of whack?

The track map / speed / lap time / g-force overlay is compiled from the GPS data the GoPro Hero 8 Black captures. Sometimes it does a good job of that, sometimes not so much. The screwed up track map is because of inaccurate GPS data.

Very nice driving....I have seen many in cars at RA where the drivers are nowhere near the apex or track out! That being said, two small suggestions: in turn 14 use the same track you did in turns 1 and 3 on lap 2. Go over the painted curb to the bare concrete...you will carry more speed up the hill and on the front straight. At the kink, you perform a small confidence lift...could you not just go through the turn flat...that will really help your exit speed. Great side by side with the spitfire in 12 and a couple of corners on the following lap. Keep up the smooth driving.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into the Turn 14 one. I know I can do the Kink flat if done perfectly, but still have a bit of PTSD from doing that but early apexing and scaring myself witless.

Yes, early apexing the kink is not good (did that once myself...pretty scary)..One tip given to me early on was to put my right front tire on the inside apex curve....it really straightens out the corner. One more great tip given me...was to concentrate on putting your foot down earlier coming out of each corner...work up to it. that was the single biggest thing which improved my lap time.@@TonyDrews

@@jimf5160 Got a tip to try straddling the inside curb in the Kink. The one time I tried that my trans popped out of 4th so that didn't work so well. Hitting the curb upsets the car a bit and sends it wide, so it's pretty scary to try. I typically ease into the gas (fairly quickly) in the turns, try to be on the power very early in them. I tend to back up the turn a bit so I'm on the power with the car rotating at the apex if possible. Not exactly what the F1 drivers do, but they don't drive 60-year-old Triumphs either. :)

Maybe there is a way to more firmly mount the trans....or there is a worn synchro hub? I always thought the inside curb at the kink mild...and of course, must of your weight transfer is to the outside wheel, so that makes the curb bump less. I completely agree with your philosophy....when I raced FWD, you really had to go slow in fast out to make time...and even with the MGB V8 that worked well. Of course, the F1 cars have downforce...with the S2000, you had some ground effect, you need to to go faster through the corner to keep up the grip.Yes, 60 yr old triumphs are handle more like the MGB.@@TonyDrews

@@jimf5160 The popping out of 4th gear is new this weekend. I have a dog box so no synchros. I ham fisted a shift into 4th partway through the weekend and the gearbox hasn't been the same since. Had to start using the clutch on the upshift, hold it in gear when part throttle. It's OK accellerating / decelerating. One of those 15 seconds I wish I had back... The suspension geometry in the TR4 isn't great, so you overcome that with stiff springs. That doesn't help compliance over curbs.
