This is just amazing work guys, loved every aspect of it the song, acting, scenery everything...words are not even enough to describe it...our Fijian culture is so rich and pure and full of history...this needs to transpire into a movie 🎥....so well done...Vinaka boys!!!
Iam from Tanganyika Afrika, proud to view this pure african culture from fiji, all we know our grandfather taken from afrika to entire Europe, America and many islands for slave business, your welcome home. #Karibu nyumbani Tanganyika now known as Tanzania, the country of highest mountain in africa #Kilimanjaro
Kaka, Tanganyikans in Fiji did not get there in slave trade. They travelled there themselves. Crossing lands, lakes and oceans!! They settled in Pacific like many other pioneers who left their lands travelled the world and found paradise on earth. They kept their stories and now they are our history. Both Fijian Tanganyikan and us, Tanzanian Tanganyika. Absolute great piece of black/African history in exploring the globe. Lets we remember anyway, all human family tree is traced back to Afrika! Bomba sana.
@@jahmulugu4425 I understanf the slave not taken to Fiji but to be near by fiji and end of slave business pushed then to look for good pastures , so some they decided to go fiji and others to another islands. We proud to hear some of them to remember their originated land "Tanganyika"
From Tanzania 🇹🇿 which was formaly known Tanganyika before merged with Zanzibar, im glad i found this song! More love to brothers and sisters out there , welcome to 🇹🇿 guys
Finally !!!! Well portrayed message, no walking by the hills or standing by the beach under a coconut tree music video we're so used too. The artists, productions team and everyone involved must be recognised & protected immediately💯🇫🇯
Just curiosity!. And a genuine question. Why everytime Fiji has something of its own. People of Samoa and Tonga has to put their Flags right there with us in the conversations.
@@trishabidesi8604 because as Pacific Islanders we appreciate ALL our brothers and sisters and historically Fiji Samoa and Tonga have always had close relations with eachother compared to other Polynesian/Melanesian islands. Though it may seem Samoans and Tongans only represent themselves but at the foundation we love our Fijian brothers just as much as we do ourselves. When Samoa defeated England for the World Cup final spot not only did we feel proud as Samoans but as a pacific nation that represents ALL our people. So when you see other flags mixed with Fiji it’s out of love and respect.🙏🏾😇
@trishabidesi8604 why is that even a question? No doubt this is a fjiian song. It's good to see where fijian music is appreciated from and in this case, from our pasifika family.
Love this song and now watching the video makes it even better. Ngamihi nui Fiji whanau well done this song is on repeat. Maori girl listening loud and proud of you all
This gave me chills and I love the vision here. I'm from Philippines but my wife is Fijian and I continually get amazed by the people and the country. I don't understand the lyrics but I'm trying to learn the language through music 😅 Much love from our family in Australia!
This music video has got to be right up there next to Black Rose music videos. Everything was freaking awesome! The cuts between the past and present. The song. The fight scenes. Too GOOD! 👌🏽👏🏽
Some people thinks of history as a boring tale. And this is why most of us lack understanding of our origins and roots. But thankfully this song makes history worth listening to.❤️ Hands down, this song deserves an award. The song itself plus the video is a vibe
You know tho that this legend isnt true right? It was created by the colonialists when they couldn’t figure how us as Fijian came to be because there were dark and fair skinned Fijians all over Fiji. So they made this legend up and had it spread. I love this song too, but let’s not let the colonialists win. My source? UU204 at USP. (:
@@Ceel00yy while you are true and it has been proven to be a fabrication but if you dig deeper you will be amazed to see what’s buried in the chronicles of history. I did a research whilst studying Pacific Vernacular at USP, and while academics had already declared it wasn’t worth pursuing, my research earned their respect and recognition. Sometimes we need to read between the lines. On this note we question ourselves how is one man can give a detailed account mentioning names of people and places and not use other names and other places? What was the inspiration? Why did he use the reason of departure as stipulated in that account and not use another reason?Further research will divulge and connect the dots and reveal much more that will unravel one’s imagination. There’s a connection.😎
Linguistic evidence offers more powerful evidence of our southeast Asian roots. Things become a lot clearer when we analyse the Austronesian family of languages, of which Malayo-Polynesian is a part. For instance, the Tagalog language of the Philippines shares many common words and certain grammatical structures with those of Fijian and other languages of the Pacific: Numbers three = tatlo five = lima eight= walo Parts of the body head: ulu eyes: mata ears: talinga (Macuata dialect: taliga) Other vocabulary nail: pako faeces: tae (Macuata dialect: tae) father: ama (Macuata dialect: ama) Possessives my father: ama ko (Macuata dialect: amaku) your father: ama mo (Macuata dialect: amamu)
In forgot to add imagine that colonialist wrote in 14 publications during the ten years competition. That’s a lot to write about. When I visited the Jewish Museum in 2018. I took with me 3 writings from 3 different caves in Fiji. No one has ever been able to decipher or translate these writing, until when I presented a picture of the writings from the Sawailau caves in the Yasawa. As mentioned above you will be amazed to find informations when you dig deeper. “One has to wonder also at the ease with which these early Christians were being converted. I do acknowledge God’s power in transforming people’s personality and beliefs once people commit themselves and the power of His words in the Holy Bible. I feel, however, that these early Fijians needed a crutch, given that they were fresh from tribal warfares and related intemperance. “There are the people’s culture and tradition and all its values of respect, morality of what is right and wrong, honour and dignity. These are Christian values essentially and when the early missionaries were preaching to the early Fijians about these same values, their sermons were falling on to fertile grounds and conversion sprouted as a result.” Charles Montgomery - The Shark God - Encounters with the Myth & Magic in the South Pacific, 2006, Fourth Estate. He was paraphrasing a R. H. Codrington who “ventured they had already equipped Melanesians with a sense of right and wrong, a belief in life after death, and a concept of something like a human soul. In other words, there was already some light in Melanesia before missionaries arrived. Kastom had in fact provided the heathens with a good foundation for Christian teaching”. Jah Bless
Now idk about y'all but this music video is a straight bangerrrrrr. Y'all did the thing and this makes me proud as hell to be an itaukei Fijian. Black pacific representation at its best! 👏🏾🔥
There aren’t enough words to describe how theatric and compelling this video is! I must commend on the juxtaposition being used between past and present. The storytelling between the two timelines is immaculate! The scenery. The beautiful display of our Itaukei culture. Totoka Vakaoti! 🇫🇯 🤌🏾👍🏾
This video narrative correctly captures or tells of those who left Viti. The well known ones was from lake Taganiika and Egypt. They traversed vast oceans on the Drua and travelled through foreign lands before arriving. They came back. They definitely encountered a fierce welcome. But their influence wasn't snubbed. They ruled. The Verata empire reigned. Awesome video! More more 🎼🔊...🙂
Unfortunately that African narrative's not exactly correct. They actually sustained their journey across the Asian corridor from Taiwan down to the south pacific. There's proof in the form of DNA and our language. So technically you guys are uplighting a foreign nation instead of fiji.
Wow 👌 There's a clear message on our true identity as Fijians (I taukei). That no matter where you are, always remember who you are.Who we are now has a long history and one of which is the journey of our ancestors. All they went through to find a safe haven for all Kavitis. We will rise and take back what is always have been rightfully ours.
After hearing this and some of the stories associated with it. I feel it's time we have either a documentary describing actual events that occurred and a book published. So that we don't loose any part of this exquisite and interesting history.
This video sets the standards to common Fijian songs and its basic videos, mostly Kavoro songs (levu ga na yabe i matasawa lol) Good to see that music productions in Fiji is improving its quality as potrayed by this masterpiece...
