The water is cold but the sun is shining so I hop in my kayak and fish a wacky worm for some bass and pike!

Matt, Nice to see you post a video. Glad you can still get out and fish soft water. It seems every time you are in that area you do well for a urban location. Every time I see one of those what looks to be apartment buildings in the background I say boy would I like to live there. My yak would be on the bank every day. Nice fish, quality always better than numbers.

There were two other pike I didn’t include in the video as well. They were all over the worm! There were a ton of pike in the shallow areas though, at one point I was sitting in a few feet of water and I could see six of them around me.

I’ve never seen the clear stuff at any local stores, always had to order it online from Zoro. A ten pack of six inch strips has lasted me a few years.

It's interesting how many pike/muskie are caught on plastic bass rigs vs the big swim baits that are meant for pike/muskie. I guess no one told them what the "rules" are. Though it's not "plastic" I caught my biggest pike [44"], on an black 5/8 oz. jig/pig while bass fishing in the fall. Btw, another great video. God bless.

Do you clean and eat any of the smallies and pike that you catch. Love to see how you cook them. We usually deep dry them but sometimes we grill or wrap them in foil with some oil and lemon pepper. We have also wrapped them up with bacon.

Where I live we have a huge lake call Lake Powell which is packed with smallies. When I have the chance to go I keep a few to eat, along with some striped bass and they taste amazing when sautéed in a little butter. Do you ever keep any of these to eat?

Yeah I fished another spot a day or two before this and it was nothing but little fish there. I know the big ones were around somewhere but either I couldn’t find them or they just didn’t want to bite.

Hey I just put together a similar setup! Tatula 100 reel, mojo bass medium extra fast tip, and a nice fluoro leader from 30lb braid. Great minds think alike 😏 tight lines man

Hey Matt, Thanks for sharing your fishing adventures. You're a skilled fisherman and great video producer. I have a question. I notice you are using a Daiwa Tatula SV TW 103HS in this video. I believe it's new. How do you like it compared to the Quantum baitcasters you have used in the past? I bought one this fall and have been impressed with its' performance.
