VW Lupo 3L tdi ventectomy (removing the VAG tank venting mechanism) 

You will get about 300 km longer with same tank. Advantage is that you dont have to fill so often and you will have better option to get to the cheapest gas station to fill up if it is on your route. Price difference in Finland between different stations can be up to 0.2 €/per liter. So if you fill full about 40 liters you can save 8€ on one tank. Do that about 8 times and you have got one "free" tank of diesel. And this saves also your time...

Thank's! After ventectomy I filed 37l fueil to my Lupo 3L, just at the end needed to fill at slower rate.

Remember that venting mechanism fills the etra expansion pipe (10 liters) in the tank and its main purpose is to avoid overfill in crashes which hit directly to fuel tank. So when you fill the tank to the top you should always drive about 50 km so the fuel wont overspill from the tank on hot days. Its only relatively safe to do it in diesel cars and i am not taking any responsibilty of what you do to your own cars. Check more instructions/details with google search: "remove the vent guts easily"

Groove on the upper side if the venting mechanism in on the right side of the tank pipe. - Push the key down about 2-3mm and push at the same time with that torx srewdriver from the venting knob inside the fuel tank pipe. You need to push about 5-10 kg of force to get it out. - Take flat screwdriver to unlock the small locking pins on the other side. You need to bend it about 2mm to unlock. then the other side and the venting mechanism is out. - put it back in the same position in reverse order

Pushing works just fine, but it takes little longer and you sometimes spill some diesel to your clothes when the gas pump pistol slips off from the button.

Or you can just push the vent button as you fill ;-)
