As someone who has dabbled in playing the bassoon, this performance is exquisite ! Katharina just dances on her instrument, it sounds so easy when played by such a virtuoso. The orchestra is also very nimble and exact. I'm very impressed ! The work of the sound engineers was also very good, some national broadcasters could learn a bit here.
Einer meiner Brüder, leider vor einigen verstorben, war Fagottist im Ausbildungsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr. Frau Mätzler spielt ganz hervorragend und ich bin, obschon meine Lieblingsinstrumente das Cembalo und die Orgel sind, vollauf begeistert! Ich wünsche ihr viel Erfolg auf ihrem weiteren Lebensweg!
Katharina Mätzler intoniert so wundervoll einfühlsam, hat mich berührt. Grosses Lob dem Orchester und seinem Dirigenten: Akzentuiert und dennoch nicht aufdringlich wird das Fagottsolo untermalt.
This obviously young girl plays the solo bassoon part without any sheet music, In addition to great music, an admirable example of practice with talent.
As i was admiring this piece, I all of a sudden realized that every one in this orchestra was really young. Wow they sound like a top notch orchestra. I absolutely love the performance of the soloist.
Amazing; the bassoon is thicker than the young lady's wrist, but she makes it sing!! A wonderful performance, and I think the conductor enjoyed it as much as the audience did.

This is the first time I have ever seen and heard of a bassoon playing a leading part in a piece of music. Usually for a lower range the cello is the soloist. So good to hear the double reeds being so honored!

One often hears young musicians cutting their teeth on this best-known of bassoon concerti, but it is not every day one encounters a young musician approaching it with such a level of musicianship. After exemplary (and difficult) cadenzas in the first two movements, I love her abbreviated and almost humorous dismissal in the Menuet, where it would have been superfluous. Good job - well done! (Side note - someone needs to slip the horn player some barbituates before the next performance!)
As someone who had to stop playing bassoon due to my academic priorities, this is a reminder of what a wonderful instrument the bassoon is, in the right hands. Magical rendition!

Not a single down vote, as it should be! These young, but very talented, musicians are showing their passion and talents and Mozart is flowing through them. I was in Vienna during the MozartFest of 1991 and watched a 200 years dead man kick a bassoon player's arse. That night the opera house had only first and second chairs playing and having their three corner hats handed to them while playing - yet these youngsters are showing comfort and ease while playing very complex and intricate music. Mozart wrote concertos for friends who wanted to showcase new instruments and make their marks by playing difficult pieces, so I wonder what Amadeus would say about this showcase of talent? What a marvelous performance and played in the lively spirit in which Mozart should be played! Sehr gut gespielt und alles Gute für eure musikalische Karriere!
Frank Zappa mentioned several times that his favorite instrument is the bassoon - he would have loved this concert played by such talented young musicians! Congrats, Ihr habt grossartig gespielt!
Excellent interpretation! Excellent articulation! Never heard a lovelier tone produced on a Bassoon! This seldom happens to me (any more) but you made me feel like I was hearing Mozart for the first time.

It is amazing how competently Mozart was able to express a family scandal in this work. The wife, the bassoon, constantly scolds her husband, the two oboists, the mother-in-law, periodically assent to her against the backdrop of the atmosphere. which is created by french horns and strings. The husband, the clarinet, tries to object, doing it so timidly, as if he were not there at all. Well, his friend, the second bassoon, sadly watches all this action. 😭
i dont know how you read so much into this piece i hear only a pleasant concerto did mozart actually write about the situation your speaking of otherwise i dont believe anything your speaking of
@@Yunklob Well, much has been written about Mozart's life and work, and we are fortunate to know a great deal about both, as most of his work survives, as do the details of his life, meticulously recounted in his very copious letters written to father and family nearly every day. You could of course attempt to upend everything written today with your highly idiosyncratic interpretave wellspring, but you should be prepared to encounter some skepticism, and at the least expect to be taken to task for justification through the ample details we have of his daily life and his approach to work.

Bravo. Immer wieder höre ich mir diese wunderbare Aufnahme mit jungen Talenten. Es erinnert mich auch an Freund Hans Varch aus der Studienzeit, der - so viel ich weiss - hier tätig war. Im Jahr 1977 kehrte ich zurück - damals nach Yugoslawien und verlor gänzlich Kontakt zu ihm. Wünsche diesen jungen Talenten noch viel Erfolg.
What a delight to have the opportunity to listen to the young Basson soloist K. Mätzler performing a complex work with a radiant sparkle of serenity and regal. It is marvellous to see an orchestra assembled by young professional musicians. The orchestra and the soloist performed technical brilliance and interpretation of a sublime piece of excellence.
