One of the many highlights of their A State of Trance 550 set in Moscow, W&W now finally reveals the highly anticipated ID. As an ode to their ever-growing league of Russian fans and a night to never forget, the Mainstage boys present 'Moscow', a melodic tune for the masses!
Although the summer of 2012 has only just started, Willem and Ward have already celebrated highlight after highlight. With many more warm nights to be filled with their music, they present their follow-up to Jochen Miller collab 'Summer' and Marcel Woods joint venture 'Trigger', the big room loud and contagious 'Moscow'.
Walking the thin line of prog, trance and electro, this eclectic affair will rumble and shake the many crowds it's destined to meet.

I won't sit here and slate the artist because they are amazing, however, they have changed their sound to appeal to a wider audience whether we like it or not. Personally I'd say bring back the mustang, DNA, Alpha sound!

Regardless of what you think about this track, why is it considered trance music? It's currently #1 on the beatport trance chart; there's nothing hypnotic or trance-like about it. I'd call it electro house.

Well in a way it is electronic but to call it house i think is totally not appropriate. It is trance but i think a more exact term is Progressive or maybe Electro Trance. Otherwise there would be a lot of songs classified under Trance instead of its sub-category of Trance

if they wanted to, you could take some guitar sounds, sample them on ableton or any daw and it would still be EDM yet could have a punkish sound.... these arguments just piss me off because the people here all like the song, but for some reason feel the need to argue over the genre. do you think artists are going to bother having a long thought about what genre a song is? I know you're correct, and I agree that it is definitely trance, although the confusion for the people who aren't as sure definitely just comes from it's harsh synth and powerful drop. I think most people who aren't as much 'in-the-know' as far as genre goes just think that trance is like "euphoric" music. Whereas this song shows that trance can actually drop just as hard as electro-house.

bpm doesn't define genres very well. A perfect example: Afrjojack- Rock The House is 130 BPM or Spectrum ft. Matthew Koma also 130 BPM and electrohouse. Other than that, I agree with you. Trance is changing and has been since it was first made around "90-"92 If you don't like it you can always explore other areas of trance (Balearic,Tech,Psych,Hard Trance, Neo Trance, Dark Trance, Acid Trance,etc) The list keeps growing.

Technically its tech-trance or electro-trance, the synths and leads that kick in at the hook resemble trance more than house. Mainstage specializes in this kind of trance, so if you don't want to hear this kind of trance then don't listen to the music under Mainstage. :P

Was listening to Mainstage Vol 1 for nostalgia and was reminded of this track :) Seems like the one they used for that compilation mix was an earlier version of the track and they beefed it up a bit before the final release (this one is much better)

not strictly in the melody, but in the style that it's presented; hard drums with a bassy synth, main synth with melody followed by main synth with melody in a higher pitch. it's kinda the same presentation
