Hey Chris, you got a nice car there. I have a 03 SL 55 AMG and for my exhaust system let me tell you what I done. Mine has 2 resonators and 2 mufflers I took everything off between the cats and the stock exhaust tips and bought 2 short flowmaster look a likes basically the same muffler as a flowmaster just genaric name and paid like $36 for the pair and a $120 at a muffler shop for the installation and it all took about 90 minutes to do and I still have all my stock exhaust system if I ever wanted to put it back stock. Well I can tell you I would never do it because it sounds so awesome just driving along you can't hardly tell its not stock exhaust but man when you stick your foot in it and that supercharger kicks in it sounds like someone just spent $2K on a exhaust system. I get so many compliments from people it sounds so awesome it sounds like a BEAST it's so funny you see people looking all around trying to see were that awesome sounding car is it's like they don't believe that just came out of a mercedes benz and all for a little over $200 bucks
Sounds great. I was told this would be too tinny, but it's not at all . I have already done X Pipe and Secondary cat delete, so this will be next plus LTHs
thanks for the idea.. was looking into c63 mufflers but yeah they want too much money for it..i had straight pipes when i purchased the car and it was just too loud.. purchased the stock mufflers and after i put them on the car was just too quiet. might just try this method out for next summer
Well, it's literally almost a year to the day that you did this mod. Any updates for us as to how it's worked out for you and/or any thoughts about going louder, or even quieter for that matter?
Well no shit Sherlock. Where did I sate a supercharger was attached to the exhaust? AMG V8's came both naturally aspirated and Supercharged and even Turbo charged. All I was saying was no matter what version, their V8's sound good. Next time you wanna critique someone on the Interfizzle, maybe reread before you stick your foot in your yap......@@kacper.6537
Thanks for the idea. This is definitely for people like me who don't intend to do a muffler delete but want more grunt from the stock ones but not too loud as the muffler delete. I will try this on my e55.
@@RomainBads Hi yes I did modify the muffler like you did but sold the car now. The new owner was stoked during the test drive and paid my asking price. Thanks!
Great videos, bro shout all the way from the Bahamas…. Quick question, when you upgrade your exhaust pipes, do have to do anything with the o2 sensors?
It's the internal design of the stock mufflers that are the problem, if they were more straight through with perforated pipe and the fiberglass packing that would give a deeper mellower tone, with just the packing removed they sound somewhat restricted, but with a hollow rattly tone, reminiscent of flowmaster 40 series mufflers.
Am I correct when I believe I noticed NH plates, I’m up north NH, I just picked up a w220 s55 so I am looking for a Fellow AMG guy who may have some knowledge. I have a few m113 211s and have been wrenching for a while.
