We're on winter break currently, but when we're on the road we always keep a 50' and a 25'. Better ti have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. What's that Boy Scout sayinf? Be Prepared!👍😉
Be careful being close to the salt water. We were in Corpus Christi for a month near the water it was beautiful and peaceful. A month after we left out entry door on our 5th wheel froze. I broke it trying to get out. The hinge is aluminum and as is the pin for the hinge. It welded itself together because of the salt water and my frame started rusting too
Tennessee. So glad to know about Midway Park because where I stayed while in Waco was not ideal for short stays because almost all sites were rented for long stays or yearly.
Another great episode guys!! 👍👍 A couple million years ago, about the time of the mammoths, perhaps, I dated a girl from Waco. It’s changed a lot since then. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit. I hope you can post some pics from Mustang Island! Such a beautiful place. Safe travels y’all!!
Just wanted to add my two cents as a person who has never watched the Magnolia associated show but show but was dragged (taken there) by some relatives, it is pretty cool...and if you like fruitcake, be sure to stop by the Colin Street Bakery.
Next time try Airport Park COE, it is amazing and close to town also. Next to the airport but it's not a major one so not much traffic and isn't a problem. We had a site (20) right next to the lake and it was very relaxing. My son lives in Waco so we plan to visit often and stay at this park.
Sorry to hear about the rent thief. If your credit card # is stolen, it’s the CC company’s $ that is lost, rather than your money in your checking acct. We try to avoid using debit cards anywhere but the home bank. This may be the only piece of advice I retained from the Clark Howard radio show.
We did Waco mammoth, before COVID they did a trail tour with very interesting facts and sights. I’m sure that was not an option for you at that time. I did enjoy the dig area😊 Always enjoy all your podcasts and U tube video’s.
WATER HOSES; oh my ... when I first bought my motorhome, I figured I’d be smart and buy a 50’ fresh water hose - it should be PLENTY, right? 😖 As a solo senior traveler, I soon discovered just how heavy and difficult it was to have to deal with all that hose every time I wanted to hook up to campground water. Ack! Yes, sometimes necessary and I’m glad I carry it. BUT! It wasn’t long before I went and bought a smaller 25’ hose, which I use a LOT more often and is sooo much easier to get out and put away. It’s good to have the option of up to 75’, YES. But I’m so glad I have the option of ONLY 25’. 👍🏼
If you have not tried burnt ends, you need to next you are in Kansas City. My two favorite places for Kansas City burnt ends are Joe's KC or Jack Stack. Peace and Safe Travels.
Oh, we def know burnt ends. I was born and pretty much raised in KC, all my family still lives there, so BBQ is a part of my upbringing. Gotta give some love to Arthur Bryants for the ultimate burnt ends - Q39 is also great. Love KC BBQ! -Abby
Did they not have the tours going at Mammoth? We went summer of 2019 and it was set up as a tour that went through the history of the find and dig. It started on the trail and went though the building talking you through it all and explained very well what you are seeing. Thinking they may not be doing that due to COVID. Too bad as we really enjoyed it.
Oh, how interesting. That would have made a huge difference. I’m sure it’s because of COVID there were no tours or maybe they were over for the day? Either way, I saw no option or was asked if we wanted too when we paid at the visitors center. Glad to m ow there’s a bit more to the site. Thanks! -Abby
I’m sure that is correct, because there was no option to go without the tour when we went. It still wasn’t a long time spent there. We did it and the Cameron Zoo on the same day. FYI, the zoo is great!
@@RVMiles I live in Waco. Glad you enjoyed your visit. The previous commenter was correct. Normally, with no Covid, you are required to go with a tour through the mammoth building. MUCH better than your experience. That being said, it is definitely one of the smaller National Monuments. There is not a day's worth there. You need to come back to see SO many other things that are here: -the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame -shopping at Spice Village (downtown) -Homestead Heritage Craft Village (an authentic community that you can view woodworking, pottery, weaving, etc, etc with an excellent restaurant with items made from their farm and dairy -not a lot left but still worth visiting the David Koresh compound - the Dr. Pepper Museum (it was invented here) -on the Baylor University campus the million dollar bear habitat that houses the 2 bears that are the Baylor mascots, as well as the Armstrong Browning Library that houses the largest collection of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning in the world AND the building that was built for the collection has what they believe to be the largest secular stained glass collection in the world.
Had my bank hacked called immediately as items were going to be coming in for payment. They didn’t act. Account overdrawn. Called daily and in the 3rd day they finally did something and credited the overdrafts ect. I no longer bank with them. Interesting that Magnolia is low key.
I have lived in Michigan my whole life and you never get out of the vehicle here at any quick change place so when I got it changed in florida I felt like a idiot just sitting there until a employee finally walked over and told me to get out....
That’s so funny because just across the border in IL, it’s almost unheard of to stay in your car (unless you’re at a Take 5 and I don’t think there were any in the Chicago area). -Abby
Oh my Gosh Jason and Abby! I can not believe that you got your vehicles mirror hit on the other side. They wanted to match each other. Lol! 😂 love your grey and black tanks. And Jason’s black tank about the oil change how weird is that? Oh Abby I have a question would you mind sending me in comments the name of that writer and book you were talking about? I want to get that book. I love mysteries.
The book is called The Hunting Party: A Novel by Lucy Foley, she’s another one I haven’t read yet called The Guest List. I also really love all of Sophie Hannah’s Hercules Poirot books. Believe there are four. Hannah has picked up the Agatha Christie character with permission from Christie’s estate. It’s nice to have new Poirot mysteries to read. Hope you enjoy the recommendations! -Abby
She mentions the familiar cliché “everyone has a right to an opinion”. Yes, but some opinions are based on facts and are carefully thought out whereas others are based on falsehoods or snap judgements, even stereotypes.
We went to see the Mammonth National Monument too this past December and felt exactly the way you did. You are spot on in how you described the experience! Thanks for being so honest. Viteks BBQ is excellent and has been there for over 40 years.
