Thank you! Excellent job with the explanation and the visual correlation plus second angle with flashlighted example and good camera angle! Clear as day, well done to both of you.
My car battery was dead and the all the mechanical locks were long gone too. This was the only non-destructive way in to charge the battery and open the doors. Thanks bros!
I was in the same situation until half an hour ago, all the doors locked and no power at all, after like an hour of RU-vid on videos like " how to open a car door" I found this video, I wasn't that confident, but in less than 30 seconds hood was opened, luckily dead battery wasn't my problem just some loose contacts. A really big thank you for this guy 🙂👍
Four years later i was in the same situation of this guy, this by far is one of the most useful video i have found on the internet, im very thankfull my friend, cheers!!!!
Thanks for posting this video! Put a new radiator in an 03 Jetta. Checked the hood cable before I closed it, but i didnt have the cable end thoroughly attached. This video saved me a lot of aggravation. Thanks again! 2003 Jetta 2.0 L 177,547 miles, original owner.
You are a lifesaver. I replaced the latch on my granddaughter's Golf. As soon as I closed the hood to test the latch, I realized I didn't reconnect the cable. You saved me. Thanks.
WOW!!!!! I was thinking that I had to take to dealership. I had changed out the lights and forgot to place cable back into position. thanks a Million for this post. That will be my after work project!!!!
awsome!!!absolutely amazing!!!You saved my day!!!right in the middle of nowhere my mk4 got heated up so I went to open the hood and check the water level in the water tank: as i was pulling out the little plastic lever that comes out of the hood, it just snapped and broke to pieces leaving me with the hood semi-opened meaning it was released by the lever inside the car, but still latched and hooked!!! I was in total panic till I came across this video!!! absolutely a SAVER!!!! SHOUTOUTs to you buddy WHOEVER YOU ARE AND WHEREVER YOU ARE!!! Bless ya!!
@@amcrae1 😅😂🤣👍🏻👌🏿infact by the time I was phoning&chatting around and searching on the web advices it did cool down a bit.. But still very hot. The first time I tried I had literally burned my cheek!! I still got the mark on my face!!! And I also felt the extreme temperature just trying to remove the actual under tray (I dnt know hw u call that) essentially the plastic cover. In fact once removed, I had no choice but to sit in the car and keep watching your video over and over again along with other videos till it cooled down a bit!! But I must say: u R really Awsome!! I bet u anything hw many people like me APPRECIATED a solution like yours, possibly and potentially in the worst moment of their day!!!! KeepItUp Buddy!! 👍🏻👊🏾🤙💪🏼🤙🤛🤝🙏🏽👏🏿👏🏿🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@azelbane87 Did you find out that the problem was low antifreeze? You could also have a thermostat issue or water pump issue or a plugged up radiator!
My MK4 is lowered, I’m glad the bumper was off when the hood got stuck or it would’ve been a lot more tricky! But this worked great for me, thank you! :)
Holy crow this is awesome never had any video actually showing this, I fixed my latch an accidentally shut it an couldn’t open it.. I’m going to try an fix it today Edit* it freakin worked!!! Now have a working good again!
Hey, your video was superb! Saved me a lot of work and/or metal cutting. I am glad my right arm isn’t any thicker! Otherwise, I’d never be able to get access to that lever. Thx!!!
Great help, got me in the right direction. In my case, Polo 2010 UK, there was no way to get to the catch. All surrounded in plastic. Once under the car I removed the 2 bolts, t30, holding the catch. That popped the bonnet. then 2 10mm bolts to release the bonnet from the catch and open. problem was where the 2 cables meet the coupler had broken. Great security design but terrible for service ... Thanks for the pointers.
@@amcrae1 I just got to praise you guys one more time. I've spent hours and hours over the last 3 days looking for videos on how to fix my hood. Mine broke at the latch inside the car and then somehow popped out at the hood latch at the other end absolutely no videos to help me. You guys are awesome thanks again.
Thank you man, you saved me, I was so confused how I get to my car battery because it's dead and I couldn't reach it now i will recharge it and the problem solved
Great 👍🏻 video, the first minutes and 10 seconds worked for me! Woooohoooo! The battery was dead and the physical key 🔑 did not turn! So thanks for the latch opening from outside! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🦸🏼♂️
Very very nice. My 2001 Jetta cable is really tight (rusted??) so I'm glad to see how to release the hood latch in case it breaks before my new cable arrives (any day now).
great video, mines just broke on me so I now know what to do, thanks, would say aswell make sure your engines cold and turned off before sticking your hand up there!
I appreciate the effort on trying to help, and thank you for showing thieves how to steal your battery. Happened to me already, and I'm sure this is the way they opened my hood
Merci mon pote ! Ta vidéo est bien réalisée et l'ambiance est cool, je partage avec les propriétaires de Golf du vieux continent, je te souhaite une belle vie !
You are my hero...looked everywhere and you suddenly popped up....brill...thank you for offering a cost free technique...you deserve every accolade! Just one thing are you doing this on righthand drive vehicle? Feeling a bit, without insulting anyone, blonde and I am a left hander ...I have difficulty knowing which way a thread of a screw works and I am a oap female...every disadvantage! Haha...need to charge my battery :)
It is left hand wheel but I imagine it's quite similar. Volkswagen back in the day had alot of interchangeable designs to conserve money and it benefits us too.
On a Vw MK4 you should try a engine like a VR6 12v, 24v, 3.2 that would never work! Vw mk4 2L are the easy car's to work on, so much space! thanks for sharing with us, it's to bad it's a 2L
@@iankirkwood2772 I would love to see it done on the 2004 VW Golf R32 Turbo? No challenge, just saying it's extremely difficult with out damaging anything. Very tricky, good luck I've done it! Great video that was shown don't get me wrong, very helpful video!
@@iankirkwood2772 ok! You said that the 1st time, now a 2nd time. Hopefully the 3rd time it should be then, not responding to me. lol Be safe! Like I said very helpful video!
Nice job man unfortunately you can't do that on a Corrado because the hood release is located basically behind the headlight and tucked in alongside the radiator support so it's almost impossible to gain access to without breaking the headlight off the car such a crappy design VW made! And that's the car I have. It's one of the most difficult cars ever to work on for that reason!
