Yeah the Skaven were responsible for Nagash’s first death as the Lich King. Nagash had built his fortress atop Cripple Peak, which was a massive Resevoir of Warpstone, and it drew the Skavens attention as they fought for 100 years to take the fortress and didn’t get very far given the enemy is undead and can just endlessly ressurect. Spies from Clan Eshin found out that Nagash had recently acquired a single prisoner in his fortress - The Nehekharan King Alcadizzar - and that Nagash himself was now dormant after completing a massive ritual that raised a continent sized army of undead that was now marching south to Cripple Peak. The Skaven decided they needed to kill Nagash now as surely the Skaven would be next after the vast army of undead wiped out the surface world, so they had a weapon made, forged of pure Warpstone, it’s blade soaked in the vilest of poisons, inlaid with spells of doom that to merely read them was to instantly kill you…even though just merely wielding the sword would garuntee your death on how dangerous it was. A device was fitted to the pommel so the Lords Of Decay could channel power to the wielder, which was Alcadizzar as the Skaven broke him out of prison and left the sword in his cell. Alcadizzar made his way to Nagash’s throne room where the Lich King narrowly deflected a strike from the sword as he roused himself out of his dormancy. He fired a bolt of eldritch power at Alcadizzar, who blocked it, with 2 of the Lords Of Decay dying on the spot protecting thier pawn. Alcadizzar chopped Nagash to pieces and then dropped the blade as he wandered off, rambling incoherently as the Skaven retrieved the sword and destroyed all the pieces of Nagash save for one of his hands. Years later, Nagash would return and single handedly take back his fortress and annihilate the Skaven clan who now dwelt in it. Due to him being considerably weaker than he was before however, and that most of the Warpstone had now been mined from Cripple Peak, the Skaven decided to leave Nagash alone.

When Norsca raided nehekhara, a chieftain of norsca stole settra's crown and in a move that surprised no one settra marched the deathless legions to the frozen north to reclaim what was rightfully his. Nowhere is out of reach for settra as he does not serve!

The only people who could do away with Settra is the writers.

Honestly, when I first read about the Age of Sigmar setting in the core book... I liked it. Then I started learning more about the Old World and how it actually felt more like a breathing fantasy setting. My friend was a huge fan of the Brettonians and I find myself liking a bunch of the Old World factions myself.

This is also why some proportion of fans remain highly skeptical of GW suddenly deciding the 40K timeline is now allowed to advance after twenty years of effective stasis. At any moment they could decide they're bored, kill the setting, and decide to start over with a replacement. On a similar note, there's no small amount of irony that the end of the setting came about right around the time Total War Warhammer came out and drove a massive spike in interest. Seems a bit like shooting the horse before you load your wagon and take the crops to market, imo.

You have to watch his end times video. The End Times was basically GW killing the fantasy setting. As they didn't know what to do with it so they decided to kill the world and every character in the End Times scenario, where chaos led by Archeon invaded the Old World for the final time and destroyed it. The end. So yeah, that's why there hasn't been any new lore for fantasy, it's because GW literally decided to kill it off and replace it with the Age of Sigmar.

What i really love about the tomb kings over other undead factions like the Vampire counts is that all of their soldiers still pretty much have all their memories, emotions and personalities intact. Theyre all pretty much just regular dudes discount being mostly walking skeletons now. Unlike the Vampire counts where most of their armies are just literal mindless walking corpses having their strings pulled by a Necromancer or Vampire lord. It gives us kind if a window for us to empathize with the Tomb Kings compared to the Vampire Counts.

You really ought to watch the video on Nagash. He’s a very important character in the lore and a driving force in the end times. Him and Archaon are probably the most important ones in fact.

Yup, after EoT GW sacked the Tomb Kings. Why? Well... lore wise I guess it is because now Nagash rules over all undeads with his faithful mortarchs as underlings and he was too pissed with Settra to even try to bring him back (again, I'm just guessing here). On the Tabletop front however... I guess it's because the vast majority of the miniature range was either too old (some molds were DECADES old and, quite frankly, rather goofy) or too generic... after EoT GW debuted Age of Sigmar, in which most factions got a visual upgrade so people couldn't go and buy minis from less expensive producer to prox their units: -wood elves pretty much lost the elves part and went full on dryad and treeman (something I really loved but... yeah) -Empire, Bretonnia and so on became the Stormcast Eternals (basically Space Marines made of living lightning wearing golden armor) -the orks became steroid addicts And the Tomb Kings... disappeared... until years later GW introduced the Ossiarch Bonereapers to kinda "fill the spot"... still not TK (loyal to Nagash) but they are the new "army of skeletons"... except the skeletons are more like humans made of bones... and not in the "well, duh" sort of way, in the "they look like their skin and muscles are now made of bones too" sort of way. Honestly they kinda look like if humans wore full body suits made of tyranid exoskeleton. Cool, but not really the same.

Yeah they axed the tomb kings, they axed the entire fantasy setting, and their greatest crime... THEY AXED WURRZAG!

Settra did get violated in the end times which is sad but he did put up a great fight and he did not accept the chaos gods deal😢

Nehekharan magic apparently relied mostly on the gods to channel it, hence the priesthood was incredibly important, even the mortuary cults practices and rituals were divine magic, when Nagash mixed the nehekharan rites with Dhar (dark magic), as well as Shyish, the amethyst wind of Death he created his necromantic magic. the difference between Nagashes magic and that of the mortuary cult that is used to create undead shows clearly how different the two are, nehekharan skeletons are infused with the spirits of their warriors (who swore to serve their kings both in life and death), while skeletons of the vampire counts or necromancers are resurrected as unwilling puppets.

12:35 As usual, you are right. In fact, Tomb kings are one of two race (other is Vampire coast) in which you cannot integrate other playable characters to your faction. You can however make them your vassals.

Warhammer Fantasy has existed for like 40 years, and has had 8 editions, each with rewrites of different parts of the lore. So it gets a bit complicated at times when some parts are not updated to match the new bits. Also The End Times is the world ending event that was always coming, Warhammer is a 5-minutes-to-midnight setting, the world is simply going to end. How they handled it though was terrible. It got covered over a series of books written by authors who knew little of the setting and/or were 40K writers. So weird stuff happened, powers that did not make any sense, character acting like themselves, making weird decisions, story threads that didn't go anywhere. And the entire series was focussed on like 30% of the world, the atory begins with saying the other 70% get killwd by Skaven or Greenskins off-screen. So yeah a ton of people hate the end times.

12:38 funny you should mention that. In Total Warhammer Tomb Kings specifically are not allowed to confederate (integrate) other Tomb King factions so your only way of getting their land is to conquer them all.

I mean i love the idea of the End Times, it's very fitting to warhammer that there is no good ending, everyone dies and the world falls. That being said, GW's execution was less than stellar, being a almost impromptu decision, There was alot of plot threads from all the major characters within the setting that either got rushed through or never continued. And while Age of Sigmar never had a tomb king or tomb king like analog. The first boxsets for The Old World dropped at the start of the week and one of them is a Tomb King army.

I feel like pancreasnowork's videos can be fun but are bad for informational value a lot of the time. He really talks up characters and factions he likes and does the opposite for ones he doesn't. As in, straight up ignores written lore that doesn't fit his interpretation. Which is fine, after all what's "canon" or not in Warhammer is always a bit difficult to define, but it's worth making a mental note of when you watch his stuff.

25:20 the current equivalent to tomb kings are Ossiah bonereapers. Their lore is significantly different but from the design point they are similar with undead army wielding complex constructs. They are actually pretty cool. They are often referred to as walking mass graves since their bodies and souls are patchwork of best warrior trates of dozens dead

I will say diving into Age of Sigmar, it’s not as bad as it’s made out to be. However, it definitely has a lot to make up for in comparison to Old World and 40k’s influence on it isn’t ignorable. Definitely give it a shot but be prepared to miss many things from the old world

The only way to unite all the Tomb kings is to Conquer them all as Settra!~ You got Arkan the Black to the West and hes the biggest Nagash Simp so Axe him First and while you got High Queen Khalida to the East shes not exactly good friends with the rest of the Tomb Kings, ITS POSSIBLE to get her on your side and Confederate but its extremely hard to do so, So Throw money at her to butter her up and Kahtep is on the complete A** end of the World in Nagaroth in a Knife fight with the Dark Elves so unless you send a Hero out to talk to em you'll probably never encounter him in your playthrough even if he surivived long enough. Plus as Settra you got all kinds of other problems to deal with, to your South you got Manfred "Everything is his fault" Carstine and should be killed on sight, You also got Tiq Taq and Krokgar as well and Lizards werent the biggest fans of bone bois. Also to your West is Vulkmar and Rapanse and they have a massive hate boner for anything Skelly like so best to axe them off ASAP, To your East outside the High queen ya also got Imirk and his Dragons lounging around And Directly North you got Scarrbrand, Queek, and Wurzag to deal with as well. Can ya Tell that Nehekara became Lustria Battle Royal 2 Electric Boogaloo. It may seem intimidating but this is Settra and hes Peak Awesome he can take em all on Heck managed to make all of "Not Africa" all Settras by Turn 70

the end times is basically a speedrun in how to ruin your established lore, do not recommend it at all

Age of sigmar is such a fucking disaster. It should've been it's own separate thing instead of blowing up fantasy. Lizardmen are in age of Sigmar but i shit you not they're made out of star energy so they're basically immortal like daemons. My biggest gripe with age of Sigmar besides nearly no interesting new characters and the reusing of many old fantasy characters is how painfully wack the armies are Free Cities of Sigmar i shit you not are: dwarves, high elves, dark elves, wood elves and empire merged into a single faction. Vampire counts had their entire army broken down into like 3-4 sub factions. Ogres were split in two factions because.....its age of Sigmar. And the unique factions like lumineth (high elves but use light magic) or the ossiarch bonelords (not tomb kings which is wack) just aren't prominent enough. For christ sake they made an entire faction based solely around the female dark elves which i don't mind but its just annoying how chomped down everything is. If they made AoS it's own thing to begin with with completely new armies, lore, characters it would've been amazing. But instead GW has to artificially pad how many factions you play by chopping down existing fantasy races into pieces. Also the constant reuse of fantasy characters instead of making an interesting original character is annoying. For example, the strongest stormcast that is Sigmar second in command of all his armies is Karl Franz. Or how Alarielle becomes the goddess of life and nature. Or even how the lumineth have a magical energy being in a suit of armor that's eltharion. And they don't even bring in some of the best characters like Grimgor, Settra, Thanquol, Malus, etc And my last bit of rant. The outright removal of certain races completely. No breronnia. No tomb kings. No kislev. No Cathay. No chaos dwarves. No norsca. Edit: To clarify i do love the daughters of khaine but why the fuck did GW completely removed the witch elves from the entire dark elf race????

Age of Sigmar is basically warhammer fantasy 2 and honestly, i'm not a fan. Mostly because they kill off everyone in the end times and give us some magical loopyland as compensation with some goofy lore on how it got to this point. Plus i don't think any of the characters in AoS are as interesting as the characters in fantasy. Also fantasy is the one who got a total war game and not aos, i wonder why. I'm not very hopeful about The Old World either, cause i know they're gonna rewrite established cool asf lore or just toss it aside as non canon. I wouldn't trust GW with keeping things as they were as they show favoritism, lazyness and disrespect to both their own properties and online creators, so yeah... there's a good reason i still swear by good 'ole fantasy and will continue to do so
