I loved this when the series first broadcast. Between this amazing soundtrack by Snuffy and the amazing choices of classic songs, this miniseries blasted it right out of the park. I can never hear Don't Fear the Reaper now without reliving the sequence in the lab. Or Don't Dream It's Over without remembering Franny and Harold in her living room.
Funny story and its true. After the mini-series was first broadcast, I actually called ABC's music division in New York and spent fifteen minutes arguing and finally convincing the woman on the phone that this mini-series needed to have a soundtrack album released. One month later, I saw it in the stores. It only came out on CD and since I didn't have a CD player(I was a cassette man at the time) I had my neighbor copy it on a blank tape.
I know right i love the music from this and the track On The Road To Kansas i like alot being that im a resident of Kansas, but i would face the end of the world any day if this music was involved
I am so glad for RU-vid. I seemed to focus on the music in the film that was already mainstream like Don't Fear the Reaper. Now , I hear the genius of Snuffy Walden.
+Mo Green I thought Blue Oyster Cult sucked in the '70s and the words to Don't Fear the Reaper made me laugh way back then when I was stupid - the lyrics are so cheesy - some heavy handed attempt to be "deep" . You are spot on. So thanks.
You know .. having recently watching the "new" series it made me appreciate this one so much more. I know it can be a little hokey at times, but it might be as true to the source as we'll ever get .. and this soundtrack rips.
This is wonderful! Thanks for doing this. What a great soundtrack this is! Each one brings a scene into memory for a guy who has seen the movie several times!
Though I'm on this site everyday, I hardly ever comment but wanted to say thank you for posting this. This is an excellent video that, as one person said, gets a bit of everything in. Awesome and underrated soundtrack from a great movie.
I first found this about a year ago and loved it! Then it went away, and I lost my favorite piece of writing music. Thank you very much for posting it! I absolutely love the way you get a piece of everything in the soundtrack!
