Drove both, preferred the T-roc over the audi. Don't care about plastics on the interior, it just drove better, felt better and in my humble opinion looked better. To each his own... :)

What, in my opinion the Audi Q2 feels much better to drive, it felt somewhat similar to the A5, while the Volkswagen was pretty uncomfortable for me, the breaking was weird, steering wasn't that smooth, and just the overall quality was also off.

I also have an Audi Q2. For me the road noise and the noise of the tires is terrible. Much too loud for such an expensive car. On the highway it's becoming even more louder. I bought Michelin silent tires, but the Q2 stays very noisy inside. It's really irritating and tiring me. We also have a Polo which is much more silent.

I've just got a 2017 Q2, 2 litre TDI. My last cars were both Skoda fabias, I only changed because I need a bigger car. I must say I absolutely love the Q2. It's fast, incredible to drive, really like the shape of it and it's my first automatic car and I didn't realise just how nice it is to change to automatic. Yes there's some things on the design like the key is an old cheap thing, it's not keyless start, but that's not the end of the world. It's not perfect size wise, but it's enough for what I need and it will be enough for as long as I need the extra bit of room. I'll be keeping the car as long as it will last
@MoAV15

I would pick the Audi Q2 because of its funky and exceptional design without the fake exhaust tips, has a great interior ergonomics with easy-to-use controls and engaging to drive over the Volkswagen.

I honestly don't think the Q2/Q3/A3 interiors are all that nice? In the bigger Audi's for sure they're really comfortable but I don't know how a soft touch dash makes the Q2 suddenly nicer than the T-Roc. Neither particularly exciting though!

The T-Rocs interiour is laughably bad imo. I have sat in one a couple of days ago that was specced up to 46k€, but the inside felt cheaper than any Mk8 Fiesta. I always liked VW interiours for their minimalist design with high quality materials (for the class), but some of the latest models are just terrible.

The point of the downgraded interior seems to be lost on many. The T Roc is a barge created for the Mum and the school run , the brats are occupying the other seats....well kicking the Hell out of them, spilling their drinks, treading sweets into the fabric of the seat and carpets . It was never intended to be luxury only practicality !

The troc is better! I’m very indecisive and have been figuring out which one to buy for a very long time. The Q2 entry level is very cheap looking the exterior and interior n I’m a massive Audi fan so was disappointed to find it’s only worth getting the sports upwards not technik The Troc is more solid n even at entry level looks great. Also worth to know that troc even at entry level drives exactly the same as the higher specs as it’s just the look that slightly changes with trim etc not the drive. I’d go for a 1.5

Some crossovers (SUV seems a bit rich) look good, but for the same (or less) money, you could potentially get a higher specification model of the hatchback it's based upon with better interior, better handling and better fuel consumption. Admittedly, you lose a bit of interior space and ground clearance (and possibly a better view), but even if you have 4WD (not that their hatchback equivalents don't, especially in Audi's case), who's going to take them off-road anyway? Perhaps people like the idea of sitting higher up, or being able to lord it over other drivers.

@markheywood8236
@markheywood8236 5 лет назад
The answer is a Golf. The only differences between a Golf and T-Roc is that the T-Roc rides higher and has a fractionally larger boot - but the Golf has a far better interior, rides/drives better than both of these mini SUVs and will hold its value better. Why not an A3 then? Well because it's just a Golf with jewellery on, and while it's marginally better than the Golf....it doesn't warrant the significant price difference. If you want a mid size, grown up car with a hatch, buy a Golf. Or a Skoda Octavia if you want a bit more space.

Matt, maybe the Volkswagen would have felt faster with a less sedate color. You should have tried using the money you saved and gotten, Energetic Orange or maybe Turmeric Yellow. It seems to me performance was kind of subjective. I'm willing to wager you have alot of money left over in the comparison after Audi charged you for all the extras to appreciate the added utility afforded to you by the vdub. Better seating, more room and less expensive. And I got that all from Carwow.

@decnijfkris3706
@decnijfkris3706 4 года назад
@@zerosysteem02 the thing is all German brands except for Mercedes are bad salesmen in a crisis climate. There is still the aftermath of the exhaust scandal and a rearrangement of the vw dealernet. Cars as shown in a vw dealership are too expensive. Vw should lure the customer in the back of the showroom and show him a model in basic white or dark blue with only airo, parkassist hinten and a gps module on. Entering a vw showroom youll see 22000 euro polo or 29000 euro TRoc. That does not work anymore. so two colours and three o ptions. But you can't explain that to Wolfsburg. Most people in my country watch multibrand dealers' vw offer to see if there is a bargain to do and never enter a vw dealership. Audi is even worse. Germans are proud and stubborn even if it costs. A year or five ago VW applied the rabbat politics to relaunch the brand and that worked because people had a good feeling buying a beetle at 17500 euros. That worked. A very good thing they did is to make options much much cheaper. And now I even find the customer's array of choices is too extended and makes things tricky in the factory. So kürz, a vw in two basic colours with 3 options in the showroom and that will sell. Vw still is the better car you know.

Interestingly most cars are very colour sensitive and here is no exception ; the colour white is frequently overlooked and underestimated as a choice .

If Mat teamed up with a manufacturer to design and build the perfect car then the dashboard would be padded, the boot would have no lip, the back seats would fold exactly flat, there would be no fake exhaust, you would be able to carry water bottles inside every door, the C pillars would have 'opera windows' in them, the centre console would be solid as a rock and there would be enough headroom for abraham Lincoln to ride in the back wearing his top hat. What did I miss? I do think Mat should design a car though, I would buy one rather than something Pininfarina churned out.

Got the missus a second hand 2020 Q2 1.0 sport and it's great for her, we got a nice warranty deal for 5 years with the Audi dealership we bought it from. It had daft low mileage and was immaculate. The Audi is fab. I love it, nice comfortable drive and it's rock solid on the road the breaking system is the sharpest I've ever had on a vehicle and it's safe as houses. iThe steering is nice and responsive, very responsive in fact. It feels professional if that's the right word, or 'classy'. it's also more fuel economical than our old 1.3 ten year old Corsa!! Yes some of the trim is a bit plastic'y but the breaking, suspension and engine system is where the engineering is. We tried Seat (too rubbery on the road) Renault (too sluggish) and Toyota (too cheap feeling) and various other makes and none of them felt like the Audi to drive. Massive boot space and comfy interior. It's comfortable, has a fair bit of poke to the engine, feels more like a 1.3/1.4 engine and is very very comfortable. I keep the old banger and she has the Audi. Luckily she looks after it and it doesn't do huge amounts of miles. A good little car to pick up second hand for a good price, but a good warranty is worth getting if you can preferably from an authorised dealer rather than a 'car warehouse' type retailer. Yes, there's a lot of expensive upgrades and such like, but I'd never buy a car like this brand new! If i was looking for more luxury I'd have gone for a second hand Q3 sport version but we don't need a bigger and more expensive to run car. Bonus's with the Q2 include a cheaper insurance, road tax and London congestion charge exemption because of it's low emission engine! :) A belter of a little car, or not so little depending on your view...

Remember back in 2016, they used to make it go down. You would think that now with the in dash screens, they would bring back the pop up screens. I was just saying the same thing about the dash. This video is to sell you on a Audi, you'll never get one for 19, whereas a VW for 19 is more realistic. Classic salesmanship going on here.

I have driven both. The VW feels slower off the mark and less dynamic when it comes handling, the handling on the Q2 40 TFSI is superb and feels like a true hot hatch. The interior on the Q2 feels and looks fancier, the multimedia system is non touch screen though, but I personally like that, since I don't like using touch while driving, just feels unsafe. The VW has the more sophisticated exterior from the front IMHO, but the Q2 with a black grill matches it in this respect. I ended up getting the Q2 and I absolutely love the drive, what did surprise me though is it consumes up to 50% more fuel than the claimed 6.5L when driving in the suburbs, you're realistically looking at 9.4L/100 if not higher, they really should force car manufacturers to perform more realistic fuel consumption tests.

Does anyone actually ever sit in their car and scratch at the interior to see if it's scratchy plastic or not? Can't say I do.

I have had a Q2 Sport for just under a year and although I find the ride a little firm overall I would recommend it as it is lovely to drive and full of great technology.

The Q2 actually looks good in this spec. The rims also do the trick. Too bad I already saw way too many entry level ones that looked really awkward..

exterior vw wins . Interior Audi wins . But there is no clear winner here imo . Audi q2 is more like a lifestyle car rather than practical .

Yes for sure Carwow is one of the most biased car review channels in the business and also one of the most superficial - never gets into details, never points out good or bad stuff, never takes the time to show practicality and testing infotainment systems - always chooses the same cars and the same verdicts. Matt is close to being the Donal Trump of car reviewers - in fact was it not for clever comments like your this channel would be dead already.

Does it really matter about the "scratchy" cabin plastic material on the VW T-Roc upfront? For vehicles around the 20k - 25k price range what you expecting? You get what you pay for brand new.
