@ShaunM - I give him points for speaking in a clear and understandable manner. Many of the technical videos on youtube these days are narrated by people who are difficult to understand.

Thank you for this lecture. Does this cluster work with just one NIC with the help of VLAN and port grouping or for high availability one should have more than one NICs?

The actual transcript has not been loaded for this video at this time, so Google Translation is trying to do it on it's own (and as you pointed out not very well!). We will have a cc file loaded for the video soon.

The host which has the most number of data stores mounted is automatically chose as the master host.

Can I configure this without SAN? I have 4 hosts and 4 datastores.

mangkaw321 From our engineer... Let's assume they are talking about non-SAN "shared" datastores like iSCSI or NFS. Yes, VMCP is still supported. i.e. it is supported for SAN, iSCSI, NFS based datastores. However, if they talk about non-shared datastores (say, local datastores, then VMCP/HA will work but NOT quite useful, because there is no other host to failover the VM (since the datastore is local to only one host where the VM files reside). Hope it clarifies.

If the master fails, another will be elected, and it will pick up where the other one left off. If a partition of the management network occurs, then each partition that does not have a master will elect one. When the partition is resolved, all but one of the masters will abdicate.
