Great comment about if you can’t get the parts out of the box, you’re not going to be able to tig weld. Good video. I have a 220 but haven’t used it for tig because I have another tig machine. However, it was nice to see the setup
dammit, I really appricate how you explained everything. I have watched a lot of videos but you explained a lot more, a lot better. Now secondly, how do I get this freakin welder out of the box, I really don't wanna have to cut the box.l lol'...
Ian my brother. Don't change a thing. You present your vids in more detail than most and that is appreciated. It reminds me of Mustie1. Your channel may grow slower than most but the following you get will stay with you. Best of luck man and thanks for the help on the harbor freight hvlp gun. Take care.
The ADAPTOR! I was wondering why I wasn’t getting gas… and why the TIG port would not fit. I ground the slot fitting down to make it turn (likely not a great idea). It “worked”, but not well. I’ll have to look for the adaptor and hope it goes better the second time. Thank you.
I have this same welder and i did the exact same thing lol😂! No gas was coming out even though it was hooked up to the gas port on the welder . I’ll just hook it straight to the tank next time .
I knew I liked this Guy, when He said that He was not going to show how to open the package the consumables come in.p, and if you needed instructions on opening you could never weld, anyway.😎🔥🔥
Thank you, Iain, today my MIG cylinder went out of gas (on a Sunday like always) and thats when I decided to test my and my Vulcan 215 capabilities of TIG welding. Your vid was extremely helpful and led me around all obstacles I stumbled about when setting my machine up with the user instruction only. Highly appreciate your work.
You know, the price on the '220 has gone up enough that by the time you get the HF brand torch kit and pedal, you could take the same money and get an Everlast PowerMTS 211si multiprocess MIG/TIG/Stick welder that has lift start, HF start, a built in gas solenoid valve, pedal, torch kit, better duty cycle and a 5 year warranty.
Doug Elick yeah, HF seems to be razing the prices on a lot of things lately to where it makes sense to buy a better brand for not much more, sometimes less, money. I’m afraid they are forgetting why people shop there, take their new grinders for example, if I wanted to pay DeWalt prices I would buy a DeWalt that has a proven track record, a 3 year warranty, and a network of service centers nation wide. If I was to buy this again at the current price I would go with the Everlast.
50 amps 332 filler and tungsten it doesnt pool well at all wtf is wrong with mine.... torch in neg 100percent argon... 14 in tungsten stickout... doesnt pool hardly at all
Appreciate the video! I don’t believe mine is working right, mine tries to start an arc with no pressure to the pedal, I’m checking all the boxes off but I cant seem to figure out why its doing that or if I’m doing something wrong. Im contaminating my tungsten every time and I’m getting a little annoyed :( I certainly cannot do what he did in the video where he just drug the tungsten around with no arc, if I put my tungsten down *without* the pedal pressed it starts to glow hot. The machine says “tig with pedal”, all cables correctly hooked up, proper gas and flow..just can’t figure it out and I really don’t want to have to return it :(
I’ve had my eye on some of these Vulcan welders and with a harbor freight coming to town in the next couple months I might have to pick one up and make some videos with it. I’ve just been doing stick and tig with my Lincoln ranger225 bit a plug in the wall machine would be fun to mess around with
It's videos like yours that teach welders-wanna-be such as myself to get a solid start up. Lucky me I know how to unbox things 😂 Liked & subscribed. Thanks.
Very Helpful Video, Had me cracking up laughing more than once. Comments regarding the TIG attachment hooking into the adapter was very helpful. Thanks for the video.
Very good video. I have been welding for 25 yrs MIG and Stick. I decided to switch over to TIG with my Omni 220 and this was very informative. I am looking forward to learning this new process for me. My brother convinced me and said I would have less if any slag.
Thanks Lain, I have the 220 and been teaching myself MIG for the last yr n now trying my (shaky) hand at TIG. 1st question is why I can't seem to dial on anything thicker than 10ga. OR get my machine to show my material sizes in fractions... Watched you video and others and can't see what I'm missing, is it cause I'm on 110V still? Thx in advance, clearly explained stuff too
I burnt up one of my tungsten rods cause i hooked up the hose to the front of the welder and not straight to the tank ! 😂😂😂😂 i was like “man tig welding sucks ass”! 😂😂. There was no gas coming out of the tig handle 😂. I was trying to form a puddle and it was sparking and doing a crazy arc ! But now i know to hook it up to my 100% argon tank and I’ll be good !! I’m so glad i watched this video thank you for showing me ! Man that’s a beautiful arc ! My arc would not stay lit just sticking to the material lol .
It’s a multiprocess welder but doesn’t have a gas solenoid or AC for TIG, then it’s a MIG welder that you can plug stick in…. it’s no coincidence that it looks like a Multimatic 220 but isn’t even close….
I just bought an Omnipro 220 today and all it does when I turn it on is run the fan and show the startup screen, that's it. I can't get it to do anything. It's stuck running the fan and the startup screen.....
Ok the lack of solinoid for Tig function just helped me select the welder I'm planning to get. I already have a Miller Trailblazer that doesn't have those features either I was hoping to buy a multi process welder so I could sell my Clark Mig welder.
Why did the video suddenly stop? You said you were going to tell us what you thought of the unit's TIG welding. I have this welder, but I have not used it for TIG because I have another TIG machine.
Very comprehensive video. I am starting my TIG journey today with the same welder (very happy with it BTW) and your video was exactly what I needed. Would like to have seen some of the welds for reference but all in all an excellent video. Thank you very much
Yes it could with the spool gun but I wouldn’t do it. The heat form welding softens aluminum around the weld and depending on the alloy the wheel can loose a lot of strength.
I am brand new to welding. Can you video Omni Pro220 MIG set up? I've been looking around, and apparently there isn't one. You could sure fill a big hole out there!
That is a good question and I don’t know off hand because I don’t like torch mounted switches so I’ve never looked into it. I’ve used it without the pedal and it works fine, you just have to snap out of the puddle at the end.
407ForRent I would but there are two things holding me back. 1) I can’t afford to buy a $1k welder right now and 2) I have 11 welders as it is so I don’t plan on getting any more... sorry.
Michael R. Head no, without it you just set the amperage on the machine and go for it. The downside is you can’t vary the amperage on the fly like you can with the pedal but you can always add the pedal later.
@@iainportalupi sweet thanks for the info. One more question. On the gas regulator how much flow do I set it at? I have it around 20 right now but I have no idea if that's right or not
Thank you very much. I have this exact setup - got the HF torch and pedal; didn't want to disconnect all the mig connections - but could not get an arc. This was my first tig attempt (ever), so I didn't even know how to troubleshoot beyond checking connections and ground. It was the stupid "output" setting in the auto-settings.
@@iainportalupi it’s weird that there’s another setting for welding aluminum, and, you can use a spool gun and not a tig torch. Would you still weld aluminum in this same Tig setting you had setup?
