I Just lost my 16yr Chihuahua.... she helped me get through a very long and difficult chronic illness, and got me through a separation, and the quarantine. I feel so alone without her, She told me when to go to bed at night, what time to get up in the mornings, when it was time to get out of the house to go for walks and be social. I am so lost without her... I am very grateful for the time she was with me, I know the reason why I didn’t end up in a severe depression is because she was by my side. She truly made life easier and brought so much happiness. I feel like I shouldn’t be sad because I am immensely grateful, but I am heartbroken 💔
I’m sorry. You aren’t alone. Been there. Remember there are so many others wanting to love you and be loved the same way. Yours was a lucky one to live his life with a human she loved. ❤️
I know this to be true.... the last two dogs have kept me sustained for sure.... I recall one night when I wanted to take some pills and end it all and as I sat there, on the floor... contemplating, my dog nudged me in the back.... as if to say, DON'T DO IT. And then I wondered who would take care of her as good as I do.... so I thank all my dog and cat buddies for being my friend.
We saw Wade Hayes in concert this past summer (2022) in Jasper Indiana. He spoke a little bit about the inspiration for this song before playing it. Great tune and it made me respect him even more.
Wade, it was nice to meet you at the Hard Rock in Tulsa. Just another reason why our Oklahoma country singers are the best around! We loved the back story on this song. It made this song so much more meaningful.
Nothing better than dog ..they love you unconditionally you can laugh, cry, yell, scream and they still love you if yiur dig likes someone they are a good human
Met you at the Crosby Fair and Rodeo in Crosby Tx, in the mid 90s....your songs have always touched me in different ways...i thought well of you then, but watching the battle you have had to fight....you have a genuinely good heart and spirit about you...sing on my friend!
I have 2rescuedogs. I can agree with Wade on Who Saved Who. My furbabies bring me so much joy and happiness. Wade is an awesome person and fellow Oklahoman.
I fully understand the emotional attachment to our fur'babies... I own a horse rescue ranch in Moore'Ok.....we save horses, dogs, farm animals.. cats..any animal that God brings to us. I love this song'..... I think they rescue us... "Merry Christmas" Wade...
Anyone that has ever rescued/loved an animal can definitely relate to this song. I’ve been a Wade Hayes fan from day one and in my opinion this is by far his best and most meaningful song 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
My niece was murdered in 2015 her 12 yr. Old son came too live with us and friends and family praised us for taking him in .when I first heard this I thought of him he's graduating tomorrow and I still ask who saved who
My dog passed away 8 months ago and i still get emotional thinking about him listening to this song 💙 he was 15 and my other pup who's 13 still looks for him around the house💔 they always stayed together throughout everything since 2yrs old
WOW - working in rescue - I can say this song & video is beautiful and made me cry. My babies name is Stitch and was my foster gone wrong, because he ended up staying because I fell so in love with him, that I could not let him go. Yay for Pugs! Then Otis I rescued from the pound @ 6 months old, he was a Queensland Healer Collie Mix, and I was not ready to say goodbye to him, but he passed this past year as well as my Puggle that I rescued from the pound as well Pugsley who crossed the Rainbow Bridge as well this past year. Adopt Don't Shop.
Wade, thank you for this song. There is no greater love than the love we have for our dog. They are our best friend until the end. You did a great job with this. 😊
What a beautiful song. A mans best friend. Thanks for sharing this video. So sorry to hear of your battle with the big C Wade hope all is well now. I wondered where you had disappeared to. Love all your music. So heartfelt. Gina Sterling Tokoroa, South Waikato, New Zealand.
Awesome video and so very true your words!! Our pets are family and love seeing all the rescued critters. My niece is pictured with her beloved Bubba & Duke! Brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch this. Thank you Wade!! ❤️
I have many fond memories of seeing/ meeting Wade @ Billy Bobs in the 90s. He is still one of my fave singers. This song is one of his best. On June 11, 2019, I had to make the hard decision of letting my beloved Alice go to the other side. The pain and all I went through of losing my big toe in Oct of 2018, compares nothing to the pain/grief of losing Alice. My heart hurts daily. Thank you Wade for this song. You are awesome! I have missed you every time you have been at Stagecoach in Ft. Worth, and with my work schedule, it looks like I will have to miss you again in August. Keep up the great work. Many continued blessings to you and yours.
Sasha has been my better half now from going on Lord seven-and-a-half years and I don't want to see a day without her. That's her picture my profile there. Thank you mr. Hayes for singing the song that in my opinion has been the Year of the dog. I don't know if people know this but people are starting to let dogs and pets of all nature's going stores and shopping malls and it's wonderful, I bet not one of you can name a human that will miss you just for walking to the mailbox?
Oh Wade, thank you so much for writing this song! After all your health scares, it nice for us to know who helped you get through it all! Everyday is a blessing, especially with a dog by your side. Continue great health and prosperity!
Awesome!! feel the same....wouldn't know what to do without my Toby and my Pearl..I read how your little buddy kept you going...the walks yall took! Still Handsome as ever!!
Thank you Lord for letting me find this song today! Makes me think about all of the past pups I've had throughout my life. Thank you Wade for writing such a beautiful song
The dog you see in the profile picture is a rescue. "I'm nowhere near strong enough for life without him." so true. Thank you for the amazing song. Oh Shadow, I think I know just Who Saved Who.

This song is special to me also!! I lost my husband in 2014 and we had only had our Jack Russell for 4 years and he was my husbands all day every day and then when I lost my husband my Sparkie dog was my savior. He has seen me through thick and thin. He is my confidante and my 4 legged human. I love him with all of my heart. He makes my day!! God bless you Wade!!!
Man Wade! You hit the nail on the head with this one buddy. Love it!! Glad he helped get you through it buddy. It’s no small coincidence that DOG is GOD spelled backward. They’re just a mirror image of His love for us!
Beautiful that's a great song wade love it Jack is a beautiful dog because you believe in your self you are stronger than you know you have gone through some storms stronger than before so happy for you moving forward and doing so well thank you for sharing this great post merry Christmas to you and have a safe and happy New year ❤
What a great song and video. Our dog's name is Lazy. He is the only one that can lay around- and he lives up to his name. He is a red healer. Chef T and Rosa.
