I never use the auxiliary climate control setting, perhaps sometime in the future I'll find a valid use case for it. I just use "Classic Climate" and it works well for me. For those complaining that it's overly complicated - it's not, there's just many ways to achieve the same result. If you like simple, stick with Classic Climate. 🤷
Wow, thanks. I just test drove an AWD ID4, and although I really didn't have much time with the vehicle, my immediate impression was this system is really overly complicated and has too many redundant pages doing the same function. When I first got in, I thought, ok where's the radio??? And then I thought, why do I have to press a home button, or flip a page, then find the radio button, press that, then get to the radio functions? I suppose much of this could be customized but too many pages, too many steps is my first impression. And using apple car play means losing the basic visuals of the all of the other car information? And the 2 heated seat symbols is all of the air system? That's wacky. Make it simple VW! If I have a big map up, have all of the main widget/buttons squeezed to the side or to the bottom. And they don't have to be dumbo sized. Ha, anyways, I was impressed by the performance of the vehicle but now the wait times are 12 months up here in Canada!!
Thanks for posting this, appreciate the guidance! But good lord what a dumpster fire of an interface this is. VW had it right in the MK7.5 cars, this is a huge step backwards.
I have a 2023 Pro S and when I use carnet the AC is always coming on when I want to heat the cabin before getting in the car. How do I get this AC not to toggle on?
2023 vw id4 pro s here. Question, with the climate control off why am I getting outside air coming in? When I turn the ac on I always leave recirculate on as I hate outside air coming inside. I can’t click recirculate with the climate system off.
Silly to not have some dedicated buttons like steering wheel, seat heaters at the very least. To have to mess about while driving just to turn on the steering wheel heater is dumb. Spend 2 cents and put a button on the wheel like everyone else.
Please notice he never showed the carnet actually responding. Typical cycle time when it works is several minutes. Also, notice that from carnet the only option is off and on. Forget about customizing the seats or steering wheel.
The climate presets actually make sense for me. In this time of pandemic I go in to the office as early as 6:30-7:00 am, once twice or 3x per week and never on a set day. Never on a set time. Sometimes I don’t have to go in until 8:00. So for these reasons setting the car to when I just get in the car in the morning makes sense. Funny thing, my genZ just started operating the climate control the first time she needed to be warm and didn’t ask, how? Very intuitive for the younger gen I guess. Altho I’m a genX and I preferred to learn the functions first and only when the car was parked😅 Overall I don’t find the operations to be complicated as a first time ID4 owner.
69 degrees 🤣 Can also set the heated wheel/seats to auto come on with "low temps" when car is turned on (seems to click over in mid 40s bit never tested exact, might be in manual). Wish the app had access to setup scheduling.
I see you keep hitting the screen to activate the different functions. Do you have to hit or are they touch to get the different functions to activate? You are stabbing the screen. Is it Touch Sensitive or do you have to hit it?
Just touching will do. Sometimes I am holding the camera with one hand so operating the screen is harder because I am also trying to keep the camera still :-)
Can you change by the app the steering wheel temp and two front seats? Example say if you're dinner in a restaurant you have a friend with you inside your giving them a lift home can you preset the car now to add the passenger seat temp from the app and cut on the steering wheel heater? Also can you make changes to your presets for the next morning from the app if you're departure time changes?
Looks to me like a huge fail by VW in respect of these vital controls they would drive me nuts…. The ID4 was top of my list, not anymore, very disappointing.
