That's subjective, but the build quality on the VW is far better than those Tesla shit boxes. It would be nice if VW and others used Tesla's software under license.
Yeah except you gotta use their god awful charging network that’s always broken and very far and few in between. While tesla has a National charging network with over 50,000 charging stations that are always being improved and fixed. Tesla is the better option in my opinion with better range as well and is faster
Thank You for this. I live in Las Vegas and could do without the panoramic roof. I have been in the Tedla and my head is cooking for 3 months a year. It would be a local commuter, so the 245 range us sufficient
@@maxflight777 and model y has big storage space good range, minimalist interior, good frunk space, sportier felling on turns, big screen, key less entry,5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐crash test safety rating, built in dashcam(tesla cam),panoramin sunroof(extend all the way at the back),heated and cooled seats, hidden ac Bad thing is Not a bit comfy overbumps (cause of stiffer suspension) And a bit bad turning radius of 39.8ft,rear windows dont go all the way down,no heads up dislplay (like some other evs),and no grill on front means ots easy to catch bugs while driving.
Tesla too bubble from the outside but cant say either looks great from the exterior styling. I'd have to go with the ID4 based on exterior i guess. Also the ID.4 looks better on the inside. I've sat in both and actually I sat in the white dash model ID4 and it looked great
My 2023 ID.4 Pro S (RWD) says it gets 278 miles of range. but real world range I can get roughly 310 miles of range out of it. it a solid car for the price. I got it for $32,400.00 Compared to a model y which is roughly $50,000.00 (before tax credit) tho to be fair the VW ID. 4 that I have was $52,000.00 but I got $10,500.00 in federal tax credit (which came off the vehicles price) and $3,000.00 down payment. Insurance is $1,500.00 (full coverage) compared to a model y (Full coverage for me was $2,400.00+) and my VW has no software issues or bugs what's so ever. Charging is also super easy, you can plug it in to almost any EV Supercharger (I got 3 years of free supercharging) over all, it's an amazing car.
Storage is a little bit bigger in the Model Y behind the seats although it's a different shape. But the back seat room in the Volkswagen is more practical it's a little bit wider and much more comfortable. There looks like it's also quieter and $20,000 less money. The Tesla has far better drivetrain technology, the miles he quoted are EPA and nobody actually gets that in a Tesla. Straight flat highway at speed the difference in range is not that significant. The Tesla charges faster peak, but the VW has a very nice charging curve also. Not really a significant difference from 1% to 80%. $7,000 tax credit still available, and VW throws in 3 years of unlimited charging on Electrify America. If you travel a lot that could be important. Also the Tesla rides a lot more firm that could be a plus or negative depending on your driving likes and dislikes.
nobody actually gets that in the ID.4 either, so as long as you understand what EPA Range means and the range for both is given with EPA range it's still rather valid to compare. The range difference is actually more significant, because Tesla is the king of highway efficiency, while the ID.4 has a worse drag coefficient, thus is even less efficient at higher speeds, which really is the only thing where range actually matters, because if I drive 40km a day and plug in at hight I couldn't care less if the car has 200 or 300 or 400 miles of range lol.
@@LunnarisLP I'll have to watch some other range videos. Pretty sure I had already seen them where they compared each. You can't just go by the EPA number you need to see what actual people are really getting and at what speed they're traveling. Tesla's never get what the EPA says. Because of the method Tesla chose to use. There are a couple or three different options for testing the EPA allows. The opposite example of this is the Porsche Taycan. It almost inevitably gets much more miles than the EPA range. Because Porsche shows the testing procedure that ends up producing the more conservative number. 200 mi when in reality most people are getting closer to 300. Range is most important on the highway as you say. But range on the long distance vacation you take once or twice per year should not be your primary deciding factor in the purchase of the vehicle. As you said 99% of the time you're charging at home. VW wins in the number of ways, mostly comfort and ease of entry and exit. Some people just don't like Tesla's, personally I hate their interiors. Choice of materials and fit and finish is not exactly spectacular for the price point. I also like the fact that VW offers three trims and some options. I don't want a giant panoramic glass roof over my head. I can get that in the VW. Tesla is sort of the apple of the car world they build it the way they think you should like it and if you don't that's just too bad. I would personally take the base model ID4 and maybe add the all wheel drive. $39k. $7k rebate, In 3 years of free electrify America charging. Don't get me wrong the VW is far from perfect.... It's biggest problem is that it's a VW. Not exactly known for reliability. I would probably wait for the Toyota Bz4X, or Subaru solara? Just a brand that I trust more
@@kens97sto171 VW is not that reliable when it comes to ICE cars but EV is just a different ball game since it just has battery. If you want the most reliable, get Nissan since they have been innthe EV game for a long time now. Toyota and Honda are just getting into EV and not sure if they would be problem free right off the bat. Nissan had some growing pains before it hit it with Nissan leaf. So Toyota and Hobda or Subaru are newbies
@@samjam6989 Agree with VW ICE not being reliable. Nissan has lots of issues with batteries. No active cooling. I guess I just trust Toyota more. They been in electrified vehicles for a long time.. hybrids have many of the same components. Time will tell who is mossy reliable.
I work at vw. Vw has a way better interior and better built quality and not built cheap like Tesla inside and out. VW safety rating 5/5 try having a 300+ guy stand on the doors not including hatch Tesla it would break, VW/Audi/Porsche it’s all built like tanks.
I have a model 3 and the only reason I have it is because of the supercharging network. Looking to get a Kia EV6 or a Hyundai Ioniq 5 next as they get close to 270miles + which makes most of the UK accessible with destination charging.
Tesla is like a setup, their sales never talk about shit on their cars until the day you take delivery. Crazy insurance rates, terriable vehicle build quality and customer service, plus $0.56/KWH rate for supercharging, bruh Why TF you still like your shitty tesla ?
Id.4 looks better The model Y is nice inside until you use it, then that white looks nasty. I’ll take a 30k savings over the Tesla any day and still have an equally great car. I don’t live in my car, I use it to get from A to B.
I’ve driven both. I was looking at an ID.4 initially but the dealer was playing games. I went to Tesla and drove a dual motor Model Y. I got it for 44k after Tax Incentive and discount. It’s basically the same price now as an ID.4.
Looks like a biased review. Tesla is better software wise but there is no comparison in terms of build quality. VW is way ahead. Also include purchase costs, repairs, maintenance, different trim levels.
Taking two different range estimate types and comparing them is a terrible oversight. The range difference won't be nearly this substantial, ask any model y owner.
What can you say. Tesla started off leading the electric game but VW have been building cars for DECADES… R&D, heritage and build quality should prevail!
ID4 does not rattle, squake or make annoying noises from somewhere hard to find like Tesla vehicles do. Tesla roof, should not be called panoramic because it is not. It is just big piece of glass that does not open and does not protect you from the heat of the sun light.. I boight Teska Model Y and I had to buy 3rd party fabnric shade to keep my head cool. It looks so cheap... NOT COOL.... not cool...Good Luck..
Repairability and durability would easily be VW ID.4 If you like to buy most reliable get Nissan Ariya since Nissan has been in the EV game as long as Tesla
So you have the pinnacle of features and software in tesla. Vs tmwgat was described by sandy munroe as the worst features of any ev, which is the Id series
