Is this trans from a GTE VVT-i motor? If so, it's the larger torque converter version (A340e 30-40LS). I have this turbo trans on my VVT-i 1JZ and I'm wondering if the transgo kit will work
Yes it is the large converter version. It's a 30-40le aristo trans. The only thing in the kit that didn't work was the piston change. I talked to transgo directly, and they said the rest of the install would be goo, and kit will still work minus the lockup piston swap. Just will affect how quick the trans would go into lockup.
@timelesssteelgarage Excellent. My trans is an LS version. I think the S is the designation for the sport shift version, meaning you can manually bump the gears up or down on the shifter in "M" mode. I'm not using that anyway on my car, so it shouldn't make a difference to me. I'm just praying that my valve body is identical to yours
Yeah you can see with the shifter set up I am running I am turning this into a manual shift car, and I am gonna control the electric solenoids with switches. Thanks for watching. Please Like subscribe and share. Helps me out and I appreciate all the support. Good luck with the trans , I hope this video helps !!! I'll be back on this car soon and finally finish it !
@@timelesssteelgarage Looks like a solid build! Old Mercedes are pretty sweet. So the trans must be out of a JZS161, not a JZS147, since you said the 2J had VVT-i. I think I feel safe ordering the transgo kit. If it doesn't work, it's a pretty minimal loss at 130 some bucks. Thanks for your replies man
One thing I learned is just buy the transgo valvebody gasket kit. It comes with all of them. There are so many variations it's a huge pain to find the right one so just order the gasket kit from them.
