With those best to buy water pump, thermostat and housing all at the same time, making your job easier, and no comebacks. Yes you can just buy the front, and if you have a rear housing it is easy enough to change, but often those 6 M6 bolts on the front are well seized, and snap off in the housing as you try to remove them. Where are you buying your water pumps from? And yes those little dipstick ends are very easy to break, along with the dipstick itself. But super cheap to buy as aftermarket.

Next job is the tappet cover, replace the rock hard gasket, tap the dished out bolt holes flat, and put the aftermarket PCV adaptor in place. The silicone orange one works better than the black plastic one.

Hey I was wondering what is the size of the o ring that is between the water pump housing and the engine block, because I bought only the pump without the housing and it came with only the gasket between the pump and the housing I am also gonna replace the thermostat so the whole assemble is coming of the thermostat came with its ouw o ring they are 2 in fact and a paper gasket 1 of the 2 is a normal o ring and the other is thicker and has a groove on the inside of it so I'm wondering what is the size of the o ring between the housing and block thanks man, sorry for the long explanation, not really good at it 😅

Hi, seriously love the videos i could watch them for hours on end, super entertaining because I've loved cars since i was a little boy and they're very helpful since want to become a mechanic, anyways, I have a 1988 VW Fox 1.4 and i want to be sure my car and a VW Golf 1.4 is mechanically the same so i don't buy the wrong parts or do the wrong things, i have a 2 main things to replace and my uncle that flips golfs, caddys, jettas etc for a living said he would help me. I'm mainly focused on the water pump. I'm learning to drive and that's difficult to learn with a car constantly overheating + im planning on keeping this car forever because of sentimental value and want to make sure she is functioning perfectly, where can i buy parts like water pumps, exhausts, brake discs, calipers pads and ofcourse the essentials like coolant, air filters and oil filters?

Hi. I have a golf mk1 1.4i. And it has a constant whinning noise that sounds like its coming from one of the belts, I have replaced the cam belt and still the noise is there when I rev the car. Do you think it might be the water pump thats giving off the whinning noise?? Great content, keep up the good work!
