What do you think about a white steering wheel? I think it is a terrible idea. Because even if your hands are clean, they will sweat, and it might stain the steering wheel.
@@toyotaprius79 own a Mazda MX-5 Miata, very light car, it has solid doors...just saying...Prius is 3100-3200 pounds or so, BMW 330 is 3600-3700...MX-5 is around 2200 - 1000 pounds less than a Prius...yet it has solid feeling doors, its more than the sound of the door, safety, sound and vibration dampening, etc.
Leah is the life of this channel, please don't let her go. Love her calm demeanour and laugh. And yes please keep the door sound section - it's a quality indicator
100% agree on the door closing. In the darker days before Autogefuehl I first fell in love with my 2001 bmw 750il for the door closing sound/feel and the buttery smooth v-12 . Keep up the door closing sound/feel please, it is one of the intro highlights....along with the leah acceleration meter!
12:05 "You're already more than beautiful." No truer words have ever been spoken! She's always a delight in your videos, from her opinions to the infamous Leahmeter.

you're completely correct regarding door sound, first thing my wife noticed about our bmw...our old 2004 vw passat had it too...current MX-5 ND2 is good, heavy doors, family CX-50 is 'decent'....
I love that you always say that the steering wheel and seats should be animal free ! Keep doing what you are doing I am following you for more then 6 years !! Very good job ! Super professional !!
Great review...I have been waiting for these vehicles to arrive in the USA for 6 years now and am excited about their arrival. BTW, totally with you on the door closing sound. It's part of why when I first saw your videos, I thought...OK this guy gets the user experience. We have a Chevy Bolt EV, and when you close the hatch, it sounds like I am slamming a plastic lid on a plastic trash can. I always worry if I'm going to break the mechanism some day. These things matter, and also a solid door sound tells me the materials are solid. I have some solid materials that will help protect me from a side collision. So please keep giving us the door closing sounds!
A precise and thoughful evaluation of the Buzz. I've already got my reservation for the AWD long wheelbase version. It will do just fine here in Idaho. Can't wait. Thanks.
i was lucky enough to be one of the first people to drive it on public road and i must say how impressed i was with the quality of drive. it really felt like driving on butter. it feels like driving small id.3, not a whole buss. smooth, but snappy, very obedient. it also looks cool af.
A good door closing sound is VERY important!! It separates the difference between well-made vehicles from the low quality vehicles. It's the little things that are important and most drivers don't notice.
Door sound check is probably the most important 1st impression quality test for cars. Great job again Thomas and i agree with you, Lea is a princess. No need for mirrors :)
Even with the LWB, you're shorter than many estates/station wagons, so that wouldn't scare me away. It is a pity regarding the 2nd seat row being fixed though... could be nice to be able to remove them and/or turn them around (face to face) for a more limo-feeling for the passengers, or just eating together while camping. It also makes it sound like the rumoured "ID.Buzz California" is still far in the future. Multivan is still easier to customise. Otherwise I'm really in love with the Buzz, neat and compact, drives like a sedan and you still have more space than in an SUV.
This is by far the coolest car VW makes at the moment. Awesome! Glad to see some software updates and improvements to the interior quality. Can’t wait for physical buttons on the steering wheel to return!
Fantastic review as always guys. The door closing sound is an integral part of the review and tells the consumer so many things as you state. I recently had to put my VW Golf in for a minor repair and got a Toyota CHR as a courtesy car. A quick Autogefühl door closing test told me the car was of poor quality, this was backed up by scratchy plastics in the cabin.
The door closing feeling is very important. It's one of the things that separate European brands from the rest. It needs to feel heavy, tactile and precise, and the sound can not have any metal hollow ring to it. It needs to sound heavy and compact, like if it's stuffed with sound proofing material, which it probably is.
Is the short wheelbase version still missing the openable rear windows and air vents? Those are probably the main reasons I'm thinking of the LWB over SWB...
At ~13:44 I think you missed one feauture of the removable center console? It looks like there is a storage compartment in the bottom of the unit? (I gues a sliding one) Would be odd if they didnt utalize the whole thing. Also, 100%with you on the door closing sound, thats really important. Great review, good job! 😊👍
Mein gott you earned your wages reviewing this one Thomas, especially moving the rear seats😂 nice to hear you are in Hanover the home of the Scorpions🤘🤘🤘

A fascinating review, thank you. This Buzz shows VW at its current best. The design and engineering is wonderful with numerous practical design touches. It has been compromised by parts of the UI/UX which still depend on capacitive buttons and Cariad’s failed auto software. Maybe VW’s recent investment in Rivian will sort out the software but presumably with a long lead time - say 2027. But though I do not want to drive one of these things, I really applaud the thought that has gone into practicality and design. Greater than €60k? Maybe not.
Extra power from AWD will help if you regularly haul a full load of people and stuff, weight adds up quickly in a big vehicle like this (I own a 2002 Chevy Suburban with a 5.3L V8 and can feel the difference with 7 people and all our stuff on a road trip).
Since you always have your stick handy, some Isofix measurements would be handy! Either the distance between the inner isofix points. (Or outer to outer.) In a car like my Enyaq it is impossible to sit between the child seats or fit a third one, as the isofix points are so close to each other.
I'm watching your review from 🇮🇳 where VW remotely not even think of introducing this model considering Indian Auto Industry and customer aspirations and TAX regulations. But I quite enjoyed watching your content. Keep up
Trivia. The FORD / Mercury Products of the mid 70’s door closing sounds are so satisfying. Example 1975 Mercury Marquis sedan. Compared to a GM 4dr Sedan not so satisfying of a door closing sound. I had a ‘73 Fleetwood and a ‘75 Marquis 4 dr. The ford Products doors were so balanced and easy to close with a nice closing sound. Ok Rant over lol😅
The middle row seats in my 2017 Odyssey are removable and they are really heavy. I understand they have to be sturdy for durability and crash performance, but they will kill your back if you aren't careful. Would like to see car companies offer a light weight seat option for a premium. I'll pay $1000 for seats that don't weight 70 lbs.
Wow! Nice 7 seaters. IMHO, this vehicle is good for the family for traveling. When traveling you have more time enjoying the trip, I believe no issue on waiting during recharging the EV. I'm not sure why the front wind screen requires the big pillars on both sides, unless like previous older models, the pillars was there to accomodate the swivel type of mirrors that can be opened to allow fresh air coming inside the cabin without much wind drag. 😅
Very strange VW didn't make the second seat row removable. We're also a family of 5 but with our big dog. Currently in our T5 we have the bench seat near the back so we have lots of space for our dog to sit in the middle in his basket and we can keep an eye on him. But this is also useful for bikes, shopping, kinderwagen, bringing your grünschnitt to the local tip etc etc. Not being able to do that is rubbish.
Yep. I'll be sticking with a Pacifica with Stow "n Go seating. They all fold flat into the floor, perfect for cargo/furniture hauling or short camping trips. VW screwed up here. It's a damn minivan, people use them for utility.
Agree, this is the advantage of pure EV Platform...more inner space. The short Version is only 4.70m...shorter than a Passat B8 with 4,78m...but has deeper cargo space than a VW Multivan on ICE Platform with 4.97m...the engine in the front costs a lot of space inside.
@kahafb The inside of the concept looked amazing. Seats could be turned around to face eachother. There was a centre rail with what looked like a centre table. Seemed huge inside and the use of space was quirky. Now it just looks like any SUV inside. The same crossover/SUV issues too where the larger car isn't proportional to the increase of usable space. The seats don't lay flat enough to be a minivan/people carrier replacement. Not to mention that the concept had a steering wheel that retracts into the dashboard when not in use. Typical concept vs reality, unfortunately. Amazing ideas are used to get people hyped then completely ignored for the actual product. Underwhelming
Any idea whether this will come with NACS in the US? I hope VW isn't launching with an obsolete port which will require adapters for most of its life. I really like this car! This is becoming my favorite EV.
That issue with the middle row of seats not being able to be removed is a bit strange because when you think about induction, it should be possible to get electric power to that middle row of seats. The technology called induction is being tested for charging electric cars from under the road, but induction is also the same technology used in electric kettles that can unplug from their base, or electric toothbrushes. So induction technology has been around for a long time, it's cheap and surely it would be easy to connect the middle seat to a power source without have some complex cables that people have to plug in or unplug. As for the data, there are many ways of passing data without a cable.
I live in the US. I got my name on a waiting list 3 years ago and got a call about a month ago wanting to know what color I wanted. Supposedly they are making them in Germany and bringing over a round in November. Specs weren’t totally defined. But they thought it was a 91 kWh battery.
I find a turning circle of almost 12 Meters not especially narrow for a vehicle of less than 5 Meters. A Mercedes E class for instance has the same length and smaller turning circle but nobody has ever mentioned it's small turning circle before ...
@@autogefuehl You are right, just considering the wheelbase the turning circle is indeed quite small.

Kinda disappointing compared to T5/6/7 regarding the seats not being on rails, can't remove them, no bench/bed combo.... :/ Wonder if VW will try to make a California version of this.
When VW puts the new Tiguan’s steering wheel (with actual buttons), this will be a compelling package. Longer term, optimizing the infotainment for better user experience will make the car (almost) perfect.
Nice test! It would be great to know the specific options on the tested car. I am configuring one and am in doubt if I should choose the option for noise dampening windows, and here it is really relevant if the wind noise remarks are for a model with or without this.
was a huge part of the review, I did an extra part specifically showing the turning circle and talking and showing it again in the driving part plus an extra live parking demo
Great review. Is that sunroof blackout or dimmed? I’d like to get that option but I’ll be sleeping in it when camping so worried too much light would come through.
A major let down is that the third row is not sliding :( Seems that there is more space than beeden for the passengers if kids are on the third row, would have been nice to be able to convert that space to more luggage space. I guess i will stick with my Opel Zafira e - although I would love the longer range, design and chargin speed of the buzz...
Thomas, you mentioned how the ID Buzz might be useful to your brother and his family.. Any chance you were thinking about you and Lea for the same reasons? Thanks for an excellent review!
Door closing sound is important. YOu can hear hte build quolity of the car if the sound proofing is good and hte feel of a premium car or not. Toyota prius has one of the worts door closing sound in my opinion. And thats not a premium car,
Its pretty ridiculous how long its taken VW to being this to the US. Im very confused what they are doing over here. Their models are very uncompetitive in nearly every segment they are in. They have been here for decades and have very very little to show for it. Their sales are very very low comapred to the competition for many of their models. I genuinely am very confused that they are still selling cars over here to be honest. They only seem interested in offering their most expensive models these day here. Its very irritating to see so many brands to choose to sell lass cars but for higher profits. They all seem to be "moving up market" as they always say. We dont need these cars to move upmarket. We need affordable cars. Edit: See this is what Im talking about. The interior is plastic fantastic. Trying to compete with American brands for how much cost cutting they can do on the interior. And for such a high price point as well.
What %, of young families can afford this? They can afford less than young couples without kids. For the longest tine, these will not be available with a good second hand discount.
Nice review thanks, why I don't like it? The seats limitation and no possibility to chose if we want them heated or removable, the trunk side DISGUSTING welding not even covered, the range, the load capacity limit, the pillars in the front, the plastiky doors, the software, the dashboard, the wheel with capacitive buttons (instead of normal ones) PIANO BLACK stuff, the price, so no, not for me I guess.
It would be good during the rear seats section if you could mention whether all the rear seats have top tethers or not. Those are even more important than isofix I think.
@@autogefuehl well you can install most cars seats using a seatbelt instead of isofix (we call it UAS here in Canada). So although it's nice to have because it makes installation easier, it's not strictly necessary. But it is required to use the top tether for all forward facing car seats (again, at least in Canada, maybe not elsewhere). The top tether isn't a replacement or alternative to isofix, it's just a separate part of the car seat installation process. And it is required for some car seats, whereas the isofix is always optional.
@@MaddyWhite-o7h so that's why many NA cars have top tether anchors on all 3 seats in the 2nd row even though they might not have ISOFIX in the middle, wheres in Europe they would be missing top tether in the middle seat. 👌
The door closing sound of the buzz when the sliding doors are open was terrible for the short wheel base. Has this improved? Also, design aside, wouldn’t you recommend a Kia ev9 for your brother? Seems to bring more range, more performance and better interior quality for similar budgets… personally I’m really disappointed by the interior quality of the buzz, although I love the design.
