Did you then have to change out the door actuator or did it fix it by doing this? I went to look at buying an 05 polo 4dr and it had a stuck rear door.
My 2018 caddy couldn't open earlier on. It's sliding door-can't open inside and outside. After I was watching this video, I fixed by myself. Thank you so much 👍👍 u are d life saver.
Thanks very much mate. Pretty much as the comment below. Mk5, 08 golf worked first time. Driver's door, saved a right nightmare. As the door would not open.
so many thanks for the video! I only pushed the locking button on drivers door and so my right backdoor was working again. Last 2 years i changed after and after all the locks at the doors. Now only one is left, the right back door. And your video was very helpful to avoid to do the works by closed door.Thank you so much again! kind Regards from Germany!
@@eddyfinkful unfortunately if you can't get the door open you can't remove the outer door skin ad there are lots of torx bolts holding it on If the wiring is broken it will be in the hinged area that's the normal place for breakage
Yea, as long as it’s unlocked already, I just give the doors a thump on the door handle itself where the key goes in for the fronts, that makes the latch in behind reset better because there’s a spring inside that rubs against it. If you open it up, put a bit of grease behind the spring. There’s 2 springs, not the one that makes your door handle go back, it’s the other useless one. You can just take it all together, then door will work fine
Worked on my 2004 VW Golf MK5 1.9TDI Eng BKC driver side door which had jammed shut while closed. I gained access via the passenger door. Wound down the driver door window. After successfully using your procedure to unlock the door I closed it again to test. When I closed the car door again the problem re happened as expected. However, I discovered I did not need a second person and did not need to hit the door to unlock it again this time. I needed to just lower the window and then simultaneously self-press the door unlock button while at same time repeatedly cycle pulling the door handle to open. Eventually after a about 5 pulls the door opened in my case. Ultimately to fix the problem properly when one has more time it would be wise to investigate the locking mechanism further. In my opinion its normally a mechanical issue , not wiring. In my case a few weeks back I had replaced the door's broken wiring loom so perhaps something in the door lock mechanism needs a little adjusting / oiling / greasing etc. Thank you so much for saving me a big complicated looking door disassembly and anxious hours effort wondering if I could get the door open.
I'm glad I could help on a mk 5 you have to take the whole door skin off and you need the door open to remove lthe lock its a vw thing across the range the motor in the lock just gets stuck that said whatever way it worked so I'm happy as you are 👍thanks for the message
Thanks, I will try it. Actually the door has been stuck for ages. I took it to an auto car wash, the rotating brushes hitting the car must have had the same effect of what you have shown. I tried the door and it it was open! didn't last long though. Stuck again.
It will happen every time you lock your car so if you have a mk 5 golf you will have to have the door open to change the locking mechanism as you have to take the outer door panel off to replace it good luck 😁
many thanks! Current, my 16 yrs old A4 have two rear doors & hatch, not opening. Just been food shopping & fed the bags through rear windows! Will give that a try. Might it work, on Hatch, too? Can only try it!
Hi thanks for video it worked ! I have a Audi A4 b8 2008 model . Could open from inside but not outside. I didn't need to use the button just simply banged on door and handle and it's now fine. Think it's due to cold weather. Can I spray anywhere with WD-40 or is it simply the door actuator faulty? No error codes shown on carista OBD reader either . Again thanks very much !
Hi Mike I'm glad it worked to be fair I think vw used the same door locks across the vw range and sadly no there is nowhere to spray it will only get worse to the point that the door won't open at all hence the video however I would get some advice on whether it needs replacing or can be fixed 👍
Hey:) My Mk5 GTI door is also stuck and, as lucky as I am, I only have the 2 door version so my passenger always has to climb across the center console or just sit in the back. I will try to open it like that, hopefully I can repair it then... Thanks for the trick
Just a quick update: I tried it today and it worked after 2 minutes. Thank you so much for this video! You saved me some €, but primarily lots of trouble. Cheers!
This trick worked for me and the same door as yours aswell. But this is just a temporary fix. What did you have to do fix it permanently? How did you sort yours?
Unfortunately you have to change the door lock from vw there about £200 or you can try a scrap place and get a second had one a lot cheaper but you roll the dice as such and dont forget you have to take the outer door skin off to replace it good luck 😁
Hey you have to go to vw give them 200£ if your in the uk for a new door lock then watch other RU-vid videos to take the door apart and replace the locking mechanism after all that all done good luck 👍
Hey man my dad forget his keys in the car and the car has locked if we try this method for unlocking the rear door is it going to work to get in the car
Sorry not for a seat I know its part of the vw range however I'm guessing they may have changed the locking mechanism All I can say is a pain but your gonna have to take door card off good luck
All I can say is give it a go it won't hurt . And as said in video the door motor sticks/falls and does need replacing itself mk6 golf is the only car where you can remove the outer door skin so the door needs to be open to fix the problem I hope that answers your question 😁
Hi it will only stick again if you lock the car you will have to change the door motor/lock brand new from vw in the uk is £200 and the outer door skin has to come off to do this I hope that helps 😁
You can but that depends on how much you know about cars . You can get a second hand door motor but you take your chance with that or vw want around £ 200 for a new lock good luck
