1 - The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, just stay away from those places and maybe Friday the 13th but no way would I choose Nightmare on Elm Street or The Purge, no way.
I feel like Nightmare on Elm Street also qualifies for what you're talking about. Freddy is mostly contained to Springwood, Ohio, with the only real exception to this being in New Nightmare.
Story 2: OP has more of an SO problem than an SO's daughter problem. Not only is SO not a responsible parent because she didn't call the school immediately after confirming that OP could pick up her daughter from school, but she's dismissing OP's legitimate feelings about almost being arrested, and minimizing her and her daughter's behavior to avoid negative consequences. SO is just as responsible for putting OP in that position, actually more so, imo, since she didn't follow up with the school. Now, she's trying to downplay her inaction and her daughter's outrageous behavior so OP won't take the nuclear option and leave her while telling everyone what a terrible parent and partner she is on his way out. Not being able to take responsibility for one's actions, not making one's child take responsibility for their actions, and dismissing their partner's feelings are three big red flags that shouldn't be ignored in one's SO. OP needs to get some help to figure out if this was an isolated incident that can be worked through, never to be repeated after family and individual counseling for SO and Kiddo, or if this is a pattern of behavior that will continue throughout the future course of OP's relationship and determine if SO is really the right person to build a life and family with. Let me tell you, being in close proximity to someone who can't ever take responsibility for their actions is not a way in which I choose to live. I've cut out long-time friends and family who not only rarely/never say things like 'I was wrong', 'I'm sorry', or 'My bad. How can I make it up to you', but continue to be thoughtless and irresponsible and still expect everyone else to pick up their slack, while they sit on their a$$ and complain about how life is so hard. If OP wants to have a less toxic relationship then there needs to be individual counseling for SO and her daughter and couple's counseling to work on SO's inability to take responsibility for her actions, her dismissing of OP's valid feelings of anger and resentment towards her and Kiddo, and her complete lack of empathy for what OP went through. Personally, I would be taking a good, long look at SO and her past behavior throughout the relationship to determine if there have been other red flags that I have been ignoring/looking past, because I don't want to be tied in marriage to someone who's always going to try to tell me that I'm being an unreasonable a-hole for being upset when they behave badly and that I'm going to have to pry apologies out of. OP's the only one who's not wrong in this situation and is owed apologies to, both from SO and Kiddo. OP NTA, and use caution going forward with this woman.
