In this video I have this VW Passat 2006 in which I found a lot of water in the footwell of the drivers side, water was coming in from the bulkhead area as the drain holes were blocked.

I did it without removing the vipers. I removed that 2 pins on the sides that you showed and it allowed me to stretch the plastic enough to put my hand through and remove a lot of dirt like that. Then I pushed power washer in it and huge amount of mud and leaves went out. Now it's been raining for 2 days and I don't have any new water inside. It just takes a lot to dry that water from before. I am not as skilled as you to remove floor carpet without damage so I used towels and hair dryer and also syringe with big needle so I stick it in the carpet and find pockets of water under it and then pull it out with syringe. I swear I removed like 10-15 liters of water from down there , it took me hours 😂. Thank you again for your video brother. You saved my car

well done am glad you did it, without removing the wiper blades, excellent, it might be the faster way to do it for others as well, thanks for letting us all know how you did it.

@user-vr8uu1fk3m - please can you advise which 2 pins you removed? Can you advise at what point on the.video these are located? @daringbeefcake are the carpets easy to.remove.and could.they be wet dry vacuumed for speed ? Thank you both

I think you need to watch the video to see where the pins are, as i dont think anyone will remember by heart the exact minute, you need to do your own work. The video is already there to help, removing the carpets it not easy, so best way is to try suck the water from under the carpet by lifting the side and try absorb as much from the carpet, then either connect a heater to dry it or run the car with the heater on full hot for a while every day or wait till summer. @@mj2023uk

Excellent Video! I am about to remove and replace my wiper cowls to find and fix a leak. I have an idea what and where it is, putting the cover on and off to keep her dry is getting old. Time to fix it. I wanted to know if I needed a sealant to seal to plastic cowl to the window. Your video showed me exactly what I am going to have to. Brilliant! Thank you so much ! I have a gem of 2008 Passat 2.0 FSI turbo that runs like a dream at 16 :)

Fantastic thank you. Do you have any advice for repairing wheel arch rust on these cars?
@DaringBeefcake
@DaringBeefcake 7 месяцев назад
No worries, well the only way is to sand the area down and apply some rust inhibitor and some paint, if it’s large area you may want to get it sprayed by someone but then it costs money. Depends how you want your car to look.

I have the same problem. Drivers side front and back soaking. It looks like its coming out of the back feet air vent. Does that cover lead to the air vents do you know??
@DaringBeefcake

Which cover are you referí g too ?
@shaunprince6986

@@DaringBeefcake mines also right hand drive and its the cover under the wind shield wipers on the drovers side. My drain hole is clear but im wondering if it is seeping in behind the cover because of a poor seal
@DaringBeefcake
@DaringBeefcake Год назад
@@shaunprince6986 yes that is usually what happens the poor seal around that cover lets water in. so technically you can apply some sealant around it or may need to remove it and reseal. That usually lets water into the footwell of the drivers side and water accumulates and goes to the rear footwell as well..

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have the very same issue on my USA 2009 B6 Passat passenger side, (your drivers side). For a vehicle that drives soo well, there are soo many janky parts used to build it. This moisture has caused many issues with other systems. I may never buy another.

What a incredibly crap design! I’ve to go try this now myself as I’ve the same puddle on the footwell. Definitely no garage would clean this out during a service and no way is this normal user diy. So it’s designed to fail and make you get a new car. Or the poor person who own the car after ten year gets wet feet and hard luck live with it. Typical BS. If you swap your car out every 3 years you’ll never hear or see these issues so why would the car crowd care. They all get paid loads so have new cars every second year. Passing on the shit to those below. Look at that hassle. 💩 VW Not looking forward to doing this myself this week :(

Totally understand, it is a terrible design, on earlier models the transmission ecu was located on drivers side foot well and would also get damaged, I had one and almost had to scrap it till I found a used tcu in Poland, £600 pounds later the car was drivable again, crazy.

You are correct about the old Passat B5. I recently had the pleasure of cleaning out the mud from the drain hole under the battery. And another one under the brake master cylinder. Thanks for the video. My car has been steaming up lately and I know there is something wrong. I just haven't had the heart to actually investigate it but this video inspired me.

Thanks for video brother i just have the same problem on my b6. I wanted to ask do you think that mud inside can be cleaned a little bit with Power washer without removing the plastic? Like pointing it somehow through the holles in that black plastic so that water pressure unblock it a little? I am asking because it looks so annoying to remove the vipers and everything 😢. It was easier on b5 😂
