Celibidache was chief conductor for the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in the 1960s (and made them a high class orchestra in Europe). I saw him perform many times. I taped from the Swedish radio a concert with them playing this Mozart concerto that was uniquely fast at that time (much faster than this one). The radio then accidentally erased the recording and therefore publicly asked for a private copy. It turned out that only I and someone else had a recording. Nothing came out of it eventually so I still cherish that recording.
You see those who said he was "too slow", were not really into his music. Celi was not worried if it was in a fast or slow time, but with the right time, that makes us capable to truly hear the music.
Grazie
Very "serious", very articulated. Andante and Menuetto à la Beethoven, very precious and mesmerizing. There is always a sense of "gravitas". Anyway, a gem.
