VST Filter Comparison - Serum, Sylenth, Synthmaster One, Spire, Dune, Hive, Massive, ANA2, Twin2 

Diva's awesome, I decided not to do synths that are specific analog emulations like Diva, Repro, Monark, etc, since they're aiming for different territory

agree, ana 2 has a different sound than all the others, enjoyable. hive 2 and twin2 easily the worst

They sound soft

For sure, I had Hive set to Dirty mode because that gets a really great filter character from it

Basically because if you've mastered all of them and fully understand the ins and outs of each one, there's actually very little difference between them. I made these videos to show how all the stuff people say on Reddit and other forums about how any particular synth sounds warmer, harsher, colder, more analog, more lush, fatter, thinner, you name it, than another synth, they pretty much just don't know what they're doing. The choice to be made mostly comes down to features (included effects, quality of those effects, modulation options, filter options, etc) and workflow. Now that said, this particular video isn't super effective because the real differences with filters come out when you play with the resonance, which is set to 0 here. I made another video where I showed some filters sweeps with resonance bumped up, and the differences are more audible. But if we're talking raw oscillator sound, by and large they are extremely similar if not the same in most cases.

@@joshuaadam1775 Interesting take. I've tried over and over again to create the same sound with Dune and Serum for example, a simple bass or a pad, etc. Always Failed to make them sound identical. :D Maybe I'm doing something wrong. It would be an interesting video if you try to recreate different classic sounds with some of those plugins. Thanks for the answer :)

No! Twin 2 is a shit , Dune 3 & Sylenth1 are best.

I definitely agree that Dune is much better than ANA 2 for most things. I do love ANA 2 for psytrance and FM stuff though.

Have you sold your ANA 2 license to someone yet?

Yeah there's really just something special about Sylenth for sure. I decided not to do Pigments in this video because I don't own it, only demo'd it and didn't want to deal with it not saving settings :)
