Instead of paying $300 for VW to do this I ordered a Mk7 golf switch online which cost me $30. Even though my car is right hand drive I followed this video and the whole job took me 20 min! Thanks for the upload!
Yes, paid $47 on Amazon for the switch, took just over 30 minutes. Same frustrations figuring out 5 different connectors, but great instructions and ready to roll--and roll down!
i watched the video and others for Jetta & MK6. I had the same thought as Adam, why not take it out from the top? I now know why after fiddling with trim tools, screw drivers, micro pics, etc. for about an hour. Take the door off like GW recommends, it's a 10 minute job & will save you a ton of grief. Thanks GW, well done!
Tried to lever it out first, pretty hard, did the process in this video, also kinda tricky to pull the panel off, but did it, saw the underside, realised that levering it over was probably not going to work. Anyway, did it. Panel has some scratches now but not easy to see ;) Thanks!
Attention!!! I had problems getting the switch out. I had not only to push back the 2 big front clips, no, also the side ones (4x). And 2 of the side ones (towards the driver) are hard to get to. Be careful!!
Pretty easy to follow along. All I can add is that a good set of spudging tools is worth having, as it helps you apply pressure to release the door panels.
Hi, I need your help on something similar. the window from drivers door, sometimes doesn t not go down, but few minutes pass, it works right. what can it be?? the swicth is ok?? can you help me?
Why did you have to replace this? I wonder if my switch is broken somehow because my - 17 golf driver side door window will open if I keep button pressed down but not automatically when you press it once. All the other windows does work automatically.
It may just need calibration. Press the button for direction of travel, then keep holding it for about 5seconds after its finished. Should be auto next time you try
Kingly Misfit just used this whole procedure to replace the master switches in my ‘17 Sportwagen. After doing it, I’m pretty positive it can’t just be levered out. The clips on the inside have to be depressed big time to get the switch trim out. I just don’t think it could be done from the outside. Honestly though it really wasn’t that big of a deal - just looks scary. Hope that helps.
@@Stylefront VW are notorious for rattles...wait till your bumper to bumper warranty is out then start watching videos how to pull panels and such apart to reduce vibration.
I was just questioning why he took the door card off, thought I was the idiot for a second, a 2 quid trim tool saves the arse ache of everything he's just done.
