It’s evident vw that spent the absolute minimum it thought it could get away with to continue the id3 until the next gen electric golf is developed. Id4/5 is better seller. They’re not going to put in lots to refresh. Also there is the cupra born so in effect another slightly different version that is very similar. Let’s see next year what it’s like with the new computer ..
Love your reviews and production quality keeps getting better. For the sake of transparency I'd suggest to add an overlay/disclamer if the vehicle has been provided by manufacturer. That is considered a sponsored content by RU-vid and should be marked as such.
My id3 (on 3.2) had an update the other day - when it finished it went straight to a screen offering me extras I could trial, or pay for monthly or outright - Like main beam assist (£4 per month, £40 for the year or £156 to buy outright as I recall) - there were other things too like the colours for interior lights. Some additional games - I dont remember the rest but anyway you get the idea. I noticed as well that the id3 App on my phone would not run without me accepting a new agreement - once accepted (reluctantly because it looked like I was committing to stuff) the icon changed to Volkswagen and no mention of id3 on the app image.
@@BatteryLife because I prefer an all wheel drive car like you as well, but I don’t want to sacrifice the quality, if the EX30 and the Explorer lack it, I will buy ID.3 finally.
Tesla and a few other car makers allow this. But at least VW was good enough to install a USB port on the rear view mirror so you can easily plug in your own. No need for complex cable routing. Now if we can just get them to put one on the back. Like I've maintained from day one, you can never have too many USB ports.
Has VW told you when the ID7 software system will be put into production vehicles? I wonder if that software will be able to be retrofitted into all ID cars already produced.
Really curious to know why Vw in Ireland has not got the internet radio anymore. My 12 year old car has it and my sone who has id5 also has it. I see leased id3 cars also have it. On the continent and in Uk is this tali’s the case that FM and DAB only available and funnily there is no DAB transmission in Ireland. Ml.
the changes do not go far enough, the larger screen is NOT available with RHD models even as an option, (another attack on british) we will still have the same software, the same hardware and the same issues as the existing id3 mk1, RHD models still have only half a glovebox, we have no white trim option , the central display screen buttons are still not back lit, and still no lighter trim like the golf style, vw this car needs a lighter roof option, even with the changes RHD models are better off with the DS el borne as that model has the id3 mk1.5 center display, and still no one peddle or variable paddel regen
Please clarify the VW system for trim level, power and battery pack size. For example, pro (professional 🤔) implies a business trim; S (sport 🤔) implies a powerful motor; neither indicates a battery pack size 😱.
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense tbh, the home battery system would be totally seperate from the VW charger / inverter. (I'm guessing the Wall charger doubles as an inverter to convert the DC back to AC).
I would buy the Pro S with the 77 kWh battery if it had three seats in the back, because once my sister visited us and we unecpectedly had to fit 5 people in our Kona plus a medium sized dog. It's already a fun memory. Would it be as fun telling someone to please take the bus? I think not.
It’s a great car but thank the refresh is a little bit bit boring for me. Also my biggest concern is that the Id3 here in Ireland is depreciating too fast …
I'm glad they got away from the little hole in the lower bumper. They look so corny and cheap. My other dislike -- and this one is major -- are the seats with the integrated head rest. These are not sports cars, so again another gimmick. Anyway, I wish the backup/camera view utilized the full screen. As for the update, the photo is probably the easiest things to change. One more thing, seat belts for the dogs?
In the upper left corner of the digital cockpit, you can see the driving mode (Comfort, ECO etc) icon. You missed that. Is this on all cars with 3.5 software or just on the ID.3 facelift?
My ID.3 version 3.2 looses it's memory two or three times a day. Interior cabin light colours change and the air conditioning defaults to 23°C Did the 3.5 software behave? Thanks.
Check there are no outstanding dealer updates for the car, I believe there is one for that. My 6 month old ID3 has the same settings issue and I've got an update pending (its not an OTA update for some reason).
They wants to train your "muscle-memory" (cerebellum) to press brake for stopping. This so you instinctively is ready to press the brake should you suddenly be in a difficult traffic situation.
It's virtually 1 pedal, it slows right down to 3 mph and then you need to use the brake, imo it shouldn't be a deal breaker. But yeah, I agree, it would be nice if there was a setting to control this.
Are the improved delivery times only for Germany or will they be valid for other countries as well? My new ID3 (company car ordered via a leasing company in Belgium) got ordered last week and I got an estimated delivery date of april next year, quite a lot longer than I expected to be honest.
Wablief? i dont get why lease company stick to VW why better EV are on the market. And might be cheaper. Basic Model Y = 48000. And with Blade BYD batterie = charging speed is awsome. How much for the ID3?
Is the hardware quicker, the old system was so laggy. Took a while to respond to touch screen presses. Also have they added speakers in the back yet? Cheap ass company. First time i went German, never again. Going Korean next.
in my experience, its the best OEM sat nav I've used, but I still trust Google Maps more. The car one tells me to drive down a road I know I can't drive down (it's a bus route), plus I don't know if I can really trust the traffic info on it yet. I haven't used it in a while, perhaps I'll update it and give it another go. The main reason to use it is the AR directions in the HUD tbh. You do get directions in there with Google Maps via Android Auto, but not the AR direction arrows etc..
Apparently my new in February Enyaq iV 80 Sportline won't get any software updates from what has been installed - allegedly not compatible with the new software.. so already obsolete >:(
6:58 Why is the regenerative braking less? Afaik VW worked with some maximum "g" numbers (0.3?) which should give more power for a heavier car. Did you record (data logger) maximum regen power when braking from top speed?
Hello there, great video, i love how you go in depth! So does it mean we can have a 3.5 update on the 1st edition or older models and get V2l or V2g, and have you tested that function? Thanks so much for your answer!!
VW really need to up their game for both the app and for connectivity. It's all really clunky, unintuitive and frankly feels like something an eight year old knocked up whilst playing on his phone in class instead of paying attention to their teacher. Just employ some proper tech designers, coders and testers please VW. If you think that you have this sorted then whoever is in charge of software really isn't doing a great job. The user experience is truly abysmal.
do you know if the VW Bi directional charger is available to buy? My Tour Pro S has Bi directional charging but I cant find a home charger for sale that will allow it to work!
Why doesn’t Walter have v3.5? Is it already left behind by VW as legacy🧐 A 10 year old Tesla still get updates with new features. VW is really making a mess with their poor software development. The reason why i never should order a MEB car
The ID3 is getting better and better, I am looking forward the day will come when ID3 will have 1. LFP battery(no fire) 2. trailer hitch 3. 180 Km/h maximum of speed :-) 4. Price below 33 000 Euros :-)
Well, I wait for 4 buttons for window control, real buttons on steering wheel, roof rack support, and 800V architecture with 22 kW AC charging would be excellent. Possibly backlit volume control but this is not a big deal at all. And a SW that will not bother you to log in at every start of a car, why can't we use 20 years old approach with personalized key(s) :)
I wouldn't hold my breath. The price can only be so low and still make a profit. Either that, or you end up with a bare-bones injection molded plastic interior.
How is this better than Tesla? Tesla has better range, faster acceleration, more established software and charging networks. The only thing that's going for ID.3 is the price at the moment, but it changes once you spec it to a comparable to a Model 3 version.
