what is your favorite warhammer animation?????? i watched a few of them in this stream and i have to say astartes is my favorite because ONE guy did all of that.... very impressive to me!!!!
My favorite is Death Korps of Krieg, sort of the 40k take on World War 1 trench warfare ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hmv9YA2pS-g.htmlsi=JI64ZPcssIOwnv05
My favorite Warhammer 40,000 animation series (more like paper cutout puppets, but that's part of the charm) is "If The Emperor Had A Text-to-Speech Device." It's a hilarious, loving parody of WH40K and a great way learn the lore since it is surprisingly accurate. Unfortunately, it is unfinished and may never be because Games Workshop (parent company of Warhammer & WH40K) started their own streaming service in 2021, putting fan works on ice in the process. The ETTS archive is big & some of the characters were repackaged in a Hunter: The Gathering setting, so there's still plenty to watch.
"If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device" by Bruva Alfabusa is amazing, it's a mix between parody, actual in universe history and Warhammer memes. Also it's animation style is different. Could be used to learn more about the setting, or to get the jokes once learn more, both are completely valid. My personal favorite is "Helsreach (2019)", it's basically a two hour film about a book, made over years to the point that the animation fidelity changes as the story progresses, but it's not jarring at all. The voice acting is amazing (I think is ripped from the audiobook), the story is great and instead of "talking about" space marines, you can get a look on how they work in the setting itself while looking cool and dramatic. Both have subtitles btw if you wanna check them out on stream.
Attenborough Lore is a good channel to go to to learn more about the Lore of the 40K universe, but the best animation of a Lore story would be Helsreach by Richard Boylan, there are 13 parts animating a novel, really good watch.
@@mrbeemstdraws286 Honestly, it might as well be a separate setting. It's 10,000 years in the past and while there are impacts into the future, much of it isn't going to be that necessary, especially if you're interested in a faction that's not astartes. The scale of 40k is so massive that apocalyptic events that impact hundreds of planets could go unnoticed to the rest of the galaxy.
I highly recommend the "brief" 2-part explanation of the factions done by Bricky. Not animated or anything, but it's a great look into all of the alien races, presented with a good amount of humor and visuals but diving deep enough to get you really interested in the lore of each of them and how they interact in history and ongoing story. There is also another "short" video covering just the Space Marine factions and what each one of them is about.
Luetin09 is easily the best channel for introducing noobs to 40k. High-quality content that stays away from the memes that some others peddle as facts.
Her chat told her to watch bruciy but every time she complained about not wanting to sit and just watch a guy talk/don't want to sit and watch such long videos. As I recall at the end she watched 1 bricky video, but ended stream after it saying she didn't like it that much.
I am NOT surprised that the 2nd topmost comment is somebody telling her to watch bricky's short 2-parter. I swear I've been doing this so much myself every time somebody checks out 40K.
@@lonelystrategosNot really, I love the guy but his videos are too in-depth for newcomers. I would suggest the Adeptus Ridiculous first, cus while they aren't as accurate, each topic is given the right amount of time to learn what matters, and the jokes make it more entertaining. So the ideal is first AR then when you want to get neck deep in the lore, go to Luetin. PD: Oh yeah, forgot about Majorkill. He goes for more specific things and theories/hypothetical scenarios. And he's aussie as fuck, which makes his videos hilarious imo XD
Welp, she already has a favourite faction. Can't wait for her to spend all her superchat money on little plastic minis. (Coni, in case you're reading this, the armoured ladies you mentioned are called "sisters of battle". One of their units is a pipe organ mounted on a tank chassis but when you play the notes it also shoots out rockets.)
They also have angels with flamers, a literal coffin dance meme turned into a mini, and the baller mechs from Aliens piloted by even angrier women than Ripley.
I can imagine a Thousand Sons warband seeing the funny haha clown vtuber liking them and instantly producing an excess of geneseed, if you know what I'm saying XDDD
No no, it all began when geezer toad men ended up creating an incredibly violent shroom army to fight off super germaphobic robot asshole skelly doods which fight ended up creating space magic cancer given form.
@@larrytherustyboii7442no no no it all began with alien toad men refusing to give the secrets of sun lotion and cancer therapy to a bunch of shriveled egyptians alien bois
If you're genuinely interested in learning more about the wh40k universe, id highly recommended Bricky's "Every Warhammer 40k faction explained" as well as "Every Warhammer 40k space marine legion explained" They are both extremely accurate, offer a very broad but still in depth explanation enough to get a good grasp on what its all about. Not to mention they are very funny. Bricky does a great job teaching about this stuff as well as keeping it entertaining.
Yes Brickies videos are probably a prefect introduction overfiew. However accurate he is not, his videos are riddled with mistakes. Which doesn`t really matter since if you are able to pick up on those you are already way to deep down the rabbit hole yourself 🙂
So My favorite part of Warhammer 40k is the horror side of it. It's not as apparent on table top, but imagine not being sure you did not just die getting to wherever you got too, and not being able to not hallucinate about the waking nightmare you have awakened too. The "Space Marines" have been breed to travel in space and "deal" with this unknowable horror. LOL
"She should not have said that!" Yeah.....down the rabbit hole into the grim dark future of endless lore. More lore than any one person could consume in 100 years.
"Warhammer 40K is a science fiction and fantasy franchise for adults or grimdark as it is usually referred to, created in 1987 by the British company Games Workshop, it began as an adaptation of another great Games Workshop title called Warhammer Fantasy" -A puppy in a cup
Watching you see the 40k universe got me thinking: “First time?” Edit: not only will you learn about the lore, but also the table top game associated with it. When you are ready (this might be a little early) and want the hard facts, Bricky has a video explaining all the factions and lore in a nutshell
Thanks for this vid Coni. You usually stream at 4 am for me so I can't really watch you live and don't have time for VODs, so I really appreciate you doing this
I love how she said she was only going to look up "a little bit" about Warhammer. Oh my sweet summer child, there is no such thing as "just a little bit" with Warhammer, welcome to the rabbit hole.
I have an innate love for my Krieg bois so "Death korps of Krieg" is one of my favorite animations, but last year I discovered a guy named Max Murray that has been working on a dreadnought series, Walking Dread, Dread Fall and recently Red Dread, freaking love my barley human toasters.
I think the "Rule of Cool" is what gets most people into Warhammer. I remember being 12 and walking into my local game store for some yugioh cards when I noticed these cool little bug figures that you could assemble and paint, and then noticed all the rule books with these snippets of story throughout. It was over for me at that moment. 20 years later and I still paint, collect, and read the books.
The little green thing doesn't know what she's doing, she's summoning the warhammer vtuber fans, we cannot be stopped, we are everywhere. WE ARE THE HAMMER!
40k lore in a nutshell: Everything sucks, everyone's depressed and angry, everybody hates everyone else, and no one's having fun. Except the orks. Which is why they're morally and legally the best.
If you want to try and get into the lore of 40k, a video I recommend is bricky's every faction explained video as it provides a good introduction to the basics of the more important things to know, and also some more specific pieces of lore for each faction.
She did that but the stream is unarchived, so unless you live in America and it wasn't 4:00 in the morning when her stream came on, your just never gonna be able to watch it.
If you're curious, I'd recommend Luetin09 for lore videos. He covers everything in detail and at length. Definitely more "lecture" than a memey sort of video, but really good if you want to dive into 40K.
Our brothers run to the edges of the Imperium to cower in the shadows of the Dark Gods that protect them. Only we, the Night Lords, the sons of Konrad Curze, are strong enough to stand alone. We will bring our wrath upon the empire that betrayed us, and though the ages may see us divided and broken by the endless war ahead, we will stand untainted until the stars themselves die. ’ - The war-sage Malcharion Excerpted from his work, The Tenebrous Path,"
( 4:51 ) they’re not just fungus, they also have the power of cartoon bullshit. If enough of them believe in something, that something manifests irl. For example, they believe colors have meaning. If Red means fast, then the vehicles painted red will be faster then the others.
my favorite creature in warhammer 40k is the tyranid. tyranid is basically a galaxy sized eldritch monster that comprised entirely of zergs upon zergs upon zergs of tyranids.
Every single faction/team comes with their own lore. Best thing to do when starting is to buy the cortex of the team you want to play as with a set to start out with.
Idk how all these adorable Vtubers are finding out about Warhammer, but I'm loving every second of it. I sincerely hope Coni gets into the lore and maybe some of the other Warhammer media, like the games and fan music. And if you ever see this Coni, I'd highly recommend Bricky's lore videos for newbies.
8:53 YYYEEEEEEESSS!!!!! I do not know who you are, and I do not know if the mists will bring me here again, but this moment alone has earned you my sub. Thank you for the joy it brought me.
Rejoice and tremble! For you are the uninitiated, and we of the Lore have come to you. “Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only War!”
40K is the most epic sci-fi universe ever created. The books are incredible. Can't go wrong with Dan Abnett's, Eisenhorn, Ranenor, Gaunt's Ghosts and Space Marine series'.
8:39 the thing about that Space Marine's red helmet, is it used to be a mark of shame in their chapter; you dun messed up, you have to wear the red helmet; but then one guy got punished for speaking the truth even tho nobody believed him and then when he was vindicated and it turned out he was right and he saved the day it turned into a badge of pride, and is now worn by the champions of the chapter
"It looks cool" that's the sentence that gets you started down the 40k rabbit hole. And when you reach the bottom of it all, when you've seen and understand all there is to know about the lore, the tabletop and everything else, you will find a simple sentence that explains it all: "It looks cool".
Eh, probably heard this a lot, but if you want animated explanations beyond single videos, Bruva Alafabusa's 'If The Emperor Had A Text to Speech Device' is a great series for an introduction to 40k, great at explaining the lore and factions in an entertaining way. If you just want pure lore dumps, plenty of channels for that but Bricky has some long-form videos for the factions and another video specfifcally for the Space Marine Legions.
The only downside of Bruva Alafabusa is that there is a bit of jokes and memes put in which anyone who knows the basic would get as a meme, but if you are going in not knowing anything you might take it as a fact.
@@Karak-_- People taking Jokes about the Lore as serious Lore is a problem because it causes confusion. Emperors TTSD is still an amazing series though.
@@Karak-_- Anyone who was around for the Failbaddon fiascos ~10 years ago would not be saying that. The 40k fandom had a real issue with memes being taken as serious lore and people going nuts when a piece of lore comes out that disproves it.
I recommend “If The Emperor Had A Text-To-Speech Device” or TTS for short. Is a really good parodic comedy that is also surprisingly true to the lore and can be used to learn about the 40K universe though in a manner like an abridged series. Unfortunately, it’s canceled due to GW’s current politics regarding fan animations though it’s still available in RU-vid. And it’s got hours upon hours of hilarious, dramatic, memetic and even dramatic content, including podcasts and a spin-off. So, go ahead!
I recommend anything by 'The Remembrancer' on YT. It's a nice 20-45min look into characters or factions without a lot of humour and fluff. Great for raw, unadulterated lore. If 'deep dives' are more your thing, The Amber King does deep dives into characters that span anywhere from 1-4 hours and uses a lot of book excerpts. Lastly, Lutein is a more human look at factions and events, albeit sometimes a bit biased.
Hey this is pretty cool to see. I'd love to see more of you delving into the depths that is warhammer 40k lore. Judging from what you said in the video I think you'll love what you find in there.
