K.466 W. A. Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 in d minor, K.466 지휘 임헌정 피아노 손열음 코리안심포니오케스트라 Hun-Joung Lim, Conductor Yeoleum Son, Piano Korean Symphony Orchestra
This is a great example of the fact that we are all the same. Imagine us, sitting in Europe, listening to this consert, played in South Corea by a Corean pianist and Corean orchestra, they are playing Mozart, from Salzburg, he has been transported across this world, and now we can sit at home in old Europe and listen to this splendid playing. Isn´t that fantastic? By the way, a wonderful interpretation, Yeol Eum Son and Corean Symphony Orchestra!
A captivating interpretation, at the same height of the memorable performance of the concerto No. 21 in Moscow at the Tchaikovsky 2011, with which Yeoleum Son won the prize for best performance with orchestra. Absolutely sublime. Day to day, Yeoleum is consolidated as a reference interpreter of Mozart. For me, their names will always keep together inextricably. Mozart's genius has, of course, no end of readings, but the Yeoleum one is definitely my favorite. A refined musical maturity, of a dense content, intertwined with tenderness, with a freshness and a delicacy that steal the heart. Yeoleum, pure music! Yeoleum wonderful! I adore her, I adore her!
Clarity of diction in the playing, interplay with the orchestra and she captures the operatic dimension of Mozart's concertos - they all 'sing'. Her No. 21 has exceeded 5 million views. What pleasures there are for those who have not yet seen and heard this one.
How right you are! Luckily, Yeol Eum Son has in her repertoire all Mozart's concerti, including K 365 and K 242 for 2 and 3 pianos respectively. That means an inexhaustible source of pleasures, that we will enjoy, as they appear.
@@jamesshea9118 another lovely Mozart and great pianist. This is no.20, not 21, probably the most known for its middle part used in movies. I love All his concertos, this one i feel has a touch here and there of Beethoven.
Op.127 Beethoven, this is no.20, not 21. Lovely as well, the great pianist too. The no. 21 is more known, the middle part used in movies. And this one has a touch here and there of Beethoven. All concertoes so beautiful.
It's not likely that Mozart had ever seen a Korean in his lifetime. Here we are, Koreans playing his music. He would be delighted. He may be around, listening.
You make to much of cultural differences. Music is a universal language that expresses the feelings, aspirations and goals of all human beings and proves how alike we are, something that racists deplore. Like it or not music proves our brotherhood.
Oh Yeoleum is so engaged with the orchestra. The timing is impeccable. So many recordings the piano is never exactly in time with the orchestra (the version in Amadeus for example) but here she masters the "connection" with the orchestra
There is a magic in her playing, a totality of insight that is simply breathtaking. It's so easy to get caught up in the sweep and excitement of the music and her great feel and understanding of Mozart. This performance brought tears to my eyes and unbounded joy to my heart. She is a great, great pianist and reminds me of what a world treasure the music of Mozart is.
Of all the wonderful concert pianists performing these days, I have to say Yeolseum Son is my favorite. Something about the way she articulates these compositions makes them sound better to my ears. Another is Helene Grimaud.
Another stunningly good Mozart performance from Yeol Eum Son. I am very biased when it comes to Mozart as his music is so close to my heart but I certainly agree with other people here suggesting Yeol Eum Son is becoming one of the definitive interpreters of his Piano Concertos. Other than the sublime K 467 (21) there is a very good RU-vid performance of her playing K450 (15). Mozart was a master at the concerto ( and let's not get started on his chamber music and Operas) and K466 and K467 are among the best ever written demanding the highest level of playing. Ms Song's performances are so refined in Mozart and I can't wait to hear more from her in the future. Kudos also to this very fine Orchestra.
I'm her fan too - from this very day I first heard her. This is marvellous, takes me off into a world God created to contemplate beauty, marvel at this pure delight, gives me a knowing about where I'm going, reduces me to tears in pain for shear joy...well, it' s beyond words, no chance. Another pianist I travel with this way is Glenn Gould, playing Bach; it destroys me.
I've loved the concerto from the age of 10, and IMO is the most perfect piano concerto ever written. I believe this is certainly one of the best versions, live or otherwise, of recent years. Ms Yeoleum Son brings conviction and vitality to the work, reassuring us that the greatest music ever composed needs to be passed on by the best torchbearers of the future. The conscientious efforts of the orchestra with the musicality of Ms Yeoleum has made this a very treasured recording. Congratulations!
MERCI...YEOLE...
I watched a PBS show that was about Mozart's 20th piano concerto last night. This was after I had earlier listened to Yeol Eum play it here. Only Yeol Eum captures Mozarts musical thoughts and intentions and makes them clear to an audience. I had to listen to it here again. It's like having my ears and my mind cleared to hear Mozart's thoughts -- and I can only hear them through Yeol Eum.
I am also amazed how Yeol Eum shows her musical feelings and makes us happy. To play Mozart is extremely difficult and one of the late Austrian masters, Gulda mentioned once that it is useful to live in Vienna for some time in order to get the wonderful feeling which Mozart was able to present us. It is all about interpretation presenting the inner musicality and not about technical capacity. I liked to listen from her once an interpretation of "La cathedrale engloutie" (Claude Debussy). Most of the greater piano players failed to express adequately the mysterious levels of this unique music piece. Nelson Freire succeeded to my understanding.
Clarity of the level of clarity of the pianist is such that only listening to this performance, without the benefit of reading, tells me it has the distinct signature of no other than the unsurpassable-in-clarity Yeol Eum Son!
What astounds me is that in addition to her mastery of Mozart, amply noted here in previous comments, is that she shows amazing competence on other disparate portions of the musical universe. I love how she swings on Gershwin, for example, and others. I fully expect to see her playing a two piano duet with Ladyva before long!
I have listened to and appreciated Brendel very much, yet neither he nor anyone I've heard yet can equal Yeol Eum's playing, despite how young she is in years.
A terrific performance in every way. And even more so since the whole thing is being played by musicians brought up in a totally different musical milieu to European performers. I am very impressed!
This should make you question your statement about Asian musicians being brought up in "a different musical milieu". You must connect your ears to the rest of your brain. We now live in an interconnected world that should be and will crack open all of the narrow misconceptions that Europeans and Americans have of other places and other peoples. Yeol Eum is likely the greatest classical pianist we have today, in my view --- despite being a woman, despite being Asian. That should open up a lot of narrow heads!
@@danielscheinhaus5210 Methinks thou dost protest too much - interconnected our world may be, but you can be sure that musicians of that quality will have, from childhood, absorbed the wonderful traditions and styles of far eastern civilisations and their musical history at least as much as the western genres. That was all I meant.
It's a pleasure to listen Korean musicien playing classical music, even if this does'nt belong to Korean tradition. I appreciate It very much. Bravi!!! Paolo, Italy
This music has become part of Korean and East Asian tradition. As the world shrinks, we are building a world tradition that is making us all one humanity.
Barletta Francesco Roma. Grazie grazie Yeoleum Son. Bravissima!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The horns were a little overpowering early in the first movement, but other than that, this, to me, is perfectly executed, both by the orchestra and the pianist. Really nicely done.
My favorite Mozart and the best performance in my amateur opinion (out of the 3 or 4 I’ve watched). Beautiful, soulful, passionate, elegant, classy and lovely artist. Thank you for every moment of effort, failure, doubt and time that you sacrificed to deliver this masterful performance.
I just listened again to this magnificent performance by Yeol Eum. It's so wonderful it brings tears to my eyes. I wish I could recall your alphabet. I must again transliterate into English. Ka'am sa ham nyi da!
I have a deep and abiding interest in how the soul connects with the body; and I believe that Rupert Sheldrake’s hypothesis of morphic resonance and morphic fields (i.e., souls, which are memory complexes in an inframental [divine] sea in constant intercommunication with the physical ) which form and control - as kinds of “master programs” - hitherworldly life forms, is the currently best philosophical explanation for that connection. To me, the ethereal “Amadean” performance by Yeol Eum Son demonstrates exquisitely the preternatural transception between the mundane body and the transmaterial soul. She is a kind of earthly incarnation of angelic transcendence.
