W. A. Mozart - KV 257 - Credo Mass in C major 

Ferrariman601 well. Mr. Ferrariman; im here to listen and compare this Mass to KV 258; which happens to be ALL TIME FAVORITE. However, as I listen even as I message you; the Gloria ; of KV 257, is quite intriguing.

Continuing this 5-month-old conversation - sorry! What really sets this one apart from 258, for me anyway, is the Credo and the Dona Nobis Pacem sections. I think they capture more of Mozart's inherent joviality and volatility than 258 does as a whole, despite that one being a masterpiece in its own right. Just, the contrast in the solemn, yet still hopeful mood of the music, accompanying the text "Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserére nobis," which is of course a somber supplication, contrasted with the frenetic, almost unhinged fervor of the Dona Nobis is just sublime!

Yep. It is in B major. Was it performed that way?

Historical tuning was not standardized so a lot of period performances are tuned differently.

Congrats Mr. Absolute Pitch! They are probably tuned in 415Hz.

John Kiunke Atheist or not, MOZART definitely possessed an ANOINTING of the CREATOR OF MAN; the boy began composing music at the early age of 5. His ear for the complex themes of these masses are UNTOUCHABLE. Phenomenal !
