In Vuoggatjålme, spot on the Arctic circle and known for being the coldest place in Sweden, the heart-warming family Helamb, have greeted visitors for 100 years. And it all started with a move by foot, over some rugged mountains in Swedish Lapland.
Today Vuoggatjålme is a homestead in the mountains in the Arctic, in Arjeplog. This have been the home of the Helamb family for a centary and a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
For decades the renowned hospitality in Vuoggatjålme was personified by the charismatic Mimmi Helamb, mom to legendary helicopter pilot Björn Helamb. Although growing up in the remote Swedish mountains Mimmi led a captivating life and during the afterburn of the Second World War her contributions, as an allied agent, even got acknowledged by today's CIA.
Vuoggatjålme sure holds a lot of fascinating stories. Like being roadless until the late 1960’s and the official record holder as the coldest place in Sweden. Today a new generation, Frans Helamb and Tina Viklund have moved in and are running Vuoggatjålme.
Besides stunning scenery and easy access to nature, Vuoggatjålme is known for their excellent restaurant. Making this a perfect place to combine astonishing nature experiences and the luxury of a good meal.
People like to visit Vouggatjålme for the great fishing and hiking and hunting or exploring the mountains with snowmobiles in winter.
