Wacky Fighting Game Guest Characters 

For those of you who didn't want to read the article in the description about Force Five (either because you didn't have the time or you're too lazy); for the controversy was that after it became Jingi Storm, they removed all the female playable characters, and paired up every male character with an anime waifu, with artwork drawn by various manga artists (all of which clash with one another). Not only that, but depending on your score after playing the arcade mode, you can get different kinds of lewd artwork of said waifu, including straight up nudity. Yes, they turned Force Five into an eroge game, and yes they did localized tests in the public, with said eroge elements enabled. When it was finally released, said eroge elements were removed, leaving it a bland Force Five game with a different coat of paint.

The developer version of KOF 98 supposedly had Goku and Vegeta as playable characters before the real game got released. I'd like to get my hands on that one.

I was expecting the Daytona Car from Fighters Megamix. But I guess that game could be a whole video on it's own.

If we can't get a Capcom All-Stars with Mega Man.EXE in it, a newer Platform fighter with all sorts of Capcom characters would be cool. They also did a Viewtiful Joe one with Red Hot Rumble. But I can't help but think that a Mega Man themed one would work out better.

My holiday-themed fighting game concept does have Weird Al Yankovic as a character to represent Weasel Stomping Day.

Gon in Tekken 3 will always be the wildest character. And the fact he's in the English version is even more wild, considering how complicated localization makes opyright for manga/anime in the States.

As cool as MegaMan.Exe was to see in Onimusha, I hope we do eventually see him in a proper Vs. Series Title.

If you ever do a follow-up to this video, you could talk about the 3 Rabbid guest fighters in TMNT Smash-Up. One is just a regular rabbid, but for the other 2, one is dressed like a ninja turtle, and the other is dressed up like Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell games. It was cool learning about some guest fighters I never knew of. I heard of Tobal 2 before thanks to that Classics of Game video of the lizard enemy dancing like that Chocobo dance you showed, but I didn't know chocobo was in the game, or Tori-bot for that matter.

I absolutely love weird and wacky guest characters, especially ones that are just completely out of place. Also, the Chocobo ending is nice proof that the spirit of high-effort shit posts existed long before the modern internet xD Honey the Cat actually took on something of her own life in Sonic side media, as iirc she was a recurring part of the Archie verse is it's an Flynn "clean-up" era prior to the in-universe reboot. Fun fact, I had a pretty big Earthworm Jim phase for a few years as a kid. I had almost all the toys, VHS tapes of the cartoon and the two man series games at the time, I literally almost bought Clayfighter 63⅓ just to play as him... but that's right about when my RPG phase started and the money went towards much better games. Also, I had a feeling Seventh Force was a Gunstar reference! Hell yeah!

I love guest characters, they're amazing I also kinda love how much the indie scene especially crosses over. Though some I could suggest if it ends up going into an indie guest series is Project G have Zero from MMX, the whole Duels of Fortune and Schwarzerblitz/Exploding Judo Federation borrowing each other's character's, Uchu from Uchu Mega Fight appearing in Robo-Oh, Mighty Fight Federation has 5 total guest characters, Kunio, Riki, Yooka and Laylee, Toejam and Earl and Miriam from Bloodstained and just even more

Man, I love talking about guest characters, especially the weird ones like recently Jason Voorhees in Multiversus, like who tf expected Jason in a family friendly platform fighter where you can beat the heck outta Shaggy from Scooby Doo, Superman, and Finn from Adventure Time, and what makes it better is that he's probably one of my new favorite characters to play in that game. Onimusha Blade Warriors is also a game I really hope to play one day as I just love platform fighters in general, (Why do you think I like Playstation All-Stars?) Mega Man characters are just the icing on the cake. (Especally because I like the Zero series version of Zero a lot more than the X series version) It's also funny you mention Onimusha in a video when I recently got copies of 1, 2 and... one of the two discs needed for Dawn of Dreams, yeah I'm just waiting for when I get the time to go back to the store I got it from to see if it even has disc two right now. Also I know it's doesn't count technically, but come on, Solid Snake vs Optimus Prime is art. (I'm talking about Dream Mix TV World Fighters, now that's another game I really want to play)

Acknowledging Treasure and their games as some of the best ever made was one thing, but mentioning how Platinum is similar to them made me sub. I always thought of Platinum as a sort of successor to Treasure. Always making great unique games. You've got elite taste m8 🔥

A video idea I think would be cool that i havent seen is unique announcer call outs. Like we all know "round one, FIGHT" but i want to see more stuff like "cant escape from crossing fates" or "Lets rock!" type ones. Ive looked for a compilation in the past even and no luck

Well, theres this cool little game on Steam called Ultra Fight Da! Kyanta 2, and in that, you can play as the real life ZackyWild as a guest character in the game, ZackyWild is a Japanese fighting game player that has a nack for wack-a-mole, I don't know if he counts, but i'd say he does!

As a DC fan, I have a love/hate relationship with the guests from Injustice 2. On one side they are really great picks and is amazing to see the TMNT in a official game with Batman and Superman On the other hand. Yeah I would easily trade them for a couple of DC characters I wanted to see

The thing is that the fg genre got in a particular period when these ideas became much harder to be done and go well. First of all, every veteran franchise still carries a lot of old school fans, meaning a significant portion of overly critical, grumpy, not rarely jaded and bored players. Secondly, modern games are more expensive, and in some cases lack the content volume they had in the past (or they had without paid dlcs), because of growing development costs. It's hard to just drop a huge roster at launch. The practical result is harsher criticism about modern games lacking some veterans, either in the initial roster or the whole game roster. Also that note about being "grumpy" is important: I've been seeing a lower tolerance in the fgc about goofy stuff over certain levels... Like the reactions when Dan was announced in SF5, when Kuma and Panda were announced in T8, etc. In short the fgc bit by bit is losing the good sense of humor to appreciate what these games generally do. So the current fgc wont forgive a veteran franchise putting a ridiculous guest char replacing a veteran. I think the current fgc wouldn't even be able to handle jokes from not too long ago like in SFxTK.

Speaking of guest characters funny enough i did a video a while ago talking about Spartan 458 in Dead or Alive 4 I've always found that fascinating and it did lead to some other stuff in DOA Dimensions and even the guest characters in DOA5 and 6

Onimusha Warriors was my shizz for a long time when it came out! I played it from the day it released until Onimusha 3 came out! I really appreciate that Gargant was a teaser for one of the bosses in the main game on 3! My mains were Exe, Zero, and Musashi!

There was supposed to be another guest character for Sonic the Fighters, Pengo from an arcade game of the same name. PatmanQC has a pic of it, when talking about the history of that game

I know it's dumb and there's dozens of things to prove me wrong, but in head-canon, I like to think that Ehrgeiz characters are from Midgar. Yeah, there's the cop girl with a yo-yo, not very Shinra-ish. But the ninja guy's outfit loosely resembles a SOLDIER uniform (especially the helm.) Inoba is salaryman that works for Shinra (and does Sumo on the side), the dude with the rocket leg lives in one of the slums (judging by his ending.) Prinze Doza, the kickboxer, trains at the sector 6 gym. The last boss, Django clearly symbolizes Nanaki's race (his alt color is literally Seto.) His stage is a hi-tech laboratory and his 2nd form is a chimera... sounds pretty Hojo-ish. Other characters may have hailed from other parts of the FF7 world. Also, if anything, I'd like to think that the brawler game The Bouncer takes place in another modern FF setting. I know there's a cactuar cameo on one guy's jacket, and they're just designed by Nomura. What I CAN point-out is that the main character Sion was the original version of Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Same design, came out 2ish years before KH. So yeah, silly head-canon. Spare me the shoot-downs🙃

While not related to fighting games Final Fantasy has also crossover with Mario series in Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and Mario Sports Mix. Dragon Quest also crossover with Mario in Fortune Street on the Wii which is such an underrated gem on the Wii.

A video of Zero and Megaman.EXE fighting in Onimusha Blade Warriors was one of the first RU-vid videos I ever watched, if not THE first. I just recently picked up OBW too after finishing Genma Onimusha, but haven't played it much yet. A very strange game, but very nostalgic to me due to those two additions. I was a HUGE fan of obscure Mega Man stuff at the time (and I still am lol) I also REALLY need to play Rakugaki Showtime. I always knew of it but seeing it in action just makes me wanna play it even more lol

Gonna throw in one that would at the very least be "wild" from a historical context if not "weird" (as in, it must have been pretty weird/wild when it was a new thing): Ryu Hayabusa, the guy from Ninja Gaiden, being a character in Dead or Alive.

I live for deranged crossovers, even via guest characters. Also, IIRC, Akira and Selvaria in DBFC aren't as out-of-place as I had originally thought, though I imagine you'll dig up more details if you ever get around to either one or both. The short and dirty story is that, much like the rest of the roster, both Akira and Selvaria's respective IPs have been adapted into both manga and anime in the past.

Since you brought up the Yakuza series I was wondering if Kiryu were to be in a SEGA All Stars Racing 3 I been wondering what his car would look like because I thinking they could do something similar to Ryo where instead of driving a cartoony looking car like the other SEGA character Kiryu would drive a more realistic looking car considering that the Yakuza series is mostly grounded in reality and not set in a fantasy world like most of SEGA’s other franchises.

That Onimusha Smash clone actually look pretty good and it sucks that there aren’t too many good Smash Bros clones out there because Smash Bros is such a fun concept for a fighting game and it sucks that there aren’t other Smash clones out there that are actually because one of my dream fighting games is a SEGA Smash Bros because SEGA characters would fit so well in a crossover fighting game and I would to see a fighting game where Kiryu teams up with Alex Kidd to beat up Sonic.

Well, I do know a very obscure indie fighter with a bunch of special costumes based on other indie fighters and two guest characters: Schwarzerblitz, featuring K-069, a character from the dev's old shmup, ENiGMA, and Sir Rattlebone from another indie fighter Duels of Fortune. And to return the favor, DoF also featured Mystery Johnson from Schwarzerblitz.

Snott is a major player in Earthworm Jim 2, no question. He lives in Jim's backpack, and you can use him to swing between patches of snot from the ceiling, his addition is one of the main mechanical differences from the first game. And, he was apparently in promo art for Earthworm Jim 1, so was certainly intended to be important in that game too. Aaand, yes, he does appear in the first game. As a platform you can stand on. Once. At the end of the game. You don't do anything special to "summon" or control him. He isn't given any characterisation or animation. He doesn't appear at any point before the final fight, and disappears literally the moment you land the final hit, never to be seen again (until the sequel). He's just a platform. If you gave a random block from Super Mario Bros googly eyes and a name, it would be as much of a character as Snott is in the first game, and I guarantee you that the majority of players who made it that far gave it no more attention than they did anything else Jim stands on. I'd be amazed if 10% of people who played both games back in the day knew that Snott wasn't completely new for the second game; I certainly didn't.

There was a cancelled Tiny Toons themed sequel to Rakugaki Showtime called Tiny Toons: Defenders Of The Universe. It was supposed to release in 2001-2002 on the PS2 and GameCube alongside their actually released GBA Tiny Toons game.

Noctis from FF15 being a guest character in Tekken 7 will always be the best guest character in a fighting for me personally due to hin being the only reason i even gave Tekken the light of day. I imported a saturn last year with a handful of games, one of them JP fighting vipers. I had heard he was unlockable, so that was the first thing I did when I set up my saturn! freakin' hilarious. (I didn't know you could use the pepsiman fight to skip the end fight, though!)

I heard that Marina's inclusion in Rakugaki has caused legal hazzard for the character, as seemingly both Treasure and Rakugaki's publisher claim to legally own the character. Not that...not that a Mischief Maker's sequel sounds particularly likely. No, generally I love guest characters and my only gripe isn't even the usual one: I don't think it's a "wasted slot" that could have gone to a "more deserving character" but I do think it take up a spot from a new charcter that could come back in the future, unlike a guest character, which historically won't. Normally this isn't a problem but if your roster is like 99% old characters and one percent Kratos from The God of War Series it does rub me the wrong way. One of the things I do like is when the guest character just becomes a part of a fanchise and everyone just forgets. Like Yoshimitsu and Ryu Hayabusa. I suppose it's easier when the company owns them but I don't think anyone's expecting Joker back from Mortal Kombal 1 DLC.

I would vote Steve is the weirdest smash brow character as a blocky pixelated 3d character is in smash is weird to me. Also maybe snake is another weird one for smash based on the amount of other characters are not that violent except maybe simon and richter but even then those characters can be made less violent whereas it is hard to determine how to make Snake seem less violent.
