Dude that laser engraved line on the MSR's was a brilliant idea and I cannot freaking believe the entire industry hasn't copied that. It's a common sense solution to the annoying process of mounting a scope.
Brownells has a big window by their optic display so you can look outside a couple hundred yards. They even have a deer decoy out there to look at. They have them all mounted on rifle stocks. Its a good point to watch out for some of the "display model" issues to make sure you're giving them a fair comparison.

If you like the reticle and don’t mind the lack of daylight bright illumination then the Vudu is a very good scope Optical quality of sig MSR 1-10 gets beat by cheaper monstrum scopes so yeah…
Check out the GEN2 March 1-10 “shorty” with DUAL focal plane reticle so the illuminated center dot is on the 2nd focal plane and never changes size, where your stadia, subtensions, etc. are on the 1st focal plane, making them usable throughout the magnification range. It also has manual parallax adjustment, weighs under 20 oz, and measures approx 8” in length. Oh, and it fits all your standard mounts, unlike the Gen 1.,
All LPVOs should NOT come with a mount. You’ll have way to many spare mounts and they’ll all be cheaper, the scopes themselves will cost more, and you’ll end up buying a better mount anyway. Budget lpvos should come with mounts as they tend to be first time purchases and don’t need to be special. Expensive LPVOs should be mount free as that allows you to use your premium mount of choice. Optic company and mount companies are two different things for a reason.

@@txpredatorhunting it’s like glock making the glock performance trigger and then comparing it to a super high end custom trigger…except in that example the glock performance trigger isn’t a cash grab as it’s actually pretty cheap Point being, you wouldn’t pick a glock performance trigger over something else if you didn’t have a budget or other requirements that favor the glock trigger, it simply isn’t the best performer Same goes for lpvo mounts, I wouldn’t pick an overpriced mount from the optic maker when I could get more for the same money with a brand that specializes in scope mounts
@@txpredatorhunting it’s not over thinking, it’s being smart with your money, because optics companies charge full premium prices for their usually sub par mounts if said mounts were included the price would go up at least $200 on average a scope, if it went up less than that it’s because you’re getting a cheap mount that isn’t at the same quality standard as the optic If it’s more than That then you’re severely overpaying for the included mount, especially when most people will replace it
$4,000 in this market is crazy. I know Nightforce and Schmidt and Bender scopes can be the same price but Vortex really is supposed to be for the working man. Even their Razor UH-1 gen 2 is pretty reasonably priced.
It’s a combo deal for $5595 now subtract $2394 for the Daniel Defense rifle and $325 for the scope mount and $115 for the red mount = $2761 for the scope alone
As soon as Fitsy The Swifty mentioned it only hung over the receiver by 2 pic slots I immediately perked up thinking something will make me finally enjoy pulling the pvs30 off the shelf again. It got real old trying to run focus and gain on it when she was mounted in front of a long body NSX

@@MatthewC176 It just needs a finer center that draws the eye to the center better. The dot they have is too course. The christmas tree is great, so they should def leave that, but maybe a cross hair or psyeudo cross hair like Nightforce's DMX would be welcomed. Its cool that the center dot is translucent, but its just a bit too course for 10x work.
@@ryaniam22 Easy now, dont go all keyboard warrior on me. Obviously the perfect scope will depend on what the individual is doing and what rifle their using. Perfect for me, may not be perfect for everyone. I'm interested in GP rifles like shorty bolt guns, reasonable length AR's and hunting rifles, the perfect scope for me on those platforms really doesnt exist yet. But I think it would be a very reliable 2-10 or 12x with a 30 or 34mm tube, a useful mil-based christmas tree, illuminated, capped turrets, and a weight of around 21oz or less. Is that YOUR perfect scope? Maybe not, and it doesnt have to be. The Vortex comes close, if only the center of the reticle were a little bit finer for 10x work.
@@shrubjr893 Naw dude you got it all wrong that was a serious question. The way you said it sounded like there are other better scopes than this for this purpose....which kinda surprised me. So for the purposes of what you'd use a 1-10 for or 1-8 you think this vortex is the best in the world? It seems like a great 1-10 would just about be perfect for all someone ever actually needs. The reason I asked if there are noticeable downsides to this ultrashort design is because usually there are. Maybe vortex pulled off some witchcraft. I haven't seen it obviously. Cheers
I'm planning to have a build near identical to that. Since I plan to have a mounted red dot, I'm much more concerned with the 10x than the 1x, so how it performs at 10x (any image shift, glass issues, color issues, brightness) is of most interest to me. I was planning to go with the March 1-10 because of weight and locking turrets, but I'm happy to hold off my purchase if this is a better option. Looking forward to a review after it's had some more use.
These are still available at eurooptic and only made 50 units period. Comes with Daniel Defense M-4 blah blah and mount caps and a brown gun case and so other stuff. The scope color don’t even match the tan fore end on the gun.
@@codyboland8109 i will check out the "c" model... I had a OG plx 1-8 a few years ago its was nice! But my God it was heavy an it wasn't very compact an I believe it had a 34mm tube...
These were contract overruns sold directly to Europtic who put them on DDM4s for sale, had to buy to whole setup. When will Vortex sell them individually?

@@txpredatorhunting im not spending more that 1k on an optic unless it has a range finder and ballistic calculator built in......oh right burris already did that. even if you get it at optics planet for 2500. your not getting an extra 2000 dollars worth of features. you dont get a 34mm tube.....you only get "super high pollish" glass an inch or so shorter tube......and thats it......placebo bs pricing. but hey they have a mil contract now for the xm7 so they have to charge double to make the mility feel like its getting a deal.
