I still don't appreciate what we have in our own country, over the next year I will show the best bits of Britain in my camper while also stretching a bit further a field to give some highlights of the most beautiful parts of Europe. Everyone loves a eurotrip!
I have started a van conversion so that me and my girlfriend can travel around the UK, Europe and maybe even maybe further afield. Living in a van can be so much fun and if you want to have as much fun as us then follow my how to videos and travel vlogs to living the vanlife.
Please like share and subscribe as this will be a series of videos showing the full transformation, use and enjoyment of my campervan conversion!
For more info about what I am up to subscribe to my channel! Get on board with my VanLogs and keep up to date with all my progress.

I found using IKEA bed slats worked a treat for me for the slats...cheap and have a slight arch to them offering smaller gaps between slats..also the moving slats don't need to go back fully over the rear frame..saving a lot of worry about friction etc...enjoyed the vid..

"THUMBS UP!!" I had this kind of bed in an old 72 class A RV... I loved it, because during the day, it is a couch and I could easily pull it out to a bed at night... Thank you for sharing this is great video/tutorial.

I made my first slat pull out bed! Worked first time making it, no adjustments needed. All i had to do was put washers under the fixed side and make the sliding side legs a bit shorter. Mine also folds up on hinges to completely eliminate the bed so i can still use it for moving stuff around.

Oh my dog! You are so right about the frustration of slats not sliding fully closed due to squared off ends. My slat bed was already installed in my convertion, but no rounding off done at all. Also, despite new wood being used, the slats have still been placed a touch too close to each other. A whole lot of sanding and candle waxing will be going on in mine shortly 😀🚐

The answer with that type of bed is so simple you'll kick yourself. Each slat should cover it's own square only, without any overhang. When closed the slats should look staggered. Look at the situation again and it is the overhangs that cause friction or catch. Hope if that's to late to help you, it will help others.

I want to build a bed exactly like this for my travel trailer... it’s only 14 feet so needs space saving ideas. Thought about using locking casters for easy roll over my new floor. I’ve looked at the locking caster so it stays in place when it’s pushed in or out. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts? I have very little experience but I make up for it in determination. 👍🏻
@HughTube
@HughTube 6 лет назад
Hey Janice you may be surprised but castors are an unnecessary addition as providing you take your time with the bed it should slide in and out very easily. Although one advantage about locking castors is that when the bed is folded away it should prevent the bed sliding out while driving.
@team3383
@team3383 5 лет назад
@@HughTube Put a block/chock on the floor to stop the bed without castors from sliding out. Or a simple peg in the floor, or; easier, just a velcro strip around the legs to stop the one that slides out from .... you guessed.
