Billy Joe and Willie! Tune sounds a bit like "Road Goes On Forever" and the music sounds like Waylon but hey, its the man -- the one and only Billy Joe Shaver and Willie, can't go wrong.
This song is Billy''s true version of the event that took place on that fateful night out side of the bar in Waco. Dale Watson wrote a song called "where do you want want it" It is about the same events. Whitey Morgan also has a cover of "Where do You Want It. Both awesome songs. But glad to see that Ol' Billy set everything straight.
Now 53, probably city people who think Billy Joe Shaver is Far right, when he is probably a standard Libertarian who wants less USA federal government stuff and more state government working.
I just met Mr.Shaver last night. He's definitely the real deal, but he's so humble and down to earth. "It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice." That pretty much sums it up. That really made my night to be able to meet a real Texas hero!
He's like the Texans I grew up with, rough but true and truly nice... shake hands, look em in the eyes when you are speaking and hold the door for the ladies....
So much love to this man up there with cash and waylon for me, 33 years old lancashire England this music has brought me up and got me through some fuckery. Real men real music.
I sure miss when these ol guys was runin around in them ol trucks. Local stores, pool halls or little bar or honky tonk would be packed from friday evevin till sunday mornin. They were the freest kats I reckon I ever saw growin up and the most honest. They would tell ya they weren't livin right and to do better as you drove um to corner store for another case at 12 years old lol.
R.I.P. Mr Shaver. The world needs more people like u Willy & THE HAG,DAVID ALAN COE,. ERIC CHURCH IS KICKING ASS & TAKING NAMES. HE IS LIKE U GUYS ,TELLS IT LIKE IT IS.
I hope this was played at his funeral. I never met the man and they say he could be the nicest man or a great big ol' SOB but he professed to always try to be a better man and try to follow the Creator. RIP BJS.....
I'm a wacko from Waco, ain't no doubt about it Shot a man there in the head but can't talk much about it He was trying to shoot me, but he took too long to aim Anybody in my place, would have done the same I don't start fights, I finish fights, that's the way I'll always be I'm a wacko from Waco, you best not mess with me Joe Jamail said I was like a fly in buttermilk Trapped in a Waco bottle, I was bound to get kilt Dar Jamail said, "Billy, Houston's where you need to be If you're going back to Waco, you're leaving without me" It's nice to be important, more important to be nice If you're shootin' dice in Waco, you'll roll snake eyes every time I was born in Corsicana They said, "Billy can you do it?" I said, "O' course I can, just point it out and I'll get right to it" Corsicana, Texas, has been real good to me They knew I had to shoot that man before that man shot me I should have known the truth would set me free I guess living down in Waco made a wacko out of me A wacko from Waco is still on the run A singer, a writer, a son of a gun Don't cross him, don't boss him Stay out of his way Don't give him no trouble or you'll just make his day I'm damned if I don't damned if I do I'm a wacko from Waco I'm telling you the truth I'm damned if I don't, damned if I do I'm a wacko from Waco You finally heard the truth
I just read his obit in the paper, is this song about the time he shot the guy in the face in 2010 that attacked him with a knife at a bar?! RIP Billy! True Country.
Let's stop right here for a second. witness accounts, police records and the legal arguments presented all depict the other man as being armed with a knife "I knew it was time to return fire"
